The animation on this was honestly a shock. Such top tier animation for a hand to hand fight, to the point where you can see each and every little detail of the moves used and all the blocks. From a SCHOOL ANIME.
From a martial artist i would like to say that the techniques were pretty realistic but also that i liked it more in the LN Cause of the fact that kiyotaka uses simple techniques and thats also the most effective stuff
The crazy/scary thing is Ayanokoji wasn’t even going all out in this fight and he himself mentioned that he was stronger in the White Room than right now. We didn’t even see him in his peak 😭😭
Best part has to be when Ryuen threw all those knees, and punches and was like “You feel the fear now Ayanokoji?!” And literally all his attacks got blocked. Like bruh, did you not see or feel this man’s arm blocking all your strikes.
Actually he didn’t block them in the LN he let all of this hit him to see if ryuuen could teach him that fear he was talking about but it turned out just like in the anime
@@KingDontre He was blocking the hits to the face so he didn’t have any injuries that could be seen, as that would indicate that he was involved in a fight. He actually didn’t block the hits to his body. After all he did say in the LN that he did feel the pain of getting hit but it was just pain to him as, after a while of experiencing pain and fear in the white room, he just started to feel cold instead. In conclusion, he was in fact blocking the hits to the face but not the body shots. On another note, I would have liked if they included the inner monologues of his past in this scene as it felt like one of the few times he was telling the truth in his own thoughts. For example how he said he knows the despair of losing all too well as he has seen many children break under the pressure of loss , or that he himself used to cry and fear pain up to a point in his childhood. Great adaptation of the scene nonetheless.
@@nathangreen4327 You guys keep talking about the light novel, but I’m talking about the anime where he clearly blocks all the hits. Hats off to Lerche the animation cuts in earlier episodes were worth it! Everything in this episode came together perfectly, from the animation to music to Ayanokoji forcing Ryuen to feel fear with his lack of emotions
In the light novel its a significant amount different. Ryuen realized quickly he would lose, but was still having fun with it until Ayano revealed that he felt nothing the entire time. To ryuen, losing or winning each individual battle doesnt matter, its the final result whihc means everything.
You know, the thing about Ryuuen is that he is not scared of failures. In the LN, he was beaten up multiple times from the moment he was born, he was defeated, humiliated, bamboozled, etc. but he never gave up. Ryuuen won the war by understanding his opponents through battles, although he suffered losses sometimes, he kept trying until he won. He would be the main character in his world, to be honest, but his childhood is so twisted that he became who he was now.
That was a 10/10 episode. I just wish they had animated the famous panel (LN readers know) where Ayano looks down at Ryuuen with the beast gaze. Even if that was just the imagination of Ryuuen, that really would have been the crowning glory of the episode, but I don't want to complain too much. Thank you Lerche 🔥
