Interesting rapport building technique. I bet it works well in the office setting. I might bring a box of sunglasses with me, as I see children in their home.

It really depends on the client but usually works well with kids aged 3-10

This sounds like a great technique! We have some playful animal masks in our playroom at work; I think I will try wearing one of those to great the child for the first session, until I can get a collection of sunglasses.
