Treat all your tables like one big party. As soon as they sit down tell them you’ll be right over with them, that gives you xtra 3 mins while you do something else. It still counts as a greet.

When it comes to topping wine glasses up, what if they’re trying to take their time or save the bottle? Would you recommend always asking before pouring?

Also, while I’m not a smoker, I think it would be weird a waiter was watching me that closely to know he would need to get me a lighter. That would make me uncomfortable being watched by my EVERY little move.

Where do terraces allow smoking ? Lighting someone’s cigarette would be a liability to the business. Where I come from they have banned smoking since 1995.
