The game has a lot of potential, but it definetly needs more content and a LOT of quality of life improvements, specially with the workbench crafting and weird hitboxes while climbing cliffs and stuff. Hope the devs pay attention to this kind of criticism because this game can be trully great!
@@deliriouscheeto this or when you auto run/walk and are directing your character in a straight path to climb over a mountain/hill... and your character starts slowly climbing sideways... using up your stamina. 🥴
@@luffyswaifu420 btw if you dont run... and just guide your arrow just a bit ahead of the animal... you can avoid shooting a wall or tree... also dont forget to stop pulling... same with fishing you dont need to let the arrow or worm go... you just leave out of it to save the arrow. A person on a server yesturday didnt know you could retract your arrow ans keep the arrow. Maybe you know this already, but it's possible some people dont... do i'll leave that for them then. either way, happy hunting
I don’t think this game is for me if it’s not really like the sims.I’m looking forward to paralives and Life by you because it’s a game about family and careers but I might give it a try. As a much younger person,I really loved Carmen Sandiego as well
i am enjoying the game... i personally havent experienced any negativity and have found really fun people i came to know a little and play with... as for discord, i havent seen any negativity in the discord other than at first people didnt like one person using AI to make art... but if you supported the person... no one was toxic to you. So, I'm really a bit confused. I think the most annoying part of the game? -is people not actually understanding that you can harvest things together... there are two gatherables, that you can gather with others ( as a matter of fact some items you must be in a group with, no party needed though, just near other players) a wave of newbs have come and get to it and hack and chop and dont wait for others to come. That annoys people who waited for others cuz you just called people from across a map or even server... and two newbies hacked it all up wasting the other players time... that gets people ticked off because the newbs were impatient. When they lose nothing to wait for others to come... this game rewards players for working together. It's such a foreign idea to these new people in this last wave, the idea of sharing? what is that!! 🫡 lol which is toxic to me, that they cant switch gears mentally. it's rediculous. then, no one calls to them the next time, because they do not share. players party up and ignore the server chat and just let their specific party know or invite only ppl they see in the server who are NOT being greedy. I have come from other mmos which i have played many of... and you dont need to stomp others down in this game... 😅 in the other mmos - selling and trading makes the game almost unplayable... because they are gathering all resources and selling them for 14k... the new players get shut out and very quickly the game dies. So, i really hope their isnt a selling system. Or it's flat rate and no one can decide the price... if i wanted to play wallstreet.exe i'd turn off the game and invest in junk... this game isnt fortnite and it isnt like other mmos for sure... because it's no supposed to be... however, the game play is so fun. the people i play with are fun ans helpful. its so chill and relaxing... idk i do not see what the hate is? the clothing... if you dont want to buy the clothes dont. you dont need them to play... needs and wants are two very different things. I have bought a few curated outfits to mix and match to make a very specific and unique look but i am not paying to play either... there are no boosts from these items. purely cosmetic a unique aaspect of the game: you can even invite around friends and if they are hungry and have no food... as long as they participate doing one step of the cooking they all get all the food together. People were tripping like wait.. you are taking my ingredients? nope i am using mine... but if you were to have one ingredient that i do not have. Your ingredient must be on hand in your personal bag - not at home.... only then will it be used and you have to be the one that does the part associated with that one part... i specifically told them to clear their bag.. and it worked wonders. free food, free cooking lvls = win win The decorating system rewards you by having you build your own items... You can buy things in the village of Kilima but its a bit of a waste... just collect the items and build away. The building system isnt complex. You need a recipe to crafter equiptment and then to unlock the ability to craft more items with that equipment. So like a basic sawmill can be upgraded to do its job faster... but if you want to cut a specific plant type... you may need to find the npc, reach the skill unlock for the the item, and then buy the recipe to make that item. only tools lose durability... but they are not a pain to gether resources for... as you upgrade your equipment - you gather better and faster and unlock the ability to gather certain rare items. I hate mmos that your whole home falls down, because you dont play the game 24/7 - then the game is work and not a game at all... I love that this game rewards you for NOT trolling others for sharing and not being a total greedy baffoon lol. y'kno? For instance, the more trees are chopped down in a map the more likely a special tree will grow that all can obtain equally... unless very tiny... you cannot collect it on your own - you need the help of others. it is so chill and if you actually read the conversations that are not LONG AND BORING you can really get into the lore of the game... something i rarely do with most games because blah blah blah blah i dont care Market Person #2 just hand me my reward! this game progresses you in skills as well as - you needddd to make "friends" with the locals. I dont mind paying some money for outfits ( not sets / colorways essentually ) but i would not pay a monthly sub for this... but i barely do that for anything. just not my thing... turns me a away super fast... was why i never got into World of Warcraft... firstly, I dont like the fighting ans armor mess of games... i almost always forage, plant, cook my way thru games... so for me this feels a bit Sims with people if you want them .... i have been on servers where no one talks, no one interacts... i leave the game and reroll and thr very next server is active ... i dont have to do thos often... but once or twice ya.
I do think they're gonna expand on it really. I love it, but I wish they had ridable mounts, I wish we could make our own clothes, I wish we could sell the furniture we made because it clutters up the storage. Oh and I wish they improved the Romance system. Like when you get a romance pin the NPC would hang out at your lot instance or whatever. This is open beta still, I'm sure they have a lot more installed for us.
@@xmeiyume it technically doesn't yeah but I sooo don't need so much of it with no filter of what I actually want and crap I made while skill building)))
I do expect that they will be including making clothes. I'm fairly certain that will be where Jel's character will be fleshed out as the NPC for a clothing skill.
@@ZombehPanda idk, it's already in open beta, usually games don't change that much at this stage. But tbf Phasmophobia is in open beta too and it changed a ton

What I really appreciate from your reviews is that not only do you praise and critique as necessary, but also give actual SUGGESTIONS and SOLUTIONS to your critiques. There are so many self proclaimed critics who think they're being helpful when they're just using their opinion as an excuse to be an a-hole.
I can't believe that they are marketing it as an MMO and the game has only 2 maps and yes, "Toxic positivity" like you said describes the reaction from the community regarding this game perfectly.
I played this game for the first two weeks obsessively, only stopping to sleep and well work, but I feel its lacking in a few places. I am currently keeping an eye on updates and what not. The game has loads of potential, I can see that and hope the devs bring as much out of it as they can. One thing I am iffy about, and it goes with what you said about the toxic positivity, the censorship filters of words and user names. It takes away the freedom to express yourself. I get that you wouldn't want profanity, but some basic words are being deemed 'not cosy' and banned and it just makes 0 sense. not every one has the same sense of cosy. Anyway, as always your review is informative and I look forward to the next one.
@@deliriouscheeto you can see a bunch in the discord feedback channels of words that hold dirty words inside them, like pass... for example. my friend had her username reported on and removed because she had the word coke, as in cola.. if you choose something simple you'll be fine. Just the profanity filter upon character creation seems a bity janky to me and need to be looked at. imo. Apart from that that game is good and as I mentioned, loads of potential.
It's just a shame. I was so excited for this game, but it really let me down, and the devs/community managers have been behaving shady. Banning people on discord for giving valid criticism, the devs not really addressing any of the criticism. It's open Beta, communication is key right now, and it's not happening. Very concerning.
Criticizing an overpriced cash shop isn't being an 'absolute asshole'. These people had 30+ million USD to make this game, they're not an indie development studio, so stop acting like they can't handle some criticism. @@RonW357
I didn't know much about the game until I stumbled upon Palia 2 days ago and I haven't been able to stop playing since. If you're looking for in-depth, complex, thoughtful gameplay mechanics the game wouldn't be for you. If you're looking for a brain off grind than this is perfect! That's the exact kind of gameplay I was looking for out of this game, I don't want difficult and complex systems, I want long but easy grinds with cool rewards at the end. That is my main issue with the game, lack of rewards to show off your accomplishments. I know there are some rewards for certain accomplishments but I think all of them should have a reward that varies from housing items or cosmetics. Another feature I would like to see added is group events, I played GW2 and FFXIV and seeing people all get together to take down one boss is so much fun! I know there aren't bosses in this game but maybe fishing, hunting or gathering events that bring everyone to an area for a short amount of time, it would really emphasize the MMO aspect with people working together. For example a fishing tournament at Fisherman's Lagoon that happens at 5:00 PM Palia time every few Palia days. It could last 30 min IRL time and whoever catches the most fish at the Lagoon during that time gets a cool reward! I really like the framework for this game, I would love to see some more community based event and neat rewards!
Runescape was developed by a tiny team of people on a small budget way back in the day and it was so much more planned out than palia lol. More skills and more maps even at the start so I wonder why palia only has a handful of generic skills and lock you to a small area lol.
I definitely agree with you that it could have more depth, specially the *crafting skill,* which is the only one that doesn’t provide income. Love the idea of an in game marketplace.
i'm forcing myself to play this game just in case the multiplayer gets better. i wish it was slightly more immersive when it comes to cooking and crafting., i want it to be a bit 'simmy' i wanted to make food for my friend and sit and eat with her :(
I’m very tired of the, “it’s an open beta cut it some slack” attitude of a lot of communities. Open beta/early access has become way too common imo and companies need to either stop doing it altogether OR use it to their advantage and actually take their players’ criticisms and opinions into consideration
@@deliriouscheetowith the amount they gave and the color options, you will have hundreds of thousand combinations. You just want premium items for free. If you don’t know how a game is developed and is entitled for free cosmetics I’d say make a game yourself. The game itself is already free. Don’t like it don’t play it
I see where the toxic supporters come in. It's when you make a suggestion regarding clothing. hundreds of thousands of combinations is laughable. literally only 2 slots for clothes, top and bottom. like 6 color choices with a variety of maybe 4 sets not including "premium". the game would be more successful if they made it so you can customize your character more without having to pay $15 for 3 colors for a 'premium' set. if you actually played the game regularly you can see everybody looks exactly the same because this is an issue.
I don't understand why so many people are always so protective over a game and don't allow any criticism. That happens in every genre. When some promising challenger comes along, some fanboys and girls go straight into attack mode as if their lives depended on it. WHY?
100% agreed. I don't really have an answer to that other than: these people often seem to be quite young still and maybe haven't had much gaming experience outside of their "sheltered communities" which they very much feel their identity connected to, so to speak. Though I don't think that explains the entire phenomenon. Still, a beta's sole purpose is to test and have players communicate their gripes/frustrations about the game lol.
@@D0MiN0ChAn That's another point. When a game is in beta or early access, developers literally do it to ask for feedback in order to improve the game. If everyone just gives positive feedback and complements, it doesn't help anyone.
This is the type of game that I already know I will burnout on super fast unless changes are made. It needs more direction IMO and has amazing potential. I personally LOVE the "grind" of things. Grinding out collecting fish, or making materials, or gathering things, etc. Aka, Im a hoarder and a completionist. And from what I've seen of Palia so far, I love it. BUT I know myself and patterns. Without clear direction, after a certain point, idk if my house is nice, now what? I've maxed out all my skills, now what? Give me reason to go do things or go to places, give me tons of mini quests or goals outside of revolving around gathering and building (I love that, dont get me wrong.) Im excited to see where it continues to go. In the meantime, I will be on WoW classic gathering every companion and mount and completing every achievement (Cries is completionist)
This sounds so similar to Disney Dreamlight Valley to me in terms of the freemium shop (and you still have to pay a hefty penny for DDLV) and the toxic community. The mod team at the Dreamlight Valley Discord server were absolutely terrible and I left because of the horrible standards they were creating for the community. To each their own, and I respect everyone's opinions, but I think I'll pass on Palia and wait for Loftia, which is basically what I said in my comment on your review lol
I have also been playing Palia quite obsessively since midway through Closed Beta. I am reall enjoying it, but it's nto fulfilling its potential at all. I agree with so much of what was said in this video! Granted, Palia marketed itself as having "MMO elements" and not as a proper MMO, and technically it does.... but there aren't enough and they are implemented poorly. Some things they could add which totally fit the vision of the game: (1) Community Housing instances that everyone can build and contribute to and edit once finished. These include Community Chests which anyone can deposit resources into, and anyone can remove from, meaning that players in a Community can bypass the current restricted Gifting system and share resources more easily. This makes being part of a Community actively beneficial and it could also be a way to share Furniture, meals and other things, allowing different Community members to specialise in different skills. (2) Being able to gift items to other players in person by finding them on the map, rather than doing it at a distance. It's really cool that we can play together in the same map, so let's encourage that! (3) Having group focused events / "dungeons" / non-combat "raids" like you said, plus they need group events as part of the upcoming Festivals, not just solo quests. (4) Give us some less fancy clothing and pets for free. The Sand Palicat, for example, could have been an earnable, in-game Gold purchase, with the oher 3 Cats in the store as a purchasable pet. Continue to put fancier clothes in the Premium Store, but make sure each items comes in more than 3 swatches (why doesn't each individual item have all 9??? I don't get it). (5) Improved customisation options full stop. I am playing Lord of the Rings Online which is 14 years old. It recently had a character customisation overhaul but even before that, their options were better than what Palia has managed in 2023 as they had colour wheels (ish) for hair colour, eye colour and skin colour. So yeah.. that is just a few things that I'd want personally. It's a fun game, but it could be so much better with a bit more work and I'd love to see it become the game that I think it was originally marketed as!
I think it's worth noting in terms of how much it cost to make the game that MMOs are notoriously expensive and difficult to make. Sure, a 30-50 million dollar game is a pretty decent budget for a lot of genres. But when it comes to MMOs, it's actually pretty average for just the development costs, and that's not including marketing, servers, and all the other additional costs beyond just developing the game itself. Their budget wasn't actually that big for what it is. You compared it to Final Fantasy 14, but Square Enix spent 400 million on the 1.0 version of that game. That's 8x as much as Palia. And it's been around for years. So it SHOULD have quite a bit more content than Palia That being said, I do definitely agree that it's a bit shallow. I still enjoy it, but there's definitely missing potential. I just don't agree with your reasoning about the budget
I was thinking the same thing. For what this game is, that's actually not a huge budget. Also people forget budget includes everything involved in making the game, from salaries of the game makers to whatever resources they pay for to run and create the game. Like their servers.
Same here, I learned about it from Sach and besides the premium store being expensive af, it's a good game! (Which tbf I'm never interested in cosmetics anyway so idc)
You're absolutely right about toxic positivity! Even in Final Fantasy 14, everyone is like 'the community is so nice!' and it's the most toxic hellhole I've EVER been in, and all because you can't say anything that even sounds like it might not be positive or the 'community' jumps up your asshole. -.- But yeah, you're right, I only needed a couple hours in Palia to realize how lackluster and shallow it is at present. And LOL I saw that if you want a 'bundle' that costs real money, a full outfit costs $50...that's the price of a whole new AAA game! That's entirely too much! $25 at most would be acceptable. (HAAAA, freemium mobile game app... yeah, that's the perfect description.)
the art style & character design reminds me so much of disney dreamlight valley, like similar enough that when he was showing the character creation screen i literally thought he had made a mistake & used the wrong footage for a second 😂😂 are they made by the same developer??
If Disney made this game, there would be ads and invasive and very overpriced micro transactions. But their current focus is on Disney dreamlight valley so I doubt they’d start a whole new project without milking all of the money out of ppl for dreamlight valley first lol
I want to know your opinions about Loftia! It’s an upcoming MMO with a solarpunk, futuristic take on farming and cozy gaming. It is still in very early stages, but I’m very excited about it
With regards to the aspect of the game being shallow, my opinion is that over time, if the game is to be sustainable it has to keep introduce new stuffs and naturally the game will be more 'complex' over time. You can see this in many other games that has stood the test of time and they are today way way more complex in game play mechanics than they were when they started out. This evolution is inevitable if the game want to survive in the long term. That is why I am not worry about it being shallow atm, and in fact I feel excited and looking forward to what they will introduce in the coming days, coming months and coming years. This is what will sustain my interest in the game, that anticipation and hopefully pleasant surprise that they will dish out.
There are flow trees that you need help from others to chop. People also look for other players to mine palium nodes (they don't need to be mined with others but everyone gets a piece if you mine it together). I've been in a hunt for a rare magical sernuk with other players as well and I'm pretty sure there's magical chappas. You get a little boost if you fish with others and you NEED help when cooking some recipes. There are multiplayer parts to this game that ig get overlooked if you're not a part of any discord (I joined the official one and from there I joined a community of some more chill players where I learned a lot about the multiplayer parts).
That's what I'm noticing too. Not many people are asking to party up in game. You have to be a part of a premade discord community to truly get every part of this game.
I accidentally stumbled upon the rare Sernuk while climbing, and startled it and had to attack it on my own before I had the chance to let anyone know where it was 😭 It was like 2 weeks ago and I’m still a little upset about it (Also yes there is a magical blue chappa that splits into 3 when you shoot it but I haven’t seen it yet)
@@jellykelly1462 yea, but I think it's bc you get thrown to a different server each time, so it's different to actually talk to anyone for longer. As soon as they go to their house or change maps, you'll be on a different server. Not easy to find someone for longer just by playing
Palia needs: -SITTING option on chairs etc. -Regenerating health on Palium nodes so there is incentive to gather it at least in duo -BETTER optimization, my PC can run Witcher 3 on ultra, but in Palia I get massive STUTTERING and screen tearing if I set auto settings in graphics ; ; Yep, my auto settings are epic lmao -FREE pet obtainable through quest that will auto loot things I gathered (not fancy looking ofc, fancy ones should be in premium shop) -Animals like COWS and CHICKEN on my plot, that will produce milk and eggs when fed with crops. Without them my plot feels not cottage core enough for me, even FarmVille had this... -Showing real life currency on premium shop and getting rid of these "33% promotions" and WAY MORE affordable prices, I love one of outfit and I would like to buy it ; ;
I am with you on a lot of this. The game is beautiful but there is nothing really to do. I can have a house party but no one can sit on my couch! I grant permissions to my farm and my friend can only really water crops.....it has a long way to go and at this time offers no real joy for logging in and playing the game. If I could "use" my house that would be something to work for...right now the game has no accomplishment reward. :( I purchased FaeFarm in hopes it is a better game.
Spot on Satch. Palia has an amazing skeleton but doesn't even do what it advertises itself as best. FF14 has a more robust crafting system. Elder Scrolls Online has an objectively better and more intricate housing system. Stardew Valley has a far, far more expansive farming system. Palia looks pretty, but the substance simply isn't there, and it's eerie how the monetization is the most focused "feature" this early in development.
How is monetization a big feature? You get the prompt to open the shop once in a quest at the start (as with every other function) and all there is are cosmetics. They don't prompt you again, the shop doesn't randomly open unless you choose to do it. Ig the clothes show up when you change your characters clothes, but personally I've done it like twice so it wasn't a big bother. Other than that, I haven't seen any monetization being thrown into your eyes.
I haven't gotten into this one yet. I don't play MMO's until there out of beta, not because I don't want to beta them but because in the past I've run into issues and the help isn't there. So I guess my question would be is the community okay outside of the crazy positivity? It looks very similar at My time at Portia. Also as some one who plays games in early access or beta, heck yes criticize it! What do people think beta testing and early access is? The developers want you to test and suggest!
So far everyone I've played with on the server have been nice an funny. I did a group hunt with 4 other players (not in a party) to hunt down a rarer deer. I shouted out the location, people said they were on their way and we started the hunt. He mentions a market place, which I do think is a great idea for people to make money, but there is a free gifting system, and I usually have my request filled within 5-20 minutes. You get 4 request every IRL day, and you can fulfil other players requests unlimited. Generally everyone seems very helpful anytime I've asked questions or needed help on where to get something. Is it easy to make friends? I'm not sure yet. I haven't made an effort to send anyone a friend request, even after the group hunt. And I will say I haven't received a single friend request either. I'm not sure how people make friends in the game or if people just already have their premade group from discord and stick to that. I don't find many people asking to party up with strangers. Kind - Yes Friendly - Yes But can you make friends? Potentially with effort.
@@jellykelly1462Thank you! I'll see about giving it a try despite being beta. I've just had too many issues in the past and I'm not into that type of thing, lol. I like beta testing and early accessing games because I like giving out ideas and seeing games develop. Since this one is right up my alley I was interested but leary of the MMo.
I 100% think they should add gathering dungeons where we just hunt and gather rare stuff because its so hard getting palium and flow wood and its so frustrating i just end up stuck because i cant find or get the materials i need.. so i think gathering dungeons would help so much with that and just give us more to do if we have nothing to do.
I just joined the Discord to learn about the game and you are spot on about the toxicity of the "positive" players. They are very passive-aggressive towards any opinion that is not a glowing review of the game. I personally think they are giving these devs too much credit since a lot of this game is inspired by other games, and those games have much better crafting and MMO mechanics. I was going to invite friends to play with me, but for now it's more of a short, casual singleplayer experience until they add more to it
What we got is what it's gonna be, they will fix bugs, they will add on top of what we have right now, but saying the game is in open beta and it will change when it's released, really? it's we're 4 months away from December. Which is supposed to be the date of the full release of the switch version, WHICH, should be an indicator for the full release of the game, as I don't think Switch accepts betas. I have my house, I have 300k gold, I have all my plot unlocked, I have my farm, I have all my machines, and I finished the story as of today. To me it's pretty much game over, I have logged in to take care of my farm, and that's it, there's nothing else in the game to keep most of the players, it worries me because it's been what 2-3 weeks since open beta launched and people are already finishing the game. If there's nothing to keep people playing, I worry that the game will not have enough people playing to keep the game alive (spending). I'm excited for the maji market event they're about to release, but, there's just not enough depth in the game. I'd like to say the RP side of the game would make me keep playing, but the game, funny enough, is not prepared nor has the systems for any kind of RP.
I'm enjoying Palia at the moment. I feel like there's a lot of little fetch quests and quite a lot to gather. The one thing that annoys me currently though is storage system and inventory. I'm constantly running out of space and having to keep running back to my home plot just to drop things off in my storage bin. I wish that it was easier to gain more inventory slots. I also think some of the quests are a bit difficult. Took me ages just to find a lost sandwich on one of the quests. Sometimes it can be difficult finding certain things too in the game.
Yeah the inventory is annoying af. I ran out of chest storage and I had to ask someone how to expand it (they don't show you in the game how to do it). It's expensive af! 50k gold is so much money. Ig they tell you to sell stuff you're not using bc it's easy to get more, but I'm a hoarder in video games >:(
Yes earlier on I wanted to get the last few slots and it said deluxe backpack upgrade costs 50,000 and it takes me a while even to get 1000 gold because inventory does fill up really fast. It is even worse that I want to get a bigger house too and that also. I've learned that I can sell some stuff at the general store to save me having to keep waiting on the shipping bin too. Though the amount of trips I have to do back to home plot just to sort out inventory gets a bit annoying.@@deliriouscheeto
The game needs some improvements but I'm not sure what would be the best. More player in one world would make it feel more like a mmo but on the other hand it would be so much harder to gather the ressources. A market place would also be nice. I have so many furnitures I would like to sell. But I don't need a trade house. What's really annoying is the state of the server. Right now I logged out because I couldn't enter my house. More crafting opions would be nice like clothing. A basic pet for everyone would have been nice. And gameplay is also very shallow. For what do I buld my house where nobody can use the furniture? Everything is only for decoration and that's not enough. The shop is overpriced and I don't like it. But to be honest most games have overpriced shop. I like the fact that the shop is only for clothing and not for gameplay items. The game is not pay to win. You are right, it doesn't feel like a 50 million game. It feels more like a low budget game.
Yeah the discord is a mess, I'm scared to say anything about this game that might be a tad negative but would help improve the game in the end even if they don't take my one problem in mind if many people have that same problem and it's allow to be brought out into the light something might get done about it. I bet my future transplant operation that a lot of the problem in beta will carry into official release because that's just what's going to happen if they don't listen or even allow testers to speak
I've offered tons of feedback in the feedback threads of discord and have never had anyone be toxic to me. I won't say its not as I've seen it in the general chat, which I avoid unless I have a question that theirs not specific topic for. I couldn't agree more about the cash shop...i'd love to buy some of the cosmetic items...but I just can't afford $30-40 for one outfit...when I can just mix and match from the original outfits available.
Lots of great points, if I could make one criticism of the video it's that you went on a bit about the toxicity of the Discord just on hearsay. I do really appreciate that you were upfront and honest about not having actually joined it, but if going to make it a full on bullet point in the list of issues I think it would be worth double checking one's self whether it's true or not. It totally might be! I'm not claiming it's not true, just that verifying yourself before making it a core part of the proof of community toxicity would be good. But besides that, I think you make a fair number of good points and I hope things get better in the future for sure.
Hell naw with your subscription idea. Subscriptions are the bane of this world. You end up paying way flippin more than you would just pay one time for the game (or whatever product) but they want you hooked so you spend more money. Idk how people think subscriptions are good for anyone besides those who get paid.
I agree with this take, and I wouldn't pay monthly for a game personally. I would accept if a game was F2P and then had an optional Premium Subscription which gave additional benefits (like, extra items or a certain amount of Premium Currency per month) - then you have people who aren't punished for being unable to afford subscription prices, but there is cashflow from those that can and do.
I was very hyped wth this game, but from what you tell us, and others too, I'm feeling less and less engaged. They better take care of the toxic enviroment issue, because that is the main reason I left WOW. I could not stand it annymore. I play to relax and have fun. I think that is the main reason for every normal person at least. If the game enviroment is toxic, I'm running away as fast as i can.
This game honestly has a lot of potential. I think if they closely resemble the way the "slice-of-life skills" of a game like Old School Runescape utilizes skill-grinding, then I think they will be in a really good space. The fixes you presented like an online marketplace, dungeons, quests, minigames, etc. really reminded me of OS Runescape just without the combat mechanics. It is a shame that the community and developers haven't behaved in a promising way, though...
I played a lot and now I’m mostly waiting unless there’s friends to play with. But I feel the same as you, I hope they makes changes cause it has potential. No hate from me, I agree 100%. Saying it’s in open beta almost feels like an excuse for it lacking.
I agree with what you said. Plus have some points of my own: 1.The game would be a lot better if players were allowed to specialise, at least at the "later half" of levels, in one or two skills they enjoy the most, and then trade resources and finished items on some kind of trading post. especially as many of the skills feel like minigames. 2. The item request system is very impersonal. You don't interact with players you request items from, which is strange for an "MMO". "Ark: Survival Evolved" is a lot more "hardcore" and not at all cosy, but if you want to pass an item to a friend, press a key to throw it out of your inventory, and let another player pick up the parcel from in front of you. Of course this forces two people to actually stand next to each other, but it feels more social and less convoluted. 3. How come Guild Wars 2 has speech bubbles and Palia does not? It's supposed to be social! 4. If we are constantly travelling from one server to another, how are we supposed to make friends in-game? Palia wants to be our "home", but what's a home without neighbours? 5. Travelling to the second area, Bahari Bay, is a chore that often takes an entire day. Give us mounts, or bikes, or some other form of faster travel. Teleporting from stable to stable is expensive and immersion-breaking.
I would like to see more suggestions. Every game that comes out now just gets so much criticism, and thats why I hate to see so many people complain. Especially when those complaints are very vague and shallow themselves. I love this game, and I love playing it even though there's things I think need improving. But I want to see actual suggestions and things that could be done to make it better instead of 'this is done badly'. Searching/Filtering during crafting. More foods and crops. More guidance on how to unlock things - I've got a quest to get Mushroom soup but don't have the recipe so that's annoying, and I don't want to just look up everything. Something like an ingame market would have to be done right, because otherwise it could ruin the game. In New World its just the worst mechanic in any game I've ever played. I never use it because everything is so expensive and its hard to make money by selling things.
I'm probably gonna hold off trying Palia because the art direction really feels generic in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, graphics isn't the end for a game especially for an MMO, but it really feels like something that I've seen before. While I don't mind cartoonish graphics, it feels bland and it feels like what a mobile game would look like. Furniture and customization looks great though, although the lack of combat also really turns me off. It's most likely I'm not a part of the demographic the devs want to play their game, and that's okay. I'm likely better off waiting for games that will probably scratch my itch like Cities Skylines II, LBY, or Haunted Chocolatier whenever that releases.
i agree, i really dislike how generic it looks, the art style has no real identity to it. i love games like animal crossing and harvest moon/story of seasons in part for the creative and recognizable art style and design. especially for a game that is so focused on customization, i think palia would pull me in more if the style was,, more stylized i guess haha. although im still waiting for the switch release to check it out so maybe theyll make some improvements by then but i imagine something like this is probably set in stone
I joined the discord server just for the updates and I’m genuinely surprised how toxic the community is. I think most people know that open beta isn’t always the greatest. But one of the reasons they usually have open beta is for player feedback. And the fact that people can’t even give suggestions without getting a toxic train after them is crazy. Like how do you expect people to want to be part of a community that ridicules any type of feedback? It’s gonna end up being a dead game if they keep the game as it is now.
You should check out My Time At Sandrock's multiplayer mode! They just released it and from what i've heard it plays similar to mmo kinds of mechanics while being an actual really good, fleshed out life sim. I haven't played multiplayer yet because I want to finish single player first before it releases as full release in november.
I'm a FFXIV freak as well and I think Palia could totally take some inspiration from it. There's a ton of nuance in FFXIV's crafting system and I think it's among the most rewarding of any MMO. Hope they take a look at it and think about what they can maybe apply to Palia, as I absolutely adore it but will probably eventually get bored if the systems aren't fleshed out.
they could just make dungeons where its a bunch of puzzles to solve, where some puzzles would require certain items or mats to continue in the dungeon. iirc in gw2 there are sorta dungeons like that, where you (on top of fighting) solve puzzles to progress (jumping puzzles, or other kinds of puzzles)
some improvements.. cute :D i played this game since pre alpha BUT The support cannot be described as such, on August 7th there was a massive error, where the complete progress was reset for some players.... 20 days later the error is still not fixed. The players are stalled, devs are hiding, promise to give updates but nothing (some of them have also invested real money), nobody cares. Tickets are closed without comment, if you ask for the char to be deleted so that you can start over, it can happen that the char is deleted but your account remains closed... Or they just don't do it, thank you for your patience and tell you to either create a new account or wait until they fix it, when that will happen... I have no idea what they're up to, but it's pretty modest
I uninstalled to play other games but stayed on the Reddit cause reading the posts and comments on breaks is way more entertaining than it has any right to be 😂
FYI open beta means the game is 90% done. You DO NOT change core gameplay when your at the beta stage (let alone open beta thats here just for hype and stress testing-) that's done in pre-alpha and sometimes alpha (closed) so that's a useless statement by people who don't know anything about how games are made. The game is releasing as is and it will be abandoned very fast because theres something majorly rotten at the top if this is truly the result of 50mil dollars
Someone said that this budget for an MMO is kind of average, so I don't think saying that they didn't do enough with the money is fair, but tbh I have no idea about the kinda money that goes into games, let alone this kind of games.
I do like Palia and I certainly want to see this Genra grow as true socail games have not really found their stride. I would agree that the game does have a long way to go but as a proof of concept I think it does alright and they could certainly add more complexity if they wanted to but they could also offer more diversity. After mulling over this for awhile I do have to admit there is some nice subtle game design going on here. All of the activities are pretty simple. Travel around, look for things. Make the things that do the things. Each seperate task is not very creative. For example, Mining. You want a resource so you grab your pick and go. Mining nodes are scattered ALL over the map, passing through all areas, allowing you to forage or hunt to also gather food supplys for focus. Mining nodes also will reward extra minerals or even bugs. Gathering these resources are used for crafting but they are also used to unlock vualts and as gifts for the towns people who each have their own story line. While all that is happening you will likely have crops growing, mats refining or waiting for your house to be built As a player I found myself being less singulary focussed on one thing in Palia as I would with other MMO's but more over all picture on how to interact with the game on the different levels. I think the game developers can take this two ways, add more complexity or add more skills that interact with the existing ones to encourage a broader gameplay style. However as an MMO it does kind of fail in the regards to interacting with other people. To me it doesn't feel that the interaction with other players was well thought out. What the game needs is a stronger focus on what its all about, if its about a cozy socail experince then its missing the mark as even chatting to others feels pretty under done. Little reason to group up and the major feature of the game 'house' building is a private instance which means no one really see's what you do unless you invite them and with the instance population being rather small with little to do together you might not ever have a reason to form those friendships with actual people as you do with the townsfolk which is also a bit underdone in terms of story and presentation but is passable. The fact that the game is provoking the conversation though shows interest so that is a good thing. It's hard to judge an MMO in two weeks, 2 months gives you a better picture of the community once the allure of making your numbers bigger wears off.
Remember when No Man's Sky copped a lot for undelivering. And look at it now. I'm enjoying this, will give it more time. See how it goes. Seeing it's been open Bata now for only three weeks. That's what Bata is for :)
Its just came out of beta and already they are having the first event so I like that. But having said I have played 100+ hrs and maxed out everything (bundle, storage hosing etc) and most of my characters are max friendship/relationship. I feel like I have nothing to do no more, I feel you when you say shallow but I just play alot and move on to the next game. Rn Im just logging in to keep my farm and do a few cake parties so I have max gold for the event and buy everything. Non-intractable furniture kinda sucks, and no one really ever sees ur home unless u post screenshots on Discord coz the home plot is its own server. Also levels have no benefits except cooking and gardening which give u bonuses for being lvl 25+ so that's there. Every time you log in it resets my FOV and 3D render settings plus having to typing my password in each time is a big L. At the end there is no end game so once I bought all the home plots, houses and storage space I have nothing to spend my Gold on....
Wait, so can my friends not come visit my home even if we play together? I thought that was one of their major "selling" points? Then again, having 100hrs of fun gaming experience for free (granted that you didn't spend money in the game's premium store) is a net positive and kinda rare these days.
@@D0MiN0ChAn They can visit your home if you are physically there. But they can't go over to your plot when you are online out in the world, or when you are offline.
I have been loving this game. but it is ruff from time to time. I know there is a gift thing you can do to help some to get the things they need. but i hope we do get a bit more.
I feel like there's still a lot of bugs in my opinion, more than there should be for people that come from major companies and have so much experience. My love for it has diminished a lot for a lot of reasons. The game itself doesn't have that much depth, characters can't even use the furniture they make. It's all just decor which is weird. There's talk of more added content now, I hope it's true. Been an mmorpg gamer since '09, as it stands now this is not an mmo.
Yeah I was really disappointed that there's no basic interactions like literally just sitting on a chair. Really meh. It would be nice to have a couple players sitting around a starred meal they just made.
I haven’t played any cozy games other than Animal Crossing New Horizons but I feel like that community is really lovely. They aren’t afraid of critiquing the game at all and are really helpful to new players and just seem really welcoming overall. Does anyone else have this experience?
Palia is not what they marketing for. For sure it is not a MMO. Has only two small maps with few resource to gather and few repetitive things to do each day. Because the activities have no goals and steps between, no interaction with a market place where to sell what you do to others or exchange or large quantity and quality of resource and outputs, they are boring after 1 week. If we look at the hunting they have 2 types of animals to hunt, few crops for garden and few flowers, few cooking recipes and so on. I get is beta, but for a game that cost so much to make it is 10% of actual Coral Island that is also early access and cost 31$. I got bored real fast after I reach level 10 on all skills. For now I stopped to play. Maybe I will log in 1 year for now. As for the shop, it is very expensive vs design and what they offer. 5 $ is enough for a costume in my opinion, 50$ is already a long hour game on Steam with multiple things to do like Atelier (video game series).
There's 0 similarity between this game and the sims which makes me a bit confused when it comes to people being disappointed by it. Like, it's not marketed as one, so why is everyone sad that it's not? Like sure, it's a simulator, but that doesn't mean much. It's like saying "gosh darn it why isn't Phasmophobia like Mortuary Assistant? They're both horror games!"
I... think you have very much misunderstood the context here? We're not disappointed in it because it isn't like the Sims, but because there are ways in which it is falling flat compared to how it was marketed. I am not playing this thinking I am getting a Sims game.
@@Fragmented_Mask that's literally not what I'm saying tho? People in a couple of the comments were saying "it's not like the sims so I don't like it". Which I think is bc they assume that Satch will only talk about games similar to Sims
@@deliriouscheeto Well your original comment said "it's not marketed as one, so why is everyone sad that it's not?". The use of "everyone" is kind of implying that this is a lot of people saying this when actually it was a tiny number of comments (I saw only 2) in amongst all the other comments.
I've seen so many ridiculously defensive comments on youtube videos that offered even the tiniest bit of criticism. Yes it's in Beta, but isn't that the BEST time to get constructive criticism?? When you still have time to make a lot of changes and improvements, and you're still actively working on the game and possible gameplay rather than just events, new costmetic, etc. Not allowing anyone to voice any sort of dislikes because the game is in beta or because it's free to play is so absurd to me... You don't have to agree to understand why some people might we unhappy about certain things... I personally understand the reasoning for not making pets free (yet). I don't specifically care about the pets atm.. To me they are cosmetic since you can't interact with them, but there are people to whom these pets are still gameplay because they offer companionship. I might not agree with them, but that doesn't make their opinion less valid and it doesn't mean they are not allowed to voice it. To some people having a very expensive premium store in a f2p is fine, but to others it's really demotivating... People who wanted to support the game and its devs who found themselves shocked by the weird in game currency bundles and overall prices, ended up voicing that critique because they genuinely wanted to be positive but ended up not even being able to buy anything within their budget.. And that is in a game that is still full of (some very severe) bugs. My point it, we don't have to agree on everything, but we should be able to voice critiques even if it's a f2p beta.. It's up to the developers which issues they will address and which they will not. They don't need the players to hold their hands and defend them. (unless someone is obviously being very rude, of course the comments can call out rudeness)
As someone who's relatively new to gaming, i kind of appreciate games that are pretty basic. I do agree with your criticisms and that those things need to be improved on, but for now it helps me learn basic stuff without being overwhelmed. But yeah this is very person specific and i hope they continue to improve it
the comment about the discord is a little wrong i would say yeah some toxic messages are said some channels like general but overall its a very humble area to leave feed back i havent had no issues nor ran into toxic people dont judge a book by it cover if you havent been there yourself to be honest, also there some bad apples everywhere
yeah i gotta agree here. i chat in there pretty often & i have not seen this toxic positivity or anything. someone commented on the cash shop & everyone agreed. ive seen others talking about how it doesnt really feel like an mmo & people agree with them & start to discuss what would help it. maybe im just on when the more "normal" people are online though idk LOL
Hey Satch, do you own an iPhone? I showed the trailer of Hello Kitty Island Adventure to my girlfriend and she immediately became obsessed with it. It has a lot of similarities to Animal Crossing but with Sanrio characters. I just thought you might like it as well. The only down side is that it's exclusive to Apple Arcade :(
@@rai1578 I'm actually tempted to buy an iPhone just to play it... the devs did say that porting the game to other platforms may happen, but they did not say when. 😶
@@Pawts I would be too if I could afford a new phone.... I didn't know that they were considering porting it though, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for that 🥲
I tried to like this game , even played in closed beta . But i didnt 😅 i found it to be an endless grind loop. And it wasnt fun at all. Exicted for fae farm next month.
I loved it in the beginning, but the gameplay is not overly in depth, wish there was more with hunting, fishing, or bug catching. I always jump back in when i want to go on a virtual vacation.
**TW: This comment is all over the place cause I can't gather my thoughts neatly as my brain is a literal whirlwind when it comes to things Palia excels at and things they do not.** While I agree with you on some points, I just want to say the biggest issues for me are how wonderfully fleshed out the characters are and the disconnect of that in the story line and most of the characters themselves, its like many little stories that don't totally mesh together in a way that benefits the story.. I'm hoping with the launch of Maji Market event itll start to feel more solid. Crafting UI is super annoying, most of the UIX is really subpar as if wasn't finished and the platforming/collision is a trainwreck, just basic movement can be frustrating when near a wall or cliff; as far as the discord goes, I feel the disgruntled player base can not voice opinions with out critical thinking.. Lastly as an end game ffxiv stan be careful comparing 12 years of development to Palia's crafting LMAO, crafting didn't come close to what is is now until after the relaunch of base game ARR, well more so HW and The Firmament.
With regards to the discord, most of the toxicity is not one sided; the overly protective players are not the only ones causing issues. For the most part, I sit on the fence and do not get involved - what I see is more akin to squabbling children. A lot of the criticism is well received, but a lot of it is not particularly constructive. People then comment on the criticism with equally valid counter-points or alternatives, and instantly get attacked as toxic. It is all very bizarre, everyone just needs to grow up and realise they do not have to agree with one another all the time.
I loved the game initially, it's cute and charming, BUT yeah it feels like a mobile game and the cash shop makes it feel even more so. Most the cosmetics look the same and are so overpriced for something that looks like what I'm already wearing. Also the fact they locked the new pets behind a paywall like that, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Gives me EA vibes, which is something you really don't want your game to give off. Even if you buy enough currency required to unlock the base cat, you can't get it because there's nothing in the cosmetic shop that price as the base cat is an addon bonus, not something you can just buy outright. SO you have to spend MORE irl money just to unlock it. That doesn't give off homey vibes that gives off EA.
Satch, there is no marketplace in the game, but you can request whatever you need from players on the server you are on (like wood for furniture which is what you mentioned). I hope this feature will be more prominent tho, bc I feel like very little people are actually using it and it would be nice if you had some benefit from it yourself, bc just giving something to others for the satisfaction of it might not be good enough. It would also be cool if it would give you a little prompt if you had something in your inventory that someone else requested - just a little reminder that there's a feature like that.
The simple fact that I can craft a chair but not even sit on it tells how much this game is great at achieving nothing as a life sim. I see a lot a folks invoking the beta state of the game. Not a valid argument IMO. It's clear that Openbeta in this case means "not even close to be finished but released anyway". For now this game doesn't worth my time, but maybe one day I will remember this game exists and be surprised by the fact it is still alive and actually good. At least I hope so.
I’m tired of farming exploring simulators tbch. This gives me star dew, dream light valley and genshin impact. And Isn’t what I’m looking for at all. And I don’t like that it looks like a mobile game.
The more I see you with glasses, the more I think they really suit you, you look very cute and sexy with them, not that it matters what random people on the Internet think 😂 I will wait to see what happens with Palio, see how it develops. Not investing on it yet.
In game markets are doomed to be exploited. Ive seen it over and over again and seen games like Everquest 2 where the economy goes completely bonkers because of it. I would much like to be able to sell what I make in Palia, but not to other players.
Funny no one has compared it to RuneScape but that is what it reminds me of. I think maybe the game designers are staying away from some features you are talking about because then it would be too much like RuneScape like a market or grand exchange. Also had groups for killing monsters in dungeons or you could go on your own. Did love that game. The graphics in RuneScape were no where near as nice.
to be honest cant really moan about it being bare bones when it has only been out for less than a month, now i would find your comments valid if the game had been out for 2 or 3 months but i always class the first month as testing ground so while your entatiled to what you are saying i just dont find it a valid enough for a game that has only been out for less than a month
At first, I was excited about this game, but the more I watched others play, the more I lost interest. I'm sure it will improve down the road, but right now, I'll just keep watching from the sidelines.
Still not an MMO. 25 people in a random lobby is just a shooter lobby. Game is mostly client sided and cheats are rampant because of that. Community is insanely toxic and in denial about the state of the game. There are two hidden skills however that there are some assets for, Blacksmithing and Animal Husbandry, So maybe they will add something. So far the devs have been slow to non reactive to issues, Even more so given that they are supposed to have like 200 people and 50 million on the line. Open Betas are not for adding new features or turning a game into an actual MMO, which they CAN NOT do, Betas are for POLISHING the game and getting things ready for release. What they would need to do is take it back to Alpha to get this game decent and if 50 million and 200 people couldn't get it done the first time, then they surely wont later on.
The game has a lot of potential, but it definetly needs more content and a LOT of quality of life improvements, specially with the workbench crafting and weird hitboxes while climbing cliffs and stuff. Hope the devs pay attention to this kind of criticism because this game can be trully great!
if i put one more arrow into a tree i might lose my mind
I lose my mind a little every time my character starts climbing just cuz I was trying to walk away from the wall 🫠
-is people not actually understanding that you can harvest things together... there are two gatherables, that you can gather with others ( as a matter of fact some items you must be in a group with, no party needed though, just near other players)
a wave of newbs have come and get to it and hack and chop and dont wait for others to come.
🫡 lol
which is toxic to me, that they cant switch gears mentally. it's rediculous. then, no one calls to them the next time, because they do not share. players party up and ignore the server chat and just let their specific party know or invite only ppl they see in the server who are NOT being greedy.
I have come from other mmos
which i have played many of...
and you dont need to stomp others down in this game...
I have bought a few curated outfits to mix and match to make a very specific and unique look but i am not paying to play either... there are no boosts from these items.
purely cosmetic
a unique aaspect of the game:
you can even invite around friends and if they are hungry and have no food... as long as they participate doing one step of the cooking they all get all the food together.
People were tripping like wait.. you are taking my ingredients? nope i am using mine... but if you were to have one ingredient that i do not have. Your ingredient must be on hand in your personal bag - not at home.... only then will it be used and you have to be the one that does the part associated with that one part... i specifically told them to clear their bag.. and it worked wonders.
free food, free cooking lvls = win win
The decorating system rewards you by having you build your own items...
This is open beta still, I'm sure they have a lot more installed for us.
just saying, but furniture does not occupy any storage! but I get it lol
@@deliriouscheeto I expect it will change because each NPC has a skill guild association and we still have some NPCs that are missing theirs. I think Tamala will be a potion guild person and
Delaila will be our animal husbandry person etc. (spoken as someone who played in alpha)
FF14 had whole ass crafting raids for a time which feels like exactly what Palia would thrive with
What I really appreciate from your reviews is that not only do you praise and critique as necessary, but also give actual SUGGESTIONS and SOLUTIONS to your critiques.
Game is a farmville mod for Fortnite, uses the basic UE server for a shooter game and everything. Def NOT an MMO.
Can you tell me examples of words that are not profanity but are banned in Palia? Just so I don't get in trouble? 😆
Why even make open beta if you're not gonna listen to the feedback? Yikes
Pretty sure the devs were banning people being absolute assholes, about the cash shop. So good riddance to bad rubbish.
Criticizing an overpriced cash shop isn't being an 'absolute asshole'. These people had 30+ million USD to make this game, they're not an indie development studio, so stop acting like they can't handle some criticism. @@RonW357
i disagree, ive only seen the team being transparent since the alphas thru to now, if someone was banned, i am sure they earned it one way or another.

There should definitely be a way to get clothes by not paying real money…
There is tons of clothing options inside the game without needing real money
@@ZombehPanda wouldn't say tons really. Personally I don't mind bc it's just clothes, but it's definitely not tons
it’s free, they gotta make their money somehow
So it SHOULD have quite a bit more content than Palia
That being said, I do definitely agree that it's a bit shallow.
I’m enjoying Palia immensely thanks for telling me about it!
Same here, I learned about it from Sach and besides the premium store being expensive af, it's a good game! (Which tbf I'm never interested in cosmetics anyway so idc)
Just recently found your channel and think your sims content is hilarious and it's awesome to hear you play ffxiv 😊
It reminds me of “My time at Portia”.
the art style & character design reminds me so much of disney dreamlight valley, like similar enough that when he was showing the character creation screen i literally thought he had made a mistake & used the wrong footage for a second 😂😂 are they made by the same developer??
If Disney made this game, there would be ads and invasive and very overpriced micro transactions. But their current focus is on Disney dreamlight valley so I doubt they’d start a whole new project without milking all of the money out of ppl for dreamlight valley first lol
yeah, it's kind of a weird fusion of Coral Island & DreamlightValley lol
DDLV looks busted af though. it more looks like WoW or LoL art style (half the people on the team worked on those games)
I accidentally stumbled upon the rare Sernuk while climbing, and startled it and had to attack it on my own before I had the chance to let anyone know where it was 😭
It was like 2 weeks ago and I’m still a little upset about it
(Also yes there is a magical blue chappa that splits into 3 when you shoot it but I haven’t seen it yet)
@@jellykelly1462 yea, but I think it's bc you get thrown to a different server each time, so it's different to actually talk to anyone for longer. As soon as they go to their house or change maps, you'll be on a different server. Not easy to find someone for longer just by playing
@@Scarylyn14 blue? It was white for me
@@deliriouscheeto are they white? I still haven’t seen one, I’m only going off what a friend who plays told me 😅
Palia needs:
-SITTING option on chairs etc.
-Regenerating health on Palium nodes so there is incentive to gather it at least in duo
-BETTER optimization, my PC can run Witcher 3 on ultra, but in Palia I get massive STUTTERING and screen tearing if I set auto settings in graphics ; ; Yep, my auto settings are epic lmao
-FREE pet obtainable through quest that will auto loot things I gathered (not fancy looking ofc, fancy ones should be in premium shop)
-Animals like COWS and CHICKEN on my plot, that will produce milk and eggs when fed with crops. Without them my plot feels not cottage core enough for me, even FarmVille had this...
-Showing real life currency on premium shop and getting rid of these "33% promotions" and WAY MORE affordable prices, I love one of outfit and I would like to buy it ; ;
I am with you on a lot of this.
Kind - Yes
Friendly - Yes
But can you make friends?
Personally I find someone chopping flow trees every time I go to Bahari Bay and they always ask for others to join

Thank you for the honesty😊 at least I got an actual view of the game
I just joined the Discord to learn about the game and you are spot on about the toxicity of the "positive" players. They are very passive-aggressive towards any opinion that is not a glowing review of the game. I personally think they are giving these devs too much credit since a lot of this game is inspired by other games, and those games have much better crafting and MMO mechanics. I was going to invite friends to play with me, but for now it's more of a short, casual singleplayer experience until they add more to it
Okay as a big FFXIV fan I’d love some SatchOnSims On FFXIV gameplay. I’d love to see Sh’anice Sh’anice the Miqote 😂😂
Ditto! 😂
This game comes off as a watered down My Time at Portia. I'll check it out when it's done.
There was once a cozy MMO, a little lost gem named “Glitch.” That was many moons ago. I still miss it.
We should have the crafting system like the cooking system in the game. I think it will be so much fun.
This game literally looks like a Disney Dreamlight Valley knockoff, the characters have the exact same models and the art style is extremely similar.
Except it's coming out at a similar time so probably was in the works when DDLV was in the works as well 🤔
Satch do you have any interest in playing Coral Island? Not sure if you’re into single player farming games!
I agree with what you said. Plus have some points of my own:
1.The game would be a lot better if players were allowed to specialise, at least at the "later half" of levels, in one or two skills they enjoy the most, and then trade resources and finished items on some kind of trading post. especially as many of the skills feel like minigames.
I'm likely better off waiting for games that will probably scratch my itch like Cities Skylines II, LBY, or Haunted Chocolatier whenever that releases.
i agree, i really dislike how generic it looks, the art style has no real identity to it. i love games like animal crossing and harvest moon/story of seasons in part for the creative and recognizable art style and design. especially for a game that is so focused on customization, i think palia would pull me in more if the style was,, more stylized i guess haha. although im still waiting for the switch release to check it out so maybe theyll make some improvements by then but i imagine something like this is probably set in stone
sorry but having microtransactions in beta is a MASSIVE red flag...
What are these teacher aesthetics, Satch? 😂
Lovinf it
I don't know this game and I don't want it to know
I joined the discord server just for the updates and I’m genuinely surprised how toxic the community is.
Tell me you're in the Palia subreddit without telling me you're in the Palia subreddit

While all that is happening you will likely have crops growing, mats refining or waiting for your house to be built
As a player I found myself being less singulary focussed on one thing in Palia as I would with other MMO's but more over all picture on how to interact with the game on the different levels.
But they can't go over to your plot when you are online out in the world, or when you are offline.
i suggest some stuff but never got lash back at ???
Isn't open beta a testing phase where you give feedback? Weird anyone would call you negative for that. 😂😂
“Palia is shallow” …. “I’m obsessed with Palia “
I'm talking about people in the comments, not Sach btw
I... think you have very much misunderstood the context here?
Feels like this is what Sims 5 would be. A mix of Sims and Fortnite. I literally thought this was the sims, and then I keep thinking it's fortnite
I think I will enjoy it more once it comes out on Switch.
Hey Satch, do you own an iPhone? I showed the trailer of Hello Kitty Island Adventure to my girlfriend and she immediately became obsessed with it.
It has a lot of similarities to Animal Crossing but with Sanrio characters. I just thought you might like it as well.
The only down side is that it's exclusive to Apple Arcade :(
i cannot tell you how upset I am about the fact that it's only on apple arcade
@@rai1578 I'm actually tempted to buy an iPhone just to play it... the devs did say that porting the game to other platforms may happen, but they did not say when. 😶
@@Pawts I would be too if I could afford a new phone.... I didn't know that they were considering porting it though, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for that 🥲
People with a lot of money for a said project, typically have no clue as to what they are doing. lul
The more I see you with glasses, the more I think they really suit you, you look very cute and sexy with them, not that it matters what random people on the Internet think 😂
I will wait to see what happens with Palio, see how it develops. Not investing on it yet.
In game markets are doomed to be exploited. Ive seen it over and over again and seen games like Everquest 2 where the economy goes completely bonkers because of it. I would much like to be able to sell what I make in Palia, but not to other players.
It’s Harvest Moon meets Animal crossing.
It feels like a bare bones version of my time at portia, it also feels too close to that game to be coincidental.
My current complains about this game can be boiled down to a lack of a game play loop
I wish people would stop speaking subscription-based plans into existence.
to be honest cant really moan about it being bare bones when it has only been out for less than a month, now i would find your comments valid if the game had been out for 2 or 3 months but i always class the first month as testing ground so while your entatiled to what you are saying i just dont find it a valid enough for a game that has only been out for less than a month
