I am always amazed at the magnificence--especially when they bristle and display-- of the male chimps.... how anyone ever thought they would make " pets" is beyond me. The shots of them enjoying there space are truly breathtaking. Thank you for the work you do.
Emily Carter because we were brought up with backwards logic, people think that everything in the world is theirs for the taking (you do gotta admit that they're really cute though). It breaks my heart to see when anything is caged for any reason. I get angry at myself because we have cats, and even though we love them more than life itself, and they love us (we won't even call them "pets", they're our friends and family) they aren't exactly free to wander the earth and do as they please. Sometimes I think about opening the door to let them go, but like these chimps, they don't know how to be "in the wild"... and because I'm terribly selfish, and terrified of them getting hurt. But let's be honest, we're all in the same boat. Our prison might be a little bigger, but it's still a prison, and we're all held captive whether we want to admit it or not. Freedom is an illusion, but the illusion is finally starting to break down, and people are waking up to the fact that we're slaves. The world really is the movie The Matrix!
This video fills my heart with joy. ❤️ Thank God for the founder and for all those who keep Save the Chimps a continuing reality. They are amazing animals, individuals who have been given their freedom finally, after years of gruesome lab incarceration, to live out their lives in this amazing sanctuary. Thank you to all caregivers and to all donors. You are angels of mercy.
I'm glad they are not on display where stupid people can say stupid things about one of the smartest animals there are. God Bless them and let their lives be peaceful and content.

This was absolutely disgusting... those poor chimpanzees must have been terrified enough to be outside and touching grass for the first time without having a bunch of people watching, yelling, and ooh-ing and aww-ing at them. You clearly see a few of them seeking assurance... and everyone clapped!! I am shocked that an organization like this let this happen...

I can understand caring for hurt or injured animals but to injure them on purpose should be a crime. shame on all participants. my hole life I've disliked those who are cruel to others and animals. when their homes were being bulldozed and harvested those that spoke up were called tree hugers when all they were doing was trying to save these beautiful animals homes in the wild where they belonged. now y'all want a pat on the back... not happening by me. heart breaking this is their first time in the sunshine and it's still nothing like their native habitat.
Hi Diane, there is food spread across the three-acre island for them to forage. Given that this is the first time most of them have been outside in their lives, they were too emotional at first, to show an interest in foraging for the goodies.
It could be if any or a few were babys were put in cages for almost all of their lives they may not no how to climb trees and would have to be trained how that's really sad consider that's what they are supposed to be doing if they lived in the wild
