Thank you SOOO much for featuring Zephyrhills. People always think it's where old people hang out. But it has so much interesting history, neat shops, and wonderful parks. As always, Jay, you show us the very cool parts of our wonderful state. Wishing you and Cris (Kris?) lots of ❤️
I just came across your channel and it was in my hometown!! Zephyrhills! Yes...commandoughs is great pizza and I went to the movie theater when I was young! Saw the omen, Benji, and bugs and frogs movies there! 😂 I didn't know they had the pioneer man here! And you should have went to skydive city!! It's a lot of fun!
A couple of things... First, the Tampa Wagon Ho was on Florida Ave just north of Busch Blvd. It was in front of Floriland Mall. I believe that is where Burger King now stands. Second, That Wagon Ho driver has been at that location for at least a couple of years. I mentioned it to Adam the Woo a while back. Also, Commandough's is very good pizza, but Mari's Doughnuts which used to be in that location was amazing! Kudos to Commandough's for giving them a nod with their Mari's Dough Knots!
Oh man this is so awesome, I'm in Dade City so it's really cool to think someone I follow on RUclips was so close to were I live. Awesome video as always!! There is a video game/comic book store neat downtown Zhills called Classic Contagious Games you might wanna check out next time you are in town.
Jay I have to say you continue to reach new levels of excellence. Nobody does Florida any better than you and you’re the absolute king of the haunts. Thank you for all the hard work you put in it definitely shows in the product you produce.
Love this channel. Great roadside attractions that do not stand out as the foremost tourist attractions that people gravitate to, but are worth visiting nonetheless. And then there is pizza. Nothing like delicious pizza to brighten the day and elevate the mood.🍕
Wow I would have never thought Zephyrhillsz would be featured on a RUclipsrs blog. Commandoughs pizza is the best, my family and I have always gotten pizza from there for years. Thank you Tampa Jay!
Really miss when the Car Auction place was also a venue for concerts, and had many 98. Rock festivals held there. Livestock I think it was called. Sad now that I live so close now they stopped doing shows there.
In my humble opinion, if Tampa Jay says it’s the best backroads pizza, then I know that’s exactly what it is! And hearing Buc-cee’s soulful voice always makes my day😂
Our generation probably eats the most pizza. I blame TMNT lol 😂 that tot pizza sounds good. And that flag box was really cool. Wish there was one of those in my area.
I just came here to say, you were 100% right about commandoughs. The pizza is ridiculous. Best around. My wife wants to go there a couple times a week now.
I just tagged you on Instagram on a post by AmericanGiants about your hometown giant with all the info where he is going after he gets a full restoration. We love going to see the giants too, glad we got to see him at the Ice Box before he got moved.
Florida had a lot of air bases during WW2. My dad was training to be a Navy pilot in South Florida during WW2. I will have to visit that museum. I really enjoy your back road videos! I am looking forward to when the channel reaches a 100k!
I'm 58 years old and I remember Wagon Ho which I believe was on Florida Ave just North of Busch Blvd across from Burger King. We ate there once when I must have been around 5 years old. I had some kind of sandwich with lots of sesame seeds on the bun and I didn't like it because of that.
There was a Wagons Ho Restaurant on Florida Avenue in Tampa. I wonder if the Pioneer Man came from that location? I also read online there was one on Tamiami in Bradenton.
Very nice video Jay! I lived in Z-hills from 2000 to 2009 in an old haunted house on the North East corner of 16th st and 2nd ave(my avatar is an actual photo of the ghost taken in 2005). The Wagon Ho pioneer used to be in the median at the entrance of that community. Rural King was Kmart back then, lots of nostalgia and I miss living there. Thanks for the great video!
Hi Tampa Jay it's Friday morning 10th May 8.30 over here in England I've just watched your videos glad you bought some snacks you wanted and some pizza pizza I dont like pizza but another great video thanks Tampa Jay 😀 😊 😉 👍 ❤❤
Back out my way, and shame on me for never trying Commandoughs, it’s been on the list, and I will definitely get over there now! 🍕🍕🍕 And those were definitely apartments that you saw not condos, there are new apartment complexes all over Wesley Chapel and Zephyrhills, in addition to new single-family homes or townhomes,I don’t know how we can fit any more people TBH 😩 Florida!!!
The pizza pizza was great. I’ve gotta try another one in that area called Piccolas. Someone suggested it. Thank you so much, Amy. All these apartments going up, hide the man for car washes crazy.
@@TampaJay oh yeah, the car washes are nuts too - one good thing is they all open at different times so I can get the one month special for really cheap and then cancel it - Knowing another new car wash is going to open soon 🤣 So Picolas pretty good, I have gotten pizza and a calzone before, but I actually like Sergios better… It’s just up from Piccola’s just a little bit closer to Morris Bridge. Capris is Zhills also good imo for “NY” style. And why didn’t you get free air from WaWa?!? 😆
Hey Jay, my hubby grew up in Zephyrhills and your video made him homesick! LOL That theater used to be called Home theater and that's where he watched all the movies of his childhood! Empire, Jedi and ET at least 30 times!! On Friday and Saturday nights that whole square smelled like popcorn. Thank you for your videos Jay! You and Cris the girl are AWESOME!!!!!
Jay, I lived in Zephryhills until I was around 12 or 13 and I remember going to that old movie theatre with my mom and grandma before she passed away. I saw Freddy’s Dead in 3D on opening weekend at that theatre! Thank you so much for the video, it really brought back all kinds of memories.
Funny, I live down in the Southshore area of Riverview, just east of the 301. Jason’s right, there are a lot of new neighborhoods and families moving into the area. Florida’s not all just retirees! Tons of young families are down here in the Tampa Bay Area too.
Thanks for another fun video Jay :) Mikesell's Chips is from my area in Dayton OH. The 113-year-old business closed down last year. They sold their rights and IP to Conn's Potato Chips? We will see if they maintain the same taste I have enjoyed since I was a kid :) I imagine that is the problem with the supply chain, but I don't really know :)
I live in Zephyrhills, they're having a one year moratorium on housing construction within the City Limits because the water infrastructure needs to catch up with the growth in that area. The Rural King there was a former K-Marr.
Mike Sells potato chips were from Dayton Ohio, and they went out of business after over a 100 years last year. I'm from Troy Ohio, and now live in Sun City Center Florida. Mike Sells were the very best potato chips someone could buy
You were quite young in the late 80's but I was curious if you happen to remember Mcdonald's moon head character "Mac Tonight"? I believe they tried bringing him back in the 90's but unfortunately that didn't last long.
These seated statues are 15 feet tall and Wagon Ho! called them “Wagon Masters”. The Pioneer’s hand positions suggest that the statue held reins or a whip but he never did. You asked if he had a name.
Check out the Pizza Joint in Crystal River - coal fired, real deal pizza and fall off the bone chicken wings out of the oven - even better than Anthony's Coal Fired down in South Florida!
The other aircraft is a Grumman Mohawk made in the late 50s. A rare aircraft. Maybe less then 500 made. And thanks for the Pizza place we are heading there tomorrow.
Got to go ahead and get your fiancée's ring repaired. It's always good to at least have some type of backup ring and it doesn't have to be expensive, just in case something like that happens again to the original.
Thanks for watching! instagram.com/tampajay
F The Wing House in Brandon!
MacDill Air Force Base
What Base do you use here with The Axis of Evil?😅
A group of people rented that theater about 10 years ago. They played movies from the '80s. I saw Back to the Future and Ghostbusters there.

Omg....your buc-ee voice!! 😂😂😂You had me laughing out loud! 😂😂💞
Love your backroads episodes. That pizza looked amazing. Safe travels to you and Cris the Girl! Wishing you both all the best.

Jay I have to say you continue to reach new levels of excellence. Nobody does Florida any better than you and you’re the absolute king of the haunts. Thank you for all the hard work you put in it definitely shows in the product you produce.
That’s a huge compliment I appreciate it! Lots of people who work hard and make great content!

Thank you so much!
Learned some new landmarks in Zeprhrhills by your video. Thanks Jay.
Very deserving of 98k and more great shows congrats 🎉
Thank you Lori
Great video jay! The pizza place said you are adding new customers !!🎉
Wow I would have never thought Zephyrhillsz would be featured on a RUclipsrs blog. Commandoughs pizza is the best, my family and I have always gotten pizza from there for years. Thank you Tampa Jay!
I’m glad to hear the pizza was worth the wait! Loved the phosphate long long train!!!
The wagon man was at JimBoast Dodge for years in Bradenton. Bradenton was my hometown and it was there for years.
Thanks for the great video Tampa Jay!
Thank you for joining me Steven

20:15 made me think of my favorite childhood tv show home improvement
I ran that old Theater for a while.
That pizza looks delicious! Another well produced episode. Thanks my friend.
Thank you
Great backroads video. Always enjoy watching. Your impersonation of buckey in the car was hilarious.
Can’t wait till 100k 🎉
That was a really good look round with you! Relaxing pace and very interesting 😊

I blame tmnt too haha
Busch Gardens sits on an old WWII Airfield.
I love how the chicken cross in the crosswalk 😂😂😂
I live in Zephyrhills and commute to Valrico for work. It’s crazy how much we’re growing. Never been to Commandough’s!
Commandoughs pizza is amazing. One of my favorite pizza places in the area.
Always busy 😊
@ that’s definitely a good thing. It means they won’t be disappearing like so many other small businesses.
@ one unique thing about it here is that we have tons of mom and pop places .
@@erics5810 absolutely. I love visiting the smaller businesses.
Rural king is freaking awesome we just got one in Bainbridge Ga also never heard of them puffs and then hear about them twice in one day.
I just came here to say, you were 100% right about commandoughs. The pizza is ridiculous. Best around. My wife wants to go there a couple times a week now.
Thanks for the backroads. I love all your videos and have from the start but the backroads are the best to me. Hugs and loves ❤️
Thank you, my friend. It’s some of my favorite Contant to create. Glad you appreciate it.!

when I was little my dad and I used to pass by him in Bradenton. His wagon also. Funny I thought it was a car lot.
I just tagged you on Instagram on a post by AmericanGiants about your hometown giant with all the info where he is going after he gets a full restoration. We love going to see the giants too, glad we got to see him at the Ice Box before he got moved.

You should have filmed inside Rural King, curious to see what it looks like inside. Great video.
Next time!
Nice video Jay. That's the leaning train of Pisa.
Hi Tampa Jay it's Friday morning 10th May 8.30 over here in England I've just watched your videos glad you bought some snacks you wanted and some pizza pizza I dont like pizza but another great video thanks Tampa Jay 😀 😊 😉 👍 ❤❤

That’s so cool man. I specifically remember seeing Freddy’s dead in 3-D at my hometown theater too. Thanks for watching man
We have Goin Postal nearby too. It's very convenient to mail out stuff, esp at the holidays. Closer than the post office. :).
There’s a wagon wheel guy in port Richey, Florida on top of a liquor store, used to be a wagon restaurant then a flea market now a liquor store.
Funny, I live down in the Southshore area of Riverview, just east of the 301. Jason’s right, there are a lot of new neighborhoods and families moving into the area. Florida’s not all just retirees! Tons of young families are down here in the Tampa Bay Area too.

It’s been years since I’ve seen a menu in that type of clear plastic fake leather binder thing, that place looked so cool, the Pizza looked great.
That is pretty old-school
Great video man, really enjoyed that.
I saw ET and Beverly hills cop in that theater
That’s so sick.
Mike Sells potato chips were from Dayton Ohio, and they went out of business after over a 100 years last year. I'm from Troy Ohio, and now live in Sun City Center Florida. Mike Sells were the very best potato chips someone could buy
Thank you so much. That’s some sad news right there. I love their potato chips. I thought they were from Ohio specifically their barbecue.
Good Afternoon Tampa Jay
I think Adam the Woo found one of those abandoned wagon restaurants out west a few years ago
My cousin used to live in Richland and took me there and Little Ninja Thai. He still calls the place Zephyrpills lol.
Meth r pills. Little ninja is great!!
I need another Tampa Jay filming locations soon for my 37th birthday.
What happened to the Rays last night bc they were supposed to 🧹🧹🧹🧹 Chicago White Sox
I was there. Still won the series. Rays didn’t play well. Almost swept the Sox.

You were quite young in the late 80's but I was curious if you happen to remember Mcdonald's moon head character "Mac Tonight"? I believe they tried bringing him back in the 90's but unfortunately that didn't last long.

Is it off of 466, I think. Shares the same building with a convenient store/ gas station.
The wagon ho dude has been at the current location for over 3 yrs that I know of.
