I think another thing that makes Batman Begins so great is how it's able to be its own story while building an excellent foundation for it's sequels. Batman Begins gets a proper ending and the Dark Knight is able to organically build off it, where some other comic book sequels just plop the main character into a new situation/dilemma just for the sake of a sequel. Batman gets over some of his fears and learns that being the Batman is the best thing he can do for Gotham. The Dark Knight sees those ideas get challenged, where he finds that Batman can only do so much, and how someone like Harvey Dent is something that Gotham really needs. And how the Joker makes him fear for Gotham's safety while also creating inner turmoil over his one rule. If he kills the Joker, then he becomes like the man who killed his parents, but he would also save the city he has dedicated his life for. If he doesn't kill the Joker, he puts the lives of everyone in Gotham at risk, even those he cares about. And all of that is able to be explored because of how Nolan took the time to really nail Batman in Batman Begins.

Even though Rachel needed more humanization to feel like a real person, the film needed that hotel scene. It was perfect and gave the later scene where he jumps off the roof top and repeats her words back to her more of an impact because he was pretty much telling her he was bruce Wayne by quoting her. I actually thought her character wasn't done that bad in this first film. However, she seemed to morph into Bruce's sound board for his fears, hopes, and dreams in the dark knight. Oh, and switching the actors kept anybody from getting emotionally attached to her, so nobody really cared when she died other than the fact of how bruce was impacted by her death.
He has a point tho. Batman Begins is definitely the best “Batman” movie in the trilogy, and The Dark Knight is definitely the best Joker movie ever and a better film than Batman Begins.

The importance of the father’s influence on a child but specifically a son isn’t more important, just more complex. It takes very little thought to express in words what the role in a child’s life a mother takes, and that doesn’t make a mother-son plot boring, it just means that it can never compare to the sheer volume of nuances and themes possible with stories involving fatherhood. Nolan has always been fascinated with the impact a father has on a child’s life(As seen in Inception/Interstellar) and the fact remains that there’s very little a more fleshed out Martha Wayne could add to an already excellent film(she can’t really add much to Bruce as a character anyway besides dying, as seen in how little she features in all Batman media.) Your criticism of Rachael holds valid until you acknowledge that the bulk of Nolan's characters, male and female, represent motifs and themes rather than act as conventional people, which I believe is one of his strengths.
Melissa May I agree also. The relationship between father and son is different and more impactful than between mother and son because a father is training his son to become a man. Great video though HiTop, love the feeling you put into ur vids!
I'm not against exploring Bruce's relationship with his mom or his mom as a character, but I think it makes sense to focus on his dad and his relationship with his dad here. No one like Alex makes me appreciate the things I already love more than initially did. no matter how well the Matt Reeves' The Batman movie does, I will always treasure this Nolan trilogy. And I hope the Nolan trilogy does not go forgotten. PS: Although, I do want 'the Batman' movie to do well. My most anticipated film of 2021!
Honestly I’ve lost interest in Matt Reeves’ Batman now that it, Shazam 2 and Flash have been pushed to 2022. I swear to God, the more WB keeps pushing movies back or leaves the highly anticipated ones in developmental hell, I have no faith in WB. And before anyone says it’s the pandemic, lately, it’s been a joke lately; the mainstream media keep force feeding us numbers of increased cases but never numbers of recovered cases. The coronavirus is real, but it’s blown out of proportion politically DELIBERATELY and used as a way to keep people fearful and complacent, which affects everything within the country.
@@EricGraham94 Well those numbers killed a few of my loved ones , so how about you leave that weirdo political bullshit at the door and enjoy talking about the movies , Yea? K thanks .
Batman begins is a masterpiece , just an amazing film my favourite film ever. And bale gave such amazing performance and his acting was incredible bale is the best actor that played batman.
honestly, Batmen Begins is my favorite of the trilogy. and honestly, it has Bale's best performance as Bruce and Batman (variations on his voice especially,, Dark Knight and Rises were ridiculous with his vocal performance)
13:59 - Bruce: I wanted to save Gotham. I failed. Alfred: Why do we fall, sir? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up. Bruce: You still haven't given up on me? Alfred: Never. Damn it! It still hits just as hard as the first time 😢
IDGAF what anyone says Batman Begins is one of the most beautiful superhero origin story movie I've ever seen. I love this movie so much that I prefer the first one than the other 2.
As a person who grew up with the nolan series this was the first piece of batman media i was exposed to,at that young age the movie both terrified me and engrained a sense of wonder along with an obsession with the dark knight
"A Batman that doesn't ask for recognition or praise or light." Me: "Isn't EVERY Batman pretty much like that?" *Remembers Batman And Robin Poison Ivy Auction Scene* Me: "Eh, you know what, nevermind."
Dude ive commented before....but i gotta say again...youre a full decade younger than me..but youre grasp of comic book lore...and how its adapted to screen really Effin' impresses me. i grew up in an african town where i was the only living breathing soul who knew the differance between dc and marvel in a million mile radius. i didn't meet another person who knew as much about comics as me until i was 16!...as a kid i watched the 90's marvel fox kids animation block..iron man..fantastic four...spiderman and hulk...so thats my origin story....i was 10 or 11 when i saw the first teaser for Sam Raimi's Spider Man One...and i nearly had a heart attack! So when i see how much love ,passion and understanding you have for comic books and comic book related properties it really tugs on my Heart strings! May all your dreams come true!
It is incredible how you understand so well what, not only, Batman means but what Nolan wanted from his film. I met tour Channel by the "Batman does not Kill video" and then I've been amused with your love for the characters, for this symbol that I love só much as well. Thanks for this videos, Man!!
I really hope that Alex sees this because this is going to be a long one, so here we go..... I LOVE this movie sooooo much, I have seen it at least 100 times and it never gets old. What this movie and the rest of the dark knight trilogy mean to me are what the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy mean to you. My favorite version of batman will always be the animated series but this movie is so damn good. As much as I am hyped as hell for Robert pattinsons Batman, bale will always be MY batman. Up until this point my favorite RUclips video of all time was "batman does not kill" but honestly....this duology might have it beat, as always you have poured your heart and soul and passion into making this video and I adore it. You have made an excellent tribute to this amazing movie and I can't thank you enough :-) p.s. cant wait to see the plumber
Yep. Begins is my absolute favourite in the trilogy. It may not be the “best” but I love it most! Plus, Katie Holmes is WAAAYYYYY better as Rachel than Maggie Gyllenhaal.
I can see that argument tbh. The Joker wins in that movie and proves his ideology is right over Batman's. The boat gimmick is a decoy, cause Harvey is the real test. Him failing shatter's Batman and turns him into a liar helping cover up crimes to push his narrative and laws just like any bad cop. Batman became corruption. TDK is a great Joker movie, unlike Joker (2019). He proves his world view correct over his greatest enemy.
I think Thomas is mentioned so much because in a way that's who Bruce was trying to be, or more so who he was trying to make proud by fixing the city, like when Thomas explains what he did with the trains to help those less fortunate at the start of Begins, as well as when tells Bruce "It's okay. Don't be afraid" moments prior to his death, which leads to Bruce eventually becoming the Batman
That was the one jarring thing about the dark knight, Gotham didn’t feel like a character, didn’t feel the same. But I guess the reason for that was to make Gotham represent more of the audiences own habitat, the every city. Less of a caricature so that the story could feel as weighty as it needed to be.
Did anyone notice how, toward the very end when Hitop Films is praising Nolan for making Batman Begins his way, literally a piano version of Frank Sinatra's "My Way" is playing in the background? Well played, Alex.
I saw this opening day first showing at midnight. From the opening shot I was beaming, as they had FINALLY made a BATMAN movie that I had always dreamt of. Between the beautiful cinematography, the physically capable (at last) live action Bruce, and the all star cast, this was a movie that will always have a place in my heart.

*Alfred:* _(points to screen)_ What do you call that?
*Bruce:* _(sees HiTop Films logo)_ Damn good RUclips.
No one like Alex makes me appreciate the things I already love more than initially did. He is such a talent, such an unapologetically passionate person, that can make the simple things that go into crafting a film (like how the important and impactful scenes slow down and let the viewer feel what the character feels at that moment) carry an importance to guys like me who usually don't take the time to notice those small but imperative details. Thank you Alex and Jeff.
I honestly rlly like the style of fight scenes in this.
Gives us a chance to struggle with batman.
The narrows was such a beautiful visual and so different from Nolans usual clean looks
The bat signal: turns on
Thug: its da bat!

no matter how well the Matt Reeves' The Batman movie does, I will always treasure this Nolan trilogy.
And ‘The Batman’ movie just got push to 2022.
@@EricGraham94 same tbh im still gonna see it tho
@@EricGraham94 Well those numbers killed a few of my loved ones , so how about you leave that weirdo political bullshit at the door and enjoy talking about the movies , Yea? K thanks .
*Finally someone who realized that Batman Begins ...............................IS THE BEST BATMAN MOVIE !!!!*
Batman begins is a masterpiece , just an amazing film my favourite film ever. And bale gave such amazing performance and his acting was incredible bale is the best actor that played batman.
Legit one of the best essays you've ever made.
Did you see this one ruclips.net/video/IJxilBSJRxo/видео.html
honestly, Batmen Begins is my favorite of the trilogy. and honestly, it has Bale's best performance as Bruce and Batman (variations on his voice especially,, Dark Knight and Rises were ridiculous with his vocal performance)

I never thought I’d hear the F1 podium music in an American film RUclipsr’s video about Batman but yet we are
13:59 - Bruce: I wanted to save Gotham. I failed.
Alfred: Why do we fall, sir? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.
Bruce: You still haven't given up on me?
Alfred: Never.
Damn it! It still hits just as hard as the first time 😢
Neva*
I cried the first 10 times I watched this movie
IDGAF what anyone says Batman Begins is one of the most beautiful superhero origin story movie I've ever seen. I love this movie so much that I prefer the first one than the other 2.
Damn, you weren't kidding when you said that these Begins videos might be your best. Bravo.
"I never said thank you."
"And you'll never have to."
The essence of Batman. Thank you Nolan ❤
dude you are the only youtuber that makes the sponsored part of the video entertaining to the point that I don't skip it
As a person who grew up with the nolan series this was the first piece of batman media i was exposed to,at that young age the movie both terrified me and engrained a sense of wonder along with an obsession with the dark knight
I going to re-watch Batman Begins because of this video. This is a 10 out of 10 essay.
"A Batman that doesn't ask for recognition or praise or light."
Me: "Isn't EVERY Batman pretty much like that?"
*Remembers Batman And Robin Poison Ivy Auction Scene*
Me: "Eh, you know what, nevermind."
In B&R I think that was to lure Freeze out.
@@Dagenspear what about his bat card den
Might as well do the entire trilogy, since you did a great job in this movie! Very well done
That beginning advertisement…. I think I woke the neighbors up screaming, “owwwww!!!”
Batman begins is one of the best movies I have ever seen and the best Batman movie
5:05 when it's night in Gotham and Freddy faznolan comes out
Loving the content Alex! Can’t wait for the Plumber
Batman Begins is my favorite Batman film.
Batman Begins was always my favorite of the Nolan trilogy and this video goes over so many reasons why that is.
Great video as always!
LEZ GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!
It is incredible how you understand so well what, not only, Batman means but what Nolan wanted from his film. I met tour Channel by the "Batman does not Kill video" and then I've been amused with your love for the characters, for this symbol that I love só much as well. Thanks for this videos, Man!!
I love it
“Why did Warner brothers get greedy, fail, fall..” after that I almost thought you were gonna go with “die trying” like in Spider-Man
You should watch this vid ruclips.net/video/rfUwDvrnMCQ/видео.html
I was so waiting for it. Disappointed that it didn't happen. 😆
The power went out at 5:05
Disney should take notes on not just this movie, but this video essay.
It was Nolan who wanted the deepr voice in the later films. It was actually rerecorded in post for TDK.
Damn, I wanna see the original version without the shitty voice #ReleaseTheBaleCut
MrGuy Productions OMG YES PLEASE. #ReleaseTheBaleCut
perhaps it had something to do with the fact that Bale kept losing his voice in TDK?
3:27 SWEAR TO ME!!!!!!!!
I swear this is one of the best Batman videos on youtube.
FINALLY YES THANK YOU SO MUCH
Hitop films has the only video essays you can watch 20 times in a day. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the dark knight, dude
“For my dark knight to rise”
Jeez Alex
Great movie and a great analysis but i cried when heard about Jeff may he rest in peace
The dark knight rises is 100% underrated
Yeah
I see batman and HiTop Films and I'm like "YEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!"
BasketCase 420 ruclips.net/video/rfUwDvrnMCQ/видео.html
When it comes to the voice, he honestly was still probably doing that voice in TDK but if I remember correctly they edited it in post production.
You are right....Nolan went in and made it more gruff in post production
#ReleaseTheBaleCut
I really needed the ball shaving thing, thanks Alex
It's kind of amazing how much you improve with your filmmaking each video. Keep up the good work, man!
Please. And I say please. Make this for all of the movies in this series
This movie is like Spiderman 1 from Sam Raimi: Both are fantastic films overshadowed by incredible sequels
Best movie reviewer/talker youtuber ever
After doing the Dark Knight and Rises, I would like to see a video on Under the Red Hood. That movie deserves more recognition.
You have made an excellent tribute to this amazing movie and I can't thank you enough :-)
p.s. cant wait to see the plumber
Saying Chris Nolan understands Batman isn’t accurate enough, he understands both Bruce Wayne and Batman
Loved the use of "My Way" in the conclusion, right as you were stating your points leading up to the final thesis.
Yep. Begins is my absolute favourite in the trilogy. It may not be the “best” but I love it most!
Plus, Katie Holmes is WAAAYYYYY better as Rachel than Maggie Gyllenhaal.
This is my favorite superhero movie of all time and one of my favorite movies ever. So glad to see HiTop making a video on it. So excited!!!!!
I can’t wait to watch “The Dark Knight is a bad Batman movie” next week
BasketCase 420 did you see the truth behind jokers madness ruclips.net/video/IJxilBSJRxo/видео.html
Man I'd LOVE to see your ideal batman solo film/ trilogy of films, I've never forgotten how perfect your venom 2 flick ideas were
Imagine if hitop finally put out his short film I’ve been waiting for forever (I’m practically begging pls )
Soon!
5:05 it seems that Fredrick Fitzgerald Fazbear has been seen stalking the hallway!
He said “fail, fall” I was waiting for the “die trying”
Less of a caricature so that the story could feel as weighty as it needed to be.
literally hitop is the only creator that i would happily engage with an ad for a product that i would never need to use
Did anyone notice how, toward the very end when Hitop Films is praising Nolan for making Batman Begins his way, literally a piano version of Frank Sinatra's "My Way" is playing in the background? Well played, Alex.
5:05 HITOP FILMS LOOK OUT! YOUR ABOUT TO GET JUMPSCARED!!!!
I feel Nolan and Villeneuve have the same approach to CGI. They know when to use it and when to combine it with photography.
I felt the pain when he mentioned cutting his balls because I have gone through this same tragic horror
