Season 3
It feels kind of weird to me the way this episode ended. Overall, it was a great episode, but then it just ends and the season is over. No aftermath from the fight, despite us knowing that there are people just outside who are going to have opinions about how things resolved. I expect the next season must begin pretty close to where we leave off but the way it just ends leaves me feeling a bit empty, despite the obvious victory over a major enemy. It almost feels like theres supposed to be an episode 13, but the episode list only showed 12 so I guess thats all for now
@@kevinrock3520 There are 13 episodes and they already announced season 3.
What a thoughtful person ayanokoji is, he took his sweet time with ryuuen trying to learn how to feel pain and at the same time teaching him what fear is, he also let him taste a bit of his piano and calligraphy skills, what a generous man he is
💪
So generous indeed
mid anime bro they legit rip off nishikiyama and make him get bodied
The piano a calligraphy thing always get me
Problem is Ryuuen did not feel fear
I think what I liked most about this was how Ayanokoji gave Ryuen NOTHING of what he wanted. The whole time, Ryuen tried to pull some kind of reaction out of him. When he realized that he wasn't special to Ayanokoji, that the fight was the equivalent of taking out the garbage on a Tuesday for him, it broke him. Loved it from start to finish. Give your enemy nothing.
"For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day in your life, but for me? It was Tuesday." - Street Fighter 94
I like how you worded all of that! When I watched the episode on Monday and got to this point where Ayanokoji says, "A mundane task like this stirs nothing in me". I interpreted it as, "You are the bug beneath my shoe. I feel absolutely nothing squashing you." 🤣
But y Tuesday....
Could be Friday...

Ayanokoji: “I’ll entertain you on the stage of your choosing.”
Also Ayanokoji: “Well, I kinda chose the stage too.”
He already knew Ryuuen would choose this stage, so in my eyes she just sped up the process of what Ryuuen would want.
Lol, turned their play against them.
underrated comment💀
I wouldn’t be surprised if he was the one who created earth
Can someone explain this though? He said that he manufactured the whole situation to be a bronze only fight but how? He barely did anything. Is this just one of those, make him look smart even though there wasn’t much he could’ve done
Ryuen lost the battle, and when he looked into Ayanokoji’s eyes, he realized that he lost the war too.
Agreed
Yup sounds about right! I enjoyed the fighting scene Ayanokoji went John Wick mode and made Ryuen’s crew go to sleep lol
Rather, he realized it was never a war.
@@amador4417 Is it really John Wick mode? Ayanakouji felt nothing, JW was driven by revenge.

In reality, they couldn't be more different.

Ryuuen didn’t care about defeat. He was never scared of losing. He has lost tons. Wether it be a fight, or a battle of wits. What scared him most is a man that was beating him with no sense of emotion. He was just bored. He’s been beaten by people who were happy, angry, sad, but not one that simply considered it all boring and stared into his soul with a blank face. Lerche did well with the showdown of the goats.

Didn't expect this level of animation from this studio. All the budget went into this and I'm glad. "Ayanokoji lefted him looking like a One piece character" - Yaboyroshi 😂
Yaboyroshi reactions are on another level
They did one of the Fate series anime, don't remember which, but they have the potential
It's rotoscopy, they have drawn above a real video of a fight
I can almost guarantee that this was one of, if not the very first project they started when it went into production, which I'm grateful for. You can just tell that they wanted to do this portion justice.
I'm always willing to overlook poor animation as long as there's something substantial like this to back it up.
some people were complaining about a decrease in animation quality in the beginning of s2. guess this is were it went and honestly? good call

Ryuen: "I've never felt fear once in my life."

I liked the detail that there's no music at the end, music is a great tool to enhance emotions in a scene so they just remarked the lack of emotions in Ayanokouji

Ryuen: “I’ve never felt fear before in my life”
Ayanokoji: “so anyway I started punching…”
To actually beat ryuen, you have to beat his ego since he considers losses as learning experiences (trial and error) so at the end he realizes no matter how hard he tries, he won’t be able to invoke a reaction from daddykoji
For Ryuuen, it was the fight of his life. For Ayanokoji, it was Tuesday.
😂 for real this was nothing to him
For those who want to know who animated this fight, apparently lerche bought Yu Kiyuna, he's responsible for also animating ruijerd vs dragon god orsted and eris traning fights with ruijerd in mushoku tensei
Dang but what if mappa animated the fight
That animation in Mushoku Tensei was great, if only more animes had a budget like that, and not pass the animation to multiple other studios like this series got
I thought I recognized it from somewhere
that fight was so good that I rewatched it multiple times same with this one so no wonder

Class C: What happened to you Ryuen?
Ryuen: Piano and Calligraphy
I love the detail of the music just completely stopping the moment ryuen realizes ayanokoji feels nothing at all
Ryuuen: I've never felt fear
Ayanokoji: 😐
Ryuuen: I FEEL FEAR
Ayanokoji really just pulled up like he was doing something as casual as a walk in the park and Ryuen didn't understand there was no satisfaction, only pain and later came fear.
Yup
Imagine being the guy always able to get a rise out of someone, whether that's fear, frustration or even despising you, you knew you were in their heads some way. Then you meet this guy, you've thrown everything you had, he's beating you senseless but there's nothing, no emotion like it's just a mundane task.
That's why he's so afraid, because he can't get into his head any way and physically he easy outmatches all of them.
🤓🤓🤓
Ryuen couldn’t get in my head either if I was Ayanokoji, he could knock Ryuen out in a second if he wanted to

a man that keeps his calm in every situation is a man not to mess with
Ryuen: “I’ve never felt fear once in my life”
Ayanokoji: “Yet”
I love how the music ends and shows that this isn’t an epic fight but just a beatdown. Ryuen really thought that this was a battle for history while Koji were there like ”ok”
Ryuen thought he could beat Ayanokoji mentaly, but then he realized who the protagonist is...
The animation looks so fluid, I’d believe it if the animators asked some people to fight each other and just mocapped it. I almost feel like I need to call the police.
Yeah the animation was rotoscoped
The music just dying along with Ryuen's confidence as Ayakonoji dispassionately beats him into unconsciousness is probably the best part of the whole show.

Ryuen's never felt fear. Ayanokouji's never felt anything.
2:02 dang that punch was brutal
Ryuen: I haven’t feared once in my life
Also Ryuen: Scared of Ayanokoji
Ryuen reminds me of the Kishin and he just found out that he's afraid of someone who feels nothing, making him vulnerable lol
2:24 "I think you've realized now, that you too, have the capacity for fear" what a very powerful line.
Best I can make sense of it, is that fear is the only emotion Ayanokoji has ever felt, perhaps during this mysterious "white room" event. He's basically saying if he can feel fear, he sure as hell will distill the fear of god into you Ryuen
Great analysis.
That’s the exact conclusion I arrived at, when he said “that you too”. The key word here is “too” which implies he also has the capacity to be fearful of something. People love to paint the MC as being emotionless which he does come across but the difference between him and other is that his threshold to demonstrate those emotion is extremely high. Not to say he’s incapable of doing it. He was just raised in an environment where it is best not too.
To me, it seems like Ayanokoji has never felt any emotion
@@lettuce1626 oh I felt it. His emotion are VERY subtle but it is there. A minor example is when he realized Ruyen was not methodical fighter, he was shocked. Also we know he feared the white room. The way he speak about it you can tell there is fear. It’s just he is very discreet about it.
2:12 last hit was like Ayanokoji just relieving Ryuuen of his fear (by way of knock-out)... how kind to not make him suffer too long, and just for ~7 seconds of screen time.

This is why I've always held the opinion that the scariest quality a person can have is a willingness to harm. No enjoyment, no disgust, no nothing. Just a willingness
Such a savage moment that finally shows Ayanokoji's inner demon.
i think the music represents what Ryuen was feeling, the excitement and struggle in fighting Ayanokoji, then the music starts going away until there is nothing, no music to represent the feeling of the moment, because Ayanokoji is feeling nothing and because there is no music that can represent his nothingness
Everyone praises the animation, but let's take some time to appreciate the music stopping, when Ayanokoji revealed he was bored. Since he felt nothing, there is no music that could display that emotion.
Never mess with someone who knows Piano and Caligraphy

What scared Ryuuen wasn't the pain or the beating, it was the fact that his opponent didn't feel anything. He was trying to get into Ayanokoji's head with all the talking but after realising that Ayanokoji found the fight boring he was terrified.
Not really, in LN he doesn't feel fear either Ayanokoji is forced to knock him out when he realises that Ryuuen can't be broken. That is why Ayanokoji decided that he can use him in future.

Ryuuen is honestly an amazing antagonist in the novel. Sadly the anime doesn’t do his character full justice. But he’s the goat, in season 3 he may be in the low for quite a while minding his own business. But eventually he makes the best comeback in COTE in the final year 1 exam. Episodes like this made me remember why I love Ayanokoji as a character so much
The way Ayanokoji showing yo Ryuuen that he would not tremble or falter, or even throwing harder punches on him. He would just keep his pacing the same, keep throwing his same punches, and act like: "What are you saying? Or should I say, what did I hear? Was it a mere fly passed my ear? No matter".
