    Unbelievable equipment.Back in 1960s the company I worked for ran 28 miles of 12 inch gas line with one 944Cat louder and four welders.

    Pretty sure they caught the sides of the trench when they started. Coating damage ?

      Easy to repair ...but before that, it would undergo holiday testing first.

      @@ericbrown375not the biggest fans of the Liebherr to be honest, but I came from the open cab era so little biased. The 1050’s are the Rolls Royce for sure though

    How long pipeline can be lowered with side booms in single operation?

    • @ElEsDee71
      @ElEsDee71 2 года назад +5

      Endless, they assemble on top, weld it, check it, and a mile (or whatever) down the road the pipelayers put it in.. the system can keep going on as long as you need it to be. 🙂 You do not want flanges underground, these will give you trouble.. flanges do not flex, they rust, leak, are weak points. If they need to divide the pipe to put in a shutter or pumping system, they weld a curved pipe so it comes above ground, en only above ground will be flanged because it needs maintenance. Everything undergroung should be welded. Overnight the sidebooms will just stop, and the pipe might be secured on top with a nice beefy bulldozer to make sure everything is still upright in the morning or after heavy rainfall.
      I have done it a couple of times with crawler cranes, which is waaaaayyyy slower and seriously tricky.. sidebooms are old fashioned equipment that is still best suited for this job.

      Pipes are factory coated with 3 layer PE.

    Looks like they screwed the welders by lowering it in with not enough pipe into the bell hole . 6 feet (2 meters) past the end of the bell hole is a minimum standard

    That is by far one of the worst starts I’ve seen with lowering in for trying to get the pipe on the ground. Catch that swing, it should never hit the side walls like that, while it might not do much damage, that is complete amateur hour for those boom hands .

      That was pitiful watching that pipe swinging hitting the edges of the ditch. The GREEN TEAM?
