I've been a psychologist and especially children's therapist for 10 years now, and this video was very useful and interesting, and also reassuring for me.
Excellent video. I just liked and subscribed. I am a child & adolescent therapist in Wheeling, WV. Very good helpful hints while working with this population.
Keep making videos Quenby; as an anonymous student finishing their licensing I’ve appreciated your videos and found them to be helpful in my own practice! Wanted to celebrate you!
Thank you for this! I wonder how you actually work with them/what you work on while they’re making these crafts? I feel sometimes these types of kids get engrossed in these activities and then don’t want to actually work on the skills they need to or talk about difficult things.
We often work together on the crafts and that is often when they are most open to talking about hard things. Active kids often need to do something with their hands, rather than just sit and talk, talk, talk. It's been the perfect time to talk about the hard stuff going on in their family, or whatever they were referred to therapy for. Keep in mind, these are little kids, so they are not going to have full, sustained conversations, like adults would. Thank you for your comment! Quenby Gallahan, LMFT

I'm a newbie therapist, and I always feel lost with the 8-11 age range. 😅

Thank you!
Thank you for sharing such nice techniques. Share techniques for a teen not expressive at all.
I have several videos on teens who are "resistant" and or won't talk in therapy. Feel free to check them out. Thank you Quenby
