  • MAKS 2021 Airshow kicks off in Russia!
    Let's celebrate with these awesome images of Sergey Bogdan upsetting Newtonian physics with the mighty Sukhoi Su-57, 5th generation fighter aircraft, in an airshow at Ramenskoe airport in Zhukovskiy!
    Also looks like new russian fighter jet concept (Sukhoi Su-75) has just been unveiled (UAC #checkmate) but we all know the Su-57 is still the most beautiful and sexy bird! :D
    Sergey Bogdan (Сергей Богдан), chief test pilot of the Sukhoi Company and Hero of the Russian Federation always performs mind-boggling flight performances, filled with unearthly figures, gravity defying stunts and pretty aggressive post-stall maneuvers flown with masterful showmanship, taking advantage of the many features from the magnificient aircraft design by Sukhoi.
    The Sukhoi Su-57, previously designated T-50 (Сухой Су-57 / T-50) is a single-seat, twin-engine, stealth fighter aircraft with multirole capability but designed for air superiority and attack operations. This jet aircraft is the product of the PAK-FA (ПАК-ФА, Перспективный авиационный комплекс фронтовой авиации, literally "Prospective Aviation Complex of Frontline Aviation"), a fifth-generation fighter programme of the Russian Air Force. The first prototype performed the maiden flight on January 29, 2010. Deliveries of production aircraft to the Russian Air Force have already begun, with a current order for 76 aircraft having been placed by the Defence Ministry of Russia.
    The fighter is intended to succeed the MiG-29 and Su-27 in the Russian Air Force and to serve as the basis for the Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) while complementing the recently built fleets of SU-35S and SU-30SM. The initial production batch are to be delivered with a highly upgraded variant of the AL-31F engine, extensively used by the Su-27 family while a totally new turbofan jet powerplant is being designed from scratch. In fact the first prototype of this engine has already been fitted into a SU-57 airframe and has already begun testing.
    The Su-57 has a blended wing body fuselage and incorporates all-moving horizontal and vertical stabilizers. The aircraft incorporates thrust vectoring nozzles and has adjustable leading edge vortex controllers (LEVCONs) that improve high angle of attack behaviour. The advanced flight control system and thrust vectoring nozzles make the aircraft highly maneuverable in both pitch and yaw, enabling it to perform post-stall maneuvers such as the Pugachev's Cobra and the Bell maneuver, along with doing flat rotations with little altitude loss. The aircraft's high cruising speed and normal operating altitude is also expected to give it a significant kinematic advantage over older fighter jet generations.

    i think the reason for that is russians make their planes unstable on purpose, it's a good thing actually and that's why their fighter can do a post-maneuver stunt aka cobra
    I searched about how can they do that, it's hard to find i didn't find anything about it, idk
    But i have a game called simpleplanes where you can build planes and it has very very realistic physics
    I figured that if your center of mass is close to center of lift you can probably do a cobra maneuver, but damn the controls are VERY slippery it's very hard to control
    You need to do everything perfect by aerodynamics and weight balancing and it actually needs a lot of time, you need to not make the plane uncontrollably unstable but make it like it's drifting in the sky at the same time, thought using a sensitive AI computer that puts very little values to rotate the elevator and canards if the plane had canards.. They probably use that
    But anyway, russians are crazy

    • @Airguardian
      @Airguardian  2 года назад +28

      You are on the right track, but not quite there yet. As you comment, aerodynamics and mass balancing (CG vs CP) plays a big role but not the only one. I mean, you can make a stable aircraft perform a cobra maneuver too. The hardest part usually isn't pulling the maneuver, but recovering from it, that's where the real magic lies, and it also involves engine design robust enough so that the engines don't stall. Ultimately, any well balanced aircraft (even stable ones) will be able to pull the maneuver if they have enough authority (Stabilators, thrust vectoring, canards, etc) but then, to be able to get the plane back to level and continue forward flight is what's truly tricky. ;)

    Hello Russia from U.S.A. Man can this guy fly. Simply awesome. I'd love to fly with him. I flew in the U.S. Marines with test pilots on test hops after a/c repairs. Test pilots are nuts. This guy is in the top ten test pilots in the world. These guys can take just about any plane on any given day and make them dance so beautifully. It's a shame they must be war machines. Most military types would probably rather sit with their so called enemy (thanks to politicians) and have a drink. Maybe someday I pray. As a side note. I'd love to visit your military museum in Moscow someday. So big. So my Russian Brothers and Sisters have a great day.

    • @grah55
      @grah55 2 года назад +2

      @@alexost5107 Jingoist detected. The planes are highly comparable and while "Absolute domination" may be a stretch, saying the reason that it's bad is because 1 jet is on a completely different production schedule is silly. You would compare both aircraft in their optimal configurations and squadrons or in a 1v1 scenario.
      For both scenarios but especially the latter, you're dealing with BVR fights and fed telemetry about the incoming threat. The USA has a stronger edge there due to satellite technology. The radars in both sides aircraft are comparable. Fire and forget air to air cruise missiles which scan and lock onto enemy aircraft are operated by numerous nations including Russia and USA. The kill capability of them in all nations are extremely high. The U.S. citizens and the Russians do not want to be targets to the other's missiles. They don't want to be the targets to anyone's missiles. Both nations feel the threat of the other and are operating cautiously wherever they go because of the threat of long range missiles whether SAM or air air.
      So again, sure it's not "absolute domination" but over time when even the numbers are balanced enough to have fight scenarios between the 2, neither side would be "dominant" and both sides would actually just be "screwed". Due to this knowledge, what you will see is USA and Russia working together far far more than against each other. They already were conducting many air operations together over many years. Social media has allowed silly foolish warmongers to voice their closeted opinions on matters involving aircraft, completely ignorant of the human lives inside the cockpits or on the receiving end of potential ordinance.

      @@nickclements1683 no actually take a look at the northrop f23 and the su 57 -different
      but you know what was cloned? the f15 was a copy of the mig 25 down to the side intakes and the twin fins
      and you know what else was cloned? the concorde yes the fucking concorde was a less capable copy, slower, less passengers, copy of the tu 144
      oh sure we westerners have this childlike fantasy that the tupolev 144 was a copy but riddle me this if the tupolev was a copy why did the copy first fly in 1968 and the concorde flew later in 69? strange aint it
      in actual fact none of these aircraft were copies of each other-capable designers using contemporary technology basically came up with the most efficient solutions they could- results were that the aircraft came out very similar looking just like the boeing 707 and the dc 8 and in fact all these new boeing airbus models
      but westerners have this bizarre need to denigrate russians since they can longer insult black people
      you see nick-you cant no longer call blacks niggers because they now will break your face and you miss that so you compensate by pretending to be buzz lightyear aerotechnician extraordinaire and see a russian fighter-it has two engines and two fins-originally from the mig 25 as you now know, and so you go back and try to find a western fighter with two engines and two fins and lo and behold eventually something will turn up are you sure the sue isnt a copy of the eurofighter? it got one fin just to be primitive but heck far the ruskis added another best check again, boy or better yet why dont you look at star wars agin? im sure you find something there that the russians copied
      hell boy, you fuckin blind? or just slow? the north and the sue dont look anything alike

Now, imagine something small, relatively cheap and unmanned, deployed in superior numbers and capable of A.I.
