My parents house in Ireland has been supplied by a spring for the last 30 years and never run dry. But on very rare occasions has become cloudy for a few days, usually after snow or very heavy rain. I'm going to do some research into why after watching this video.

    Hi, I love your videos, I'm a professional gardener and have worked in the trade for over 30 years. Just a bit of advice.... Ventilation is imperative with a greenhouse. Red spider mite loves hot dry conditions and it's a devil to control if you don't get the ventilation sorting. All the top pains of glass should be opening. I speak from experience. I was in-charge of a national trust garden for many years and one glasshouse had no roof vents and it was very hard to grow anything in, we had to retro fit rood vents in the end.

    • @JohnnyMotel99
      @JohnnyMotel99 3 года назад

      Perhaps the end walls will have venting panes.

    • @KrisHarbour
      @KrisHarbour  3 года назад +1

      The gable ends the back windows and the door are vents. I calculated it all and that is enough area for ventilation. The gable ends face the predominant wind direction so there will be air moving right through the roof. That is far better than just some vents at the top in my mind.

      Just a point of interest and perhaps the question will answer itself as you continue the build. How do you plan to vent the greenhouse during the summer days. From what I've been told plant growth tends to stop when the air temperature hits the 90s and above. A solar powered fan in the apex would help or shade cloth suspended above the roof also helps a lot. Take care and as always fabulous workmanship.

    Nice communication between you and your helper, I've seen so many people working with a helper and they always assume the other person is on the same page. Oddly enough the helper cannot read minds and you cannot read their mind. The job always goes much smoother with a few words. Check the nitrate content of your spring, anything above 15mgL and it isn't potable for human, and probably surface water drainage.

    I build 1/12 scale miniatures and would love to purchase the model greenhouse you built for the inspiration. Can you let me know if it is available??? I love your channel. Your craftsmanship is impeccable.

    You say “It looks like a propper greenhouse” in fact I think you’ve just constructed THE greenhouse by which all others will be judged!

    I'm currently designing my own greenhouse for reclaimed shower doors. Can you please explain how you attached the glass? Some sort of adhesive strip?

    I don’t believe that was in fact a spring inside your greenhouse. I think what you had there was just groundwater. I run into groundwater at my place if I dig down 24-36”. The area down in the woods is definitely a spring!
