Another variation is to steam the vegs and ground dal first. Then keep thadka with lot of oil and the steamed veg and dal mixture broken coarsely. I find that easier to do.

this recipe is prepared in many ways. SOmetimes I steam cook the dal in the pressure cooker and add that to the palya. That also works fine,

What is the ideal ratio of vegs to dal. Sometimes we have to work with the vegs available, so it is good to know that.
if it is greens we can put almost 5 to 6 times more the dal. If it is vegetable like beans 3 to 4 times works good
