saj h Thanks for your comment bro appreciate it. Yea rally works well can't really go wrong with the price I normally use it for base it covers really good has a nice wide fan flows really well clear coat wise it's good as well I mostly use the t110 devilbiss but if I want to go a bit heavy the flg5 works good.
Great video mate and awesome work. Looking to get this Gun but not sure If my compressor is upto the job, it's a Aldi 24l special with the following specs 2.5 HP motor Air displacement: 262 l/min, 9.3 CFM Compressor speed: 2850 1/min 8 Bar max. working pressure Operating pressure approx. 8 bar Theoretical intake capacity: 262 l/min Only looking to do small work ie Alloy wheels and small areas like bumpers, would it be ok??
@@undergroundcustoms3107 Welcome mate. Yeah it's not very big its 25L and the air displacement is slightly lower than the Gun needs too @ 9.3cfm - Guns states it needs 9.8cfm
ZippyPenguinTribute Ok my personal opinion I would get a mini spray gun so you can get in to worse places on the wheels but branded ones are a bit of money and the cheap ones don't last they spit out to much so second best some thing a bit bigger with full size cup and branded as well good enough for the compressor your using would be the the devilbiss starting line SLG-610 which has a1.3 fluid nozzle and the air cap consumes 136 L/min which is (4.8 CFM) so even a portable 1hp / 5 CFM air compressor is sufficient for the job. I will leave a link in the message get it direct if your from uk they have it on offers I just had a look on the spray gun direct site I will be putting more videoed up on priming with a cheap gun as well tonight and how to mix so do subscribe if you haven't already for latest videos here is the link below thé got o lot on there but for the price I think this won't be bad. www.spraygunsdirect.co.uk/index.php/devilbiss-slg-610-compliant-solvent-spraygun-1-3mm-low-air-consumption.html#sthash.ca1MVz1G.dpbs
Hay man thanks for you comment. It depends if it's to do with how good it works or how good the gun is manufactured or price wise Price wise it will beat the sata and iwata. Manufacturing wise from my opinion the the flg5 is very well manufactured if I was to compare it with the next one up the devilbiss gti which comes in a 1.4 nozzle as well the flg5 is not stainless steel from in side and the gti is that's the only difference and the gti is with a bit more better finish and very smooth flow even though the air cap is brass and the fluid nozzle including the needle is stainless steel on the flg5 but the spray gun from inside is not. But the gti is stainless steel from in side and the fluid nozzle and the needle the air cap is brass all so. So becouse the flg5 is cast aluminium from in side it will need to be cleaned properly other wise you will have paint residue left in there from time to time. The sata is a good gun to use as well depending on which addition your using if it's the sata 400 onwards addition that's stainless steel as cell but more in price and does the same job as a devilbiss gti I haven't used iwata so can't say much about it it all depends how often you are painting II it diy or daily use?
@@undergroundcustoms3107 is for daily use. I'm getting started on this, in the matter of my own workshop, it's a small workshop but quality work is done. It is seen different videos of flg5 I think it's good. but I ask talking about all the guns, would you recommend any specific for clear? By the way, good video would be good if you could make more material.
Rafael Berrios Rafael Berrios If it's for daily use the gti pro and the pro lite are better guns For daily use even the devilbiss gti does an excellent job which is not a pro version but there's not much difference in them apart from the gti pro lite is a bit lighter then the gti pro you can use any one of these guns for both jobs you can get 1.3 and 1.4 with any one of them in both you can pick up some good second hand ones at a good price of eBay in good working order if you are getting both then you can paint with the 1.4 gti pro and clear coat with the 1.3 gti pro light but if you want my opinion and want some thing more reasonable and easy to use you can get the gti which is before the pro version you can do both jobs with the same gun am using 1 from last 15 years and it does the job really good very smooth flow like the gti pro and the pro light but you can pick them up at good price the one am using it's a 1.4 nozzle and T110 LVLP air cap i don't use it for any under coat just paint and clear coat and if you want the flg5 it's a fine gun as well for daily use i normally use about 20 percent thinners to get a nice misty flow in the flg5 thé fan is really wide on the flg5 so you will need a good extraction for the fumes most of my videos I do for guys in small workshops or diy guys I will put the next video up doing painting and clear coat with the non pro version gti see what you think all please do subscribe so you can get the latest videos on painting with different spray guns I will do another one with the flg5 but do remember bruv it's not always the spray guns it's the painter as well are you more on a professional level on painting ? or just starting of on painting it just gives me an idea of the best things to recommend am 50 years old bruv and most of my life has been in to painting and doing jig work but we still self learn to get better at thing. And are painting in a spray booth ? All so do you have a good fillers to separate water or are just painting in open area?
@@undergroundcustoms3107 Well, I've been on this for some 5 years now. Right now I use iwata w400 for clear. And I understand what you say is often the painter's hand. At the moment in search of a gun that is not very expensive but does a good job especially with metallic solvent paint and clear why I ask about flg5. I paint in a homemade paint boorh but it works very well and has good ventilation.
Rafael Berrios It's best to go for the devilbiss gti 110 you can pick them up for around 80 on wards in good working order they are stainless steel from in side and won't create to much dust in the spray booth because the fan is not to wide but the paint goes on well and fine flow is really nice and you will save more paint. And you don't need a very big compressor depending on the thickness of the paint you can use it between 18 to 25 psi. The flg5 is very good as well but might take a bit more paint but has a very wide fan and runs on around 28 29 psi so you might attract more dust in the paint work. But if you get your hands on a gti pro or gti pro light they are the best in the market at the moment. But all depends on what's better and sautable for your workshop. I will do a video on the devilbiss gti 110 see what you think of the job am painting a Range Rover and a few other cars so will do a demo on both flg5 and the gti 110.i have a self made spray booth as well and the gti110 works really well for me. Are you from uk all so how many litter are tank is you compressor ?
Hay bruv I used around 28 29 psi on this paint job all so depends on how much thinners you are using in the clear coat as well wether it's 10% 20% or 30% but average if you are using the same gun as I am any thing between 25psi to 30psi max. I normally use about 20% then set the pressure to where it's not coming out to misty or thick am using the devilbiss gti for base and the flg5 for clear on this job depends on what kind of finish your after is it more of fine or a bit of orange peel ? All so the air pressure on your gun leave it full to open then set your regulator which you have put on your gun with the gun trigger pressed Only to air with out paint coming out you can all so set your fluid setting to what kind of finish you want and all so can reduce your pressure accordingly. All ways test your gun pattern first before painting and the distance. What gun are you using and is it a diy job how many panels you painting?
Hello new to your chanal l look forward seeing all your videos can you tell me what was your fluid turns if you turn your flued all the way in and then how money turns out I have the flg 5 thank you for this video I was in the middle spraying base coat and was waiting for flash of time and then was searching for a channel about flg5 so I found your channel by accident but glad I did your accent sounds like a brome I could be wrong i am from Gloucester thank for the video
Husky 123 Hay man your welcome thanks for the comments and sorry for the late reply was just catching up in the workshop had plenty on but gun setting wise I normally press the spry trigger full and tighten it to where the fluid screw stops so it's more or less fully open it get your air pressure right doing the same thing with the trigger pressed so you don't lose air in the pipe I normally use about 28 29 psi all so adjust your fan to where you get the paint even try it on a piece of paper keep it about 6 to 8 inches away and the spray to get a even patient of paint some time when the fan is fully open you might get mor on the top and bottom but less in the middle I think about half a turn in will help but if it's coming out even on a full fan that's fine as well I got loads more videos to add but just waiting for a external hard drive to put all the videos in se I can render them do you have a garage or just getting in to it as a diy hobby reason why am asking is so will put you in the right direction any info you need just message me am here mostly to share a bit of knowledge with a lot of diy guys a lot of people on here I noticed they show the videos in very limited details for some reason. But am over 50 years old and been in the trade for a very long number of years so why not share to help out guys who really want to get good with what they doing. Will hope fully add more videos up in the next couple of weeks if you want me to show any extra info will do that.
Vasilis Karadimos The difference between the both guns is the flg5 has a more wider fan and it runs on a bit of higher pressure 25 to 30 psi depending on the finish I normally paint around 28 to 29 psi I to get a misty finish as for the t110 you can paint it with 20 psi of pressure the fan is a bit less wider then the flg5 all so the inside of the gun is stainless steel so it won't build up any paint residue so very less cleaning and its ideal for a smaller compressor but over all both guns are fantastic
If you want a nice misty flow you can set the pressure between 29 to 30 psi max if you want it a bit of orange peel you can set it between 25 to 28 I normally paint on about 29 and it's brilliant I will be putting up another video on it on weekend where am painting Range Rover and am using the same gun to paint and clear coat.
