The veteran Sherman may be the most important wheel release this year, since it isn’t just a brand new wheel, it’s a whole new EUC company! Base on spec It is also the fastest and longest range electric unicycle on the market with a higher free spin and top speed than any other wheel including the current speed king the Gotway msx 100v. Will it survive tests from the speed demons of the NYC eskate crew? And it's design and build by a team whom are very much out to dethrone Gotway the current top dog in the performance euc world and the question is, have they succeeded? And Thanks to Jason from Ewheel, I am going to get a chance to find out, this week I review the veteran Sherman! Roll the intro. Disclaimer time; this preproduction unit was provided by Ewheel for review purposes and I’ll provide an affiliate link if you are interested in putting in a pre-order. But opinion expressed are strictly my own! Now I had reached out to Veteran but had not heard any responses yet so unfortunately I can’t confirm any more details than what I had read so far which is that the people behind this company were all veteran Gotway employees and because of a disagreement, supposedly over the direction of wheel design they decided to strike out and start their own company, and this is the result. A 20” wheel with a 2500watt motor and a whopping 3200wh battery pack. Even larger than my extended range monster. The gotway pedigree is immediately obvious, its boxy and industrial looking casing is a far cry from the slim profile of the inmotion designed wheels or the more sculpted kingsong wheels. And I like it, it reminds me of a heavy duty piece of military equipment or some sort of off road vehicle, and I especially love this tubular framing since one of my major complain I had with gotway wheels had been how fragile their case were. The steel tubular framing has a solid connection below the pedal hanger and felt solid and reassuring and at 3/4” diameter provide excellent mounting points for any sort of accessory with a clamp, lights, go pro or what ever you can think of. But the real question is, does it actually protect the casing in case of an crash? This happen during our acceleration test which I’ll talk about later in more detail, but if this was a gotway wheel it would have disintegrated since its all plastic, we see this happen many time. It won't crack open when dropped lightly, it won't fuck up, it won't run out of battery, it's just got it all. Can definitely recommend

@@OWGAC - bro, it's not a matter of YOU'LL be safe. It's about all the unpredictable factors of other commuters (cars, bikers, etc) who YOU have NO control over and one wrong move from them can roll out a chain reaction of events and there goes your limbs.
Don't be cocky....get padded up when you ride and humble yourself. We need to ensure you stick around to provide us more fantastic videos.

This is what I am saying, we all be arguing if it have more or less torque than the MSX, but every single guy who got on it were blazing fast, its the wheel!

Heavier riders remain questionable for the "high performance" category. But every decision I have heard the designers make, seems like they listened to rider feedback

Coming from the esk8 world and very excited to step into EUC realm.
I don't get the stubbornness. I own a boosted, I love it. But those tiny ass wheels...even up to 120mm...can't compare to an 18" wheel that rolls over everything. Plus you're never going to beat the turning radius of a EUC.

Dang Hsiang! You got me changing my mind on the wheel that I wanted, and trying to save up for. Your video have been so good that now I want this wheel. I love the range, speed, and the durability. I was looking up at ewheel, and they say there's a deposit for preorder. I don't remember how much I think it was either five hundred, or a thousand dollars. I wish I can preorder mine so I can ride to. I know I won't be able to get it right away, but I"m so happy it's close to coming out. One more thing. I hope they have a seat for it like the Monster.
Its an expensive wheel, but for what you get its worth it I think, I was especially impressed with how well the wheel is built and survive that crash, worth it for that alone!
@@OWGAC The crash is what sold me to. After you showed how the monster looked like in a same crash looking worse. I just changed my mind in wanting that wheel. Plus the Vet Sherman has the longest battery range. I love it, and can't wait to get one probably after everyone gets theirs. I got to save for this machine. That was a great video like always.

@@OWGAC probably won't ever reach its full potential... but I made this my first wheel because the excess power.. I love knowing that it has enough power to pull me OUT of a bad sithation... or put me IN a bad situation.. just depends on my responsibility ...
This video maybe won't be clear to all people, but lately, we knew there was some bad press related with wheels, so yeah, it's great you talk a lot about such stuff. And it's also a good idea to take a look at the guts of the wheel- maybe that will force companies to care more about it.
I do want to be clear on presenting why people do the things we do, it looks reckless but its usually done in a control manner by really skilled ppl and for good reasons.

Riding at speed, weaving in and out among cars, trucks, and buses, all while holding a selfie stick and carrying on an informative discussion on how it all works, I'm in awe! The shout out he gives to the NYC riders towards the end is pretty cool too, how he refers to them as living to ride their EUC's, or words to that effect. I was seriously considering cancelling my S18 pre-order. But I'm an older rider and suspension would really be a welcome addition. Maybe later I'll be able to sell the old 18XL and get both!
They are completely different wheels and if anything I would suggest selling the 18XL as that wheel probably overlap with your S18 more. I haven't tried one yet but from what I heard once you rode the S18 you won't want to go back to the 18XL. And with the sherman, it'll be like having a jeep and a BMW!

Its made by a Russian company and NYtarzan sells it, but currently there’re no stock since shipping from Russia to here had been Locked up due to the virus. Once things open up I’ll prob do a review and provide more info
I'm SO pissed I'm 60 years old. I would live to ride these EUCs but afraid one spill will break most of my bones at my age. Enjoy these years when you can bounce back quickly.
If you go on euc forum there are several guys who's riding that's 60+! There're a few 80 year old guys riding, your young! =D
60 years is young age, specially for EUC. You can drive at very moderate and safe speeds and still have a lot of fun. Just like with bikes.

One negitive is the amount of dissembling needed to change the tire, from what I have seen. It appears a multi-pin connector half way down to the wheel motor hub would be a good mod.
Its a pretty typical problem most electric unicycle have. I do agree that the companies should do more to make this easier in the future!
@@OWGAC For the VS have you considered Rubber (from tires) used as rub strips and protection on roll points?
Pedal bottoms, cage wrap, etc.
There may be some interesting solutions that can work for many machines.... that are more fragile for impact resistance.
A rubber to metal band or stiff iron exoskeleton type protection.

Hi Hsiang; any chance you got a look at what the stock tire dimensions are on the sidewall in case we want to replace the knobby with a street tread? Was hoping we’d be able to make it a solid 80lbs and add a moped tire to it!

This seems poetry =) very interesting to see this evolution. For my usage, I think I have in that wheel too many weight and battery to justify my order. But this seems amazing, and I guess I would love to have one.. or a smaller version of it.. maybe it's the next step on the Veteran list (show the power with this wheel, and than a wheel to other audience)
Unless you need to carry it up and down stairs regularly I actually think the weight isn’t too bad because the trolley handle works very good. But this is a wheel that is all about speed and performance!
That's finally a wheel, the way the frame is constructed, you CAN attach it wit a chain in case you're not allowed to take it inside a grocery store 😃
I have never encounter any issues bringing my wheel into a store or building, but at least here in NYC I’d never lock something so expense (and awesome) and leave it!

Thank you! I blame the wheel, I am usually a mild manner sensible rider, but when I got on this wheel it whispers in my ear and make me do irresponsible things.. =D
I was so sure that in the next 5 years no craft would match this one that I bought two. Despite the array of new wheels in the market , including suspension provided devices which I think is the future, I feel I am arguably right so far... Who knows what the future will bring but keep your Sherman just in case... Not even the Max is that fast yet and who needs more torque anyways? This is a tarmac wheel with the ability of getting you through any rough path you may find along the way. Not an off road wheel that will still make it through almots anything you throw at it if needed. Keeping the distance, and once again arguably, this is like a Ferrari FF unicycle between your legs..
since a new Sherman cost $1k more, you made quite the smart investment!

I want to, but that connection at the pedal hanger is critical, I think the only effective solution is what they came up with here.

I suspect it won’t be anytime soon, suspension is very tricky to implement and likely too risky a move for a brand new company like Veteran to try to pull off.

Good review! But must say, I do not understand how several of you seem to be riding at high speeds in the street, without wrist-guards, not even gloves... (Also without knee protection)... That will really suck if/when you were to face-plant...
remember that some of these guys rides everyday and thousands of miles and is as close to "professional rider" as we have. when they are fully equipped for a "speed run" they are even Faster!! I would never be able to capture them in speed mode since I can't keep up!!

I don't believe so, but the law involved is pretty complicated and even the nypd likely don't know it well enough to write anyone up for it, I have never heard of a single ticket written for an euc rider

Very much so, strangely the sherman actually reminds me of the z10 with how “center” the weight felt

I think the monster will still have better stability because of the larger diameter wheel, buuuut the sherman comes close, you see how its bouncing when I riding it and it was perfectly fine? The acceleration is significantly better, scary better!

Thanks :), just a note, the firmware update story, came from a misunderstanding of a message Veteran sent me to a question from one of the buyers on the group order I organised in Europe before any EU dealers were pre-selling the Veteran. 12:15 Veteran said: IF there is firmware problem in this batch, we will send you downloarder to refresh firmware
Don't miss the "IF" at the start. They didn't say there will be a firmware update.
I have heard from a few different sources as well as from Veteran direct that they will look into the firmware and confirm if there were issues.

Thank you, you lucky! There have never been a time when there were more EUC choices than now! Keep in mind that it is not at all unusual for wheels to have day one launch issues so its usually better to wait for batch 2, this especially make sense for the new crop of suspension wheel given their complexity.

Definitely speed improvements are not acceptable for this category it can be great in e-scooters but this specific one!! Man the face in this situation is directly to the road. May god bless that's what i can say.
