Video 2: Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTS) and Planting Optimistic Thoughts (POTS)

  • You may not realise it but the way you think determines the way you feel. Your thoughts create your emotions and feelings. Change your thoughts and you change your emotions and feelings, especially if they are negative. This is the subject of our second video where we examine ANTS - those “automatic negative thoughts” that enter our minds throughout the day. When these thoughts are bordering on the negative all of the time, we may experience negative consequences. To correct these ANTS, we need to Plant Optimistic Thoughts or POTS.
    This video is part of a research project funded by a CQUniversity Australia Scholarship of Learning and Teaching Grant. There are five videos that talk about various aspects of Positivity and contain Positivity exercises to assist students in enhancing their mental health and wellbeing, which are crucial in these difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The videos are progressively rolled out each week.
