Dear Josh, long time no see. Hope you are doing well at whatever may be going on in your life. We are all awaiting your finale reaction with excitement :D just two more episodes to go, please give it to us if you can take time for it, we´d really appreciate it. I´m guessing there is still a lot of stuff going on that you need to take care of and we all know and understand it ^^ Still would be nice to finish this series so we can finally sleep in peace xD Have a good time, stay safe and well, hope to see you soon. Greetings from Germany
17:40 (again, i know it's been 2 yrs) yangchen is actually the avatar who has many kills behind her (which answered one of your questions also) I guess thats why she told aang that he will have to kill the firelord, it means nothing to her 😂
The way that I interpreted the lion-turtle was that someone who is' pure of heart' can do something "bad" and not be afflicted by it. like even though avatar aang wouldnt kill firelord ozai,, he still _could_ and not completely give up his kind of inherent 'goodness'.
I don’t think Aang actually ever killed people the closest maybe would be the fire nation troops back in season one episode 20 but in my opinion that was more the ocean spirit then it was Aang
Real soon. Sorry had lost this account, but managed to recover it. I should be posting the final 2 episodes tomorrow if possible. Hope you check them out.
the avatars are vauge because they cant just say "yeah go kill him", becaue its not their decision to make. Aang has to decide for himself, so all they can say is things like be decisive, there must be justice...its just like any kind of advice, you can give the best guidance, but its up to them use it
Lemme clear out what the past Avatars told to Aang. You said they didn't gave him a clear answer but they did their duty and told him from their own experiences. Let me give some info of their stories so you can understand. You already know Kyoshi's and Roku's story so Roku told him to make a decision. He saw him in dilemma and told him the importance of making a decision. Kyoshi saw him that he's different with his decisions compared to herself and saw that he don't wanna kill Ozai. She didn't actually told him to do but she stated that he should embrace the justice. So, Yangchen was one hell of an Avatar. She was really good at bringing peace to the physical world. But she was so obsessed with physical world so basically she neglected the spirits. She thinks that due to the Avatar's duty, all Avatars should forget about detaching from the world but we saw that they actually need to detach and forget about worldly attachements in order to master the Avatar State from guru Pathik back in S2. So you think this is a contradiction. Well yes but actually no. In the end she said selfless duty calls you to sacrifice your own spiritual needs... Being selfless and forgeting the worldly desires are actually similar. Well not same but when you forget your attachments for your duty you become selfless and a good Avatar. And Yangchen is trying to tell that he needs to detach himself from the teachings but then says Avatar can never detach themselves. Yangchen was actually great at embracing her duty and Aang was keeping his teachings and Katara (regarding to the guru example) over his duty. That's why she said smt like this. And actually Avatar does not only master bending but also spiritual matters and Airbenders are so spiritually powerfull that 100% of the population is a bender. So Airbender teachings are great for an Avatar. (Note I don't know this part so maybe Yangchen was so attached to the teachings so she thought she wanted her decisions to not be based on them. And Kuruk was suffering from the consequences of the actions of the previous Avatar Yangchen. There was peace in the physicial world thanks for her but as I said she neglected the spirits. And Kuruk was all dealing with spirits his entire life. He was spending most of his time in spirit world battling with spirits but he didn't tell any of his friends or family members anything. He thought that this was his duty alone. The Avatar, bridge between worlds should be the one to deal with this. Then he lost his woman he loved to Ko. He thought this suffering was his destiny as the Avatar. But being Avatar was his destiny. He didn't actually choose what to do or how to deal with the spirits as he didn't discuss this with others. He thought he has only one solution. Then he dies at a very young age of 33 (side note: Kyoshi lived 230 years). So Kuruk told him that he need to shapes his own destiny, choose from the options and not being stubborn with the only choice he knows (everyone should live) but be true to yourself and you will know the right thing. So, Aang was in dilemma, Kuruk told him whatever you do, don't do nothing choose something and decide what to do. Aang didn't want to kill Ozai, Kyoshi told him to embrace justice (basically kill) if it means to killing someone. Aang thought he doesn't have options as everyone telling him the similar thing, Kuruk told be true to yourself and shape your own destiny, you are the one to decide. Aang thinking to solve this contradiction with an Airbender Avatar. Yangchen contradicts him even more even though she told him the right thing which was be selfless and do the right thing. You have this duty and you need to do whatever it takes to fulfil it. In the end, he thought he solved his issues but he is still in confusion. they said him to decide and choice is yours but also said that the justice can only be fulfilled with one way there is no other option. Then Lion Turtle appears and says basically the similar thing but the Lion Turtle says there are more options and does his thing. You'll need to finish the finalle to understand the Lion Turtle so I'm not gonna tell smt here. But you can see that Aang's facial expression changes after the conversation with the Lion Turtle so...
ironically it’s been a year since I finished the series you’ve come a long way Josh You’ve seen enemies become friends you fell in love with our heroes as they traveled the world You’ve seen Aang master all four elements and become the hero he’s destined to become You’ve gone from around 100 subscribers to nearly 1K but now you must brace yourself, for you are about to whiteness one of the greatest series finales of all time!!!
I still hope you could do The Legend of Korra it's a beautiful series or as they call it "A beautiful mess". I know it's really different from ATLA. But the flow here in ATLA is a person finding his way to become the avatar and in LOK it's a avatar finding her way to become a person.
and when the world needed him most... he vanished
We miss you brother!

I never liked the Lion turtle stuff, too Deus Ex Machina and just letting Aang have his cake and eat it too.
Everything else in the final is great.
