- I had a lot of fun on the S1000R and enjoyed the similarities between my RR! I'm ready to jump out of my comfort zone with the next review. Harley? Cruiser? Touring bike?! YOU DECIDE! Leave a comment below.
I want to make one thing clear about my motorcycle review/first ride videos... My intent with reviewing is NOT as a track rider, NOT as an expert, but as your everyday motorcycle enthusiast/rider excited to ride something new. If you'd like more technical reviews there are plenty of other RUclipsrs who do them.

I have this exact bike. 2018 S10000R. Regarding the suspension, it was probably set up on road. Which is very soft. Nice for long rides or city rides. There is also a dynamic mode which is for a more spirited riding. Regarding the feeling of the front end at high speed. It does... Over 200 kph, the front wheel feels light... Lastly, regarding wind protection... When traveling, going 130/160 kph, it is ok. Faster or with strong winds, you do miss a bigger windscreen... Just my two cents... Nice video! Cheers.

Was also going to suggest this, since she wants to try different types of bikes and it was just sitting there next to the 1000R at the end of the video with the words "Demo Bike" on it.

I love this bike, everything you've said is exactly why I bought it, but I bought the windscreen and makes a world of difference. Great vid

I ride an S1000R and a KTM 1190, and was mind blown testing a K1600. It looks big, is big...rides small. Motor is amazing. Try one of those,it’s an experience.

You said that your dad should ride the S1R Kat. I'm probably older than your dad is and I've been riding an XR for three years. I am picking up a 2019 R tomorrow. I haven't done as much touring as I thought I would so it's time for some wind in the face riding. Incidentally, in every respect the XR is the best motorcycle I have ever owned.

Glad you liked the bike. I love mine. You mention stability in the front end. It has a steering dampener under the nose to help with that. It isn't top end Ohlins, but it works pretty well.
I'd like to see you review a bmw R nineT. It's what they call an heritage bike.

Kat, this bike is amazing! I picked up an '18 S1KR Premium in Lupin Blue last week, just like the one at the end of your video. It will sit nice next to my '18 BMW K1600b like I have pictured in my profile pic. It rides so nice. You should add this to your stable of bikes. Nice review!

You should definitely try a Harley Sport Glide. I have one and I love it. It’s a cruiser, but you can take the saddlebags and front fairing off and then you have a softail. A baby Street Glide essentially.
Good review ,Did you feel much vibration and buzzing through foot pegs and handle bars when riding around 6-8k RPM ?

Beautiful Ride, Beautiful Bike. You did a great job describing the single R. I absolutely love mine! I watched your Vids with the RR and knew the BMW was the way to go. I just didn't want to lean that far forward. Best decision ever Kat. I put the MRA windscreen on mine which really helped, and changed the exhaust to the smaller Akra. (your audio sounds amazing by the way). What would I like to see you ride next?... Triumph Street Triple RS baby! 💜 🏁

I honestly don’t think you did this bike any justice. I rode both the r and rr and the r is just much more fun on the road. The rr has its place on the track. I’m guessing you didn’t really get to feel full potential of this bike since it probably wasn’t broke in yet but Mayb find one that is and you will have a lot more fun.
Boss review of a fantastic bike, Love the feel of upshifting at 7k and the popping when going back down the gears 2018 s1000r. Have to say the wind has never bothered of spedds up 190 kmh ( AUS)
Very cool. I'm surprised they didn't want you to demo the XR1000 its similar but not. Have you thought of reviewing maybe the BMW1250GSA? Or too tall?

As much as you loved that bike, I think it solidified my next bike not being a naked upright. Grandpa Rick needs a proper supersport!

Sorry to bring up bad memories...but after your accident, did you have any aversion to lane splitting again? We don't have it here, but it keeps being brought up in the legislature. Also, I think this bike has a 32" seat height. Were you on the tips of your toes when you rode it? Thanks.
Add a VStream windscreen and SC Project slip on and this bike is a gem. Absolutely love mine.
Dynamic mode is the computer is making constant adjustments to the suspension. As opposed to you setting the suspension in the traditional means.
Ron Gittins DDC settings and engine maps are two different settings, when set in dynamic mode the engine map is different, power delivery is way more direct, wheelie control is active but limits at higher angle, abs trips later. Source : I have one of those sweet babies
@@GDamdam oh okn on Ducati V4 dynamic is under suspension settings engine power is on it's own separate setting.
Ron Gittins well to be fair this is tricky because on the S1000R 2017 the DDC settings are the also called « road » and « dynamic » as are some of the power modes, but they are not accessible by the same buttons and are not linked one to another
Love this video. I just found out today about a 2nd hand 2018 BMW S1000R for sale with only 2.500km on the clock. that is around 1.500 miles. it looks like new. but I new nothing about the bike so I have started watching videos. before finding out about this bike I was considering the Kawasaki Z900 RS or the Yamaha GSX900. but I think I like the BMW more than both of them. what is your opinion of the 2018 S1000r in 2023 ? ( you ride an RR but you think you lean forward to much on the R ? )
I love your reviews, I don't know what you're doing but these videos attract me so much. I've watched other youtubers doing reviews but I think they are not doing it correctly because I'm not that interested like I am on yours

Continuing this theme with the S1000XR that you parked beside would be fun, providing you're not too smol for it. Other than that, I'd definitely like to see cruiser rides. Maybe you could bring your sister on that one so she can give her perspectives having lived with a bike of that style?

I honestly love this bike, the only thing wrong with it for me is the front end, it just looks like it wasnt finished...
Like there is something missing, i wish they would have put a little more thought into that, and especially from the view of the rider, it just looks like something has been ripped off...

I highly recommend testing an R1250R ... the roadster boxer. Surprisingly fun bike that handles great and versatile.

Jumping from s1000r to a SDR you realise that it isn't in fact quick to turn in. That was the biggest factor for me when moving from one to the other.

Review the S1000XR, basically the same bike but a better looking front and wind protection. I have a G310R so my upgrade will be to a S1000R or a S1000XR.

Nice bike. I love the naked ones. You should try a Harley Davidson FXDR. Kinda like a cruiser/sport naked bike.

6:56 you should look in those trees to the left there is a "golden Boy" an older guy showed me and my buddy (the RC51 guy). It's interesting to see a golden statue of a moto guy in a tree. but yes that view is spectacular.. also great review and go try any and all things that are 2 wheels or 3.. :) cheers..

I love my single R, it’s a 2017 but no different from the 18s. It’s a super easy to ride bike, I’ve done a few upgrades to mine and documented it along the way. Check out my vids 🤙🏼
