Is there a reason why every corner is worked a little diffrent? Like one is 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc and another one is 3 dc, ch 2, 1 dc

So that it will form a square. There are 5 petals = every corner worked different to make it square. If you make same pattern for all petals, it will form as Pentagon not square.
