@@peterwarner553Sure but some lives are more miserable then others, tho I'm sure protected and noble ladies with good parents and husband's ( it is not impossible even in thar time) had better then other women and most regular men.
The late Terry Jones of Monty Python was a serious scholar of medieval lives and has a great series on this. You'll find it balanced and directed towards the misery of both men and women. PS 3 hours later: Let me be clear -- nothing can rival Medieval Madness, though!🏆
Yeah I just read about Richard the Lionheart when he was having his coronation banquet since it was a crusading affair no women or Jews were allowed to attend.

This video’s release and the fact that I FINALLY just caught up on The French History Podcast hosted by Gary Girod (I can’t believe I have to wait two weeks between releases now) is crazy. The Crusades are truly interesting to learn about. The Church, its goals, its endeavors, its impact on all of society is unlike anything else, IMO. History is amazing. Thanks for shedding some more light on it, Medieval Madness. As you old redcoats say, “Cheers!” Love from the mitten state.
That dude in the thumbnail is looking at the woman in his arms, thinking “Damn! She’s got a face like Curly from The Three Stooges, but she fit as hell!”
Eleanor of Aquitaine didn’t “[lead] a crusade” she accompanied her husband, King Louis VII, on two different campaigns during the Second Crusade…which is still pretty badass. Love Eleanor of Aquitaine- she’s a fascinating person. (Also the time stamp you referenced, OP is actually discussing a totally different person- Margaret of Provence…)
@@h0rriphic Okay, Captain Literal, but according to this narrator, after her husband died she took over his leading of that particular crusade. As to the time stamp, I tried several times to get that during her story but apparently there was a glitch that kept putting it on the lady after her.
The constant whining about misogyny is off putting. Like bro, i can draw my own conclusions that women of this time period didn't enjoy our modern sensibility of a woman's place in society, just tell me about the historical accounts. lol
“Womanly things like knitting and being oppressed” 😅
That line really made me laugh! I'm glad someone else appreciated it too 😄
Me three! This channel is very informative while also tongue-in-cheek!🤣

They could make a great movie on Eleanor of Aquitaine
They did. It's called 'The Lion In Winter"

Please do a video on the daily life of upper class women in medieval times!
Life as 'a women'?!
Come on, you can do better than that!
Can't imagine being a nit picker😂
Sorry.. But I have to.. "A women"?
Deal Breaker!! Lice picker???🤮🤮🤮

so not too different then from what woman go through the modern day in rural India. staying oppressed
Yes and men still dying in the wars. But they are men so who cares. We can't be oppresed 😂😂

I knew when I read the title that this video would be infused with soy.
"Eleanor, are you and your Amazons done cosplaying as crusaders yet?" Louis asked in a suspiciously bad French accent. 😂 #drawnofhistory
Lice picker?? What a great job 🤢
3:54 can anyone tell me the name of that woman? I didnt understood the accent im not native speaker XD
Why is the map at 1:20 in Finnish?
Holy wars hmmm. Wars are still being fought on religious grounds. When will ppl accept the many religions and live and let live.
As long as money is involved.
Religious played only a part in it. Soms people also wanted lands and glory or just have some adventure
Or better yet - abolish religion entirely. For the Emperor of Mankind!
I can't imagine a worse reason to fight and die than in the name of some superstitious belief system.
More people have died in religious wars than all other wars combined. It's all so unnecessary. 😢

Nice vid
?
"Women eh? Can't Crusade with 'em, can't Crusade without 'em!" Great spoof of that very trite sexist trope 😂
Men had it really easy, didn't they? Being sent to war to get hacked to pieces
Who cares. Women had it worse because they are women and they are always victims.
And the gay man: "Women... Can't live with them... End of sentence."
Near as I can tell, nobody survives life. Your title is not well considered.
First!!!
Title error..."woman" not "women"
Pedantry is not a virtue.
What do you mean? Oh yeah “surviving life as a women” yeah that makes sense
Gotta say…
That’s a pretty good intro…
