It's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it... That's a lot of work, but the payoff is tremendous!! Your client should be very pleased with the finished look and protection that his car now has. Oh, and that wire wheel looking like Sideshow Bobs hair... 😂 😂 accurate description!!
Awesome job Joe! Looks so great! Wish that stuff was around back in the 70's! This reminds me of a friend of mine back in 1979, Danny, he had a 1970 SS chevelle 454, beautiful car red with black factory stripes, it was one of the slickest cars around. He put it up on blocks, cleaned the whole underside, scraping and cleaning and used a brush and painted the whole underside with roofing tar! It looked great though, it was hard to even find spray undercoating back then. He took meticulous care of that car and a guy kept hounding him and making offer's until he gave in and sold it in the mid 80's. It was broadsided in a intersection by a ambulance a few weeks after he sold it, thankfully no one was killed! I can't help but remember how black and dirty he got brushing the underneath of that car! Great memories!
I remember back in the late 60s Chrysler had a commercial showing the entire frame, floor , and trunk sheet metal being dipped in primer. They said it had electricity going through the primer to help it bond to the metal. They ran that until the mid 70's I think. I guess it didn't last very long. That car is before the dipping though. Another great video Joe. Thanks for sharing
Very nice job Joe. So many times, like 90 + %, people spend the time money and effort on body and paint and no time on the underside of the car. One more thing also, you really got a close up inspection of how solid this car is underneath. Awesome job. This really is alot of very hard work. Beautiful job. I wish my Dart was done like that. You are the underneath detail man!. Take care, Ed.
I spray the underside of my vehicles with Fluid Film. It lasts a whole year and protects everything from rust 100%. Stuff is great, but it is messy because it's an oil.
JustMopar Joe,The car looks great ! I personally stay away from any undercoatings, liners, sound deadeners etc, on my '65 Coronet (or any other performance car) because it is dead WEIGHT to haul around. It is fine for a cruiser. But going all the way back 40 yrs. to when i was learning round track racing,it was drilled into my head to lose unnecessary weight. Now it's turned into a lifelong obsession.
I really like the matte black underneath, great job . I actually went the extra mile and stripped the undercoating , many hours with a heat gun and scraper
Mopar Joe last step after clean and rinse I always wipe everything down with alcohol then you won't have to worry about flash rusting and your ready for that beautiful finish your putting on.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I usually use the spray way glass cleaner in easier to spray places. But I did use Nason Grease and Wax remover on this one. Took about 3 passes to get it wiped clean!
Yeah Joe it always nice to pop your rubbers off and get a nicer job!... As always a great job! Hey PPS style gun cups would allow you to spray upside down and they are cheep.

I was going to do my frame rails with por15 on the drag truck but this seems like it would be faster and cheaper. I am about 10 videos behind on your channel lol I watch them all. Sorry I have not emailed ya but I will get to that soon. Your not going to believe what I found on the truck. It's part plymouth. Ya no shit.
I like the cheapos from Harbor freight, but also you’d be surprised at the selection from Amazon and eBay. If this was my car, I would have upgraded to rust encapsulator plus or topcoated this with paint. Check out my recent d100 video, where I paint the engine bay. I use the rust encapsulator in a can as a primer over bare metal and rust spots, then shot Acrylic enamel right over it, after about 15 minutes.
Thanks I was looking for a better way to fight rust. I’m working on a 1994 dodge ram with a Cummins 12 valve. And not a Mopar but because of nostalgia I’m doing a 1964 Volvo Amazon 122 and will be replacing floor panels and generally getting rid of rust very soon
@@michaellyttle4347 awesome! You can also get the permatex rust converter in the white bottle at Oreilys. It is very acidic and turns to a black primer.

No sir. I used a paint stirrer in my drill and worked it well. It was plenty thin. I recommend top coating it for longer durability. In my last video, I used it as a primer for bare metal before applying acrylic enamel.
Hey Joe, right at 6:27 I see what looks like a serial number on the frame. I have had a bunch of 65's and never noticed that before... Is that what it is or maybe just a part number?
Hey Joe, just caught this video and it looks excellent. How long did it take with cleaning and painting? I have a 65 coronet 440 but I'am looking to improve the side trim on the car.. I used different polishes but it took me forever, 2 hrs. to do 3 inches. Did do anything to improve the finish? Thanks.
Thanks for watching! It seems like I was around 16-18 man hours total to get this done. It’s a pain on your back, but I let the tools do the work. If there was any factory undercoating that was really stuck, I worked around it.
Yes sir I have. POR15 requires a few more steps. You have to use a metal etch, which is acidic. Definitely wouldn’t want to lay in that on a creeper. Best I can tell, the Eastwood stuff stands the rest of time better. POR15 has to be topcoated. The sunlight will make it brittle.
I'm looking to do the underside of my 2011 crown vic with the Eastwood encapsulator but I've heard it's a great way to trap moisture and ruin the car. I'm wondering if there's any way I can avoid this fate or is it just an issue of not maintaining the coat?
Just like any paint, if there’s no moisture to trap, it won’t trap any. This stuff seals the metal and won’t allow air to get to old rust underneath. If you’re worried that it won’t stop the rust, you ca use a rust converter like the sell at Oreilys. I still think it’s good to top coat the encapsulator with an enamel.
