- In this video I show what was a serious failure of equipment that could have ruined my visit to the Isle of Arran.
The failure was: with a RAM Ball Adapter 1/4" for Action Camera
The success was with the DJI Action 4 Camera, its Protection Cage and the Osmo Action 1.5m Extension Rod
Details of all can be found below:

OMG, I thought you’d binned your new bike for a second 😮
Sorry, couldn’t help myself in making the video 😂
@@thecampingbiker791 You are a bad man.
Another one worried for the first 20 seconds
Phew, might have to keep my head down for a bit 😂
spoke to you at ripon today i was with walking stick attached to my suzuki
when i hear of failures like this it makes me feel a little verified that i don't trust & wouldnt mount any expensive electronic devices like a camera or phone on my bike, even though the majority don't seem to have issues with vibration or material fatigue. GL
I probably pushed the RAM mount beyond its capability with the camera extension pole but seen many others using similar set up..I’ve been running cameras on bike on the RAM mounts for a few years now but the difference is the extension pole..
A thought you were down to,glad your ok surprised at the ram mount
Yep, very surprised as I’ve been using them for years, not this specific one, that was only a couple of years old!
Me also, not that old either but looking inside it I can see where a weakness could cause problems… design flaw me thinks
Glad to see YOU'RE okay. That's our main concern.
We all may huff and puff about the 'additional' expenses we have to put onto tech and stuff like these things in our ones nowadays but realistically, this extra few quid saved you hundreds.
Glad to see you're not totally out of pocket but that ramalamadingdong mount seems questionable if it has space inside for additional security. It's like that been skipped.
Make sure your phone is properly secure as that's where all our lives are nowadays.
Yep, cheap enough case protection did its job… 😅
I'd get in touch with ram and see what they have to say, it looks like a stress fracture, they may have improved the design or least they know to improve it, i would also find some way of attaching an lanyard on to phone case and camera case for such events, i personally wouldn't use a phone mount that just clamps to phone, i use a cheap universal phone case that the phone gets zipped in, it has a d ring so have a lanyard on it with a mini carabina on other end to go around the handlebar
Might just do that for their info but you sometimes just have unto learn and move on.. good idea for a lanyard and I’ll give some thought to it.. thanks 👍🏻
Thought you'd come a cropper there......good job you're ok....
'Ull' east yorkshire.
Bit dramatic with camera bouncing down the road 😬
Excessive vibration from the stick over time caused metal fatigue and failure.
Yep, probably right… still a bit disappointed but hey ho..worse things happen at sea 😀
@@thecampingbiker791 in fact after watching further into ya vid it’s more evident ain’t it. You are putting a lot of load through that joint that ain’t really made to take it. Flat camera at speeds creates a lot of drag. Constantly pushing. Back on the fixing. All about leverage.
They seem to have engineered for cost saving as time has gone bye. For the price the newer stuff should be top quality pieces of kit as the older stuff is. Perhaps they will take a step back and realise it’s not all about profit per item, it’s about reputation and selling more items as a result. To be fair though, a camera on a stick is a fair bit of extra load, though in my opinion not more than they might have reasonably expected it to be used for. Just about every other camera I see on a bike is at the end of similar “sticks”.
My thoughts exactly, they even market the kit for motorcycle camera use but unless there was a flaw in manufacturing this specific item then it’s not up to camera pole use.. I believe there’s cheaper Chinese copies that have metal rod running though!
Stinky stinky clickbait!!
I've unsubscribed...
Oh no, wait a mo......
Im a grown up! 😂😂😂
As always informative and entertaining. Crack on!
Just a bit of fun but also informative… maybe a tad click bait 😂
No doubt you get another free of charge for sponsoring them.
Nope, all paid for in full and a bit cynical to say I’m sponsoring them.. just giving the facts of the incident and very happy with DJI for obvious reasons when I’ve spent hard earned cash on the camera which survived a tumble down the road.. maybe you wouldn’t want me to make the video outlining good and bad?
@@thecampingbiker791 No thanks. I don't need to make videos showing what a great camping biker I am. I hope you donate any youtube ad money to charity then.
@@dogzero1 ah well, can’t win them all
I love the channel if you dont like it dont watch. If you dislike the product say why. I have bought a few camping products recommended on here and they have been great.
@@oliverwhitby4778 he's best ignored and thank you Oliver! I can never understand people that are on the edge of being quite abusive when we put a lot of effort into making videos
Camera falls off, catastrophic, how many people were killed?
Nearly killed the camera 😬
I’ve changed the thumbnail, looks like I misjudged the humour lying deep within me 👍🏻
Come on Andrew, defo a bit of clic bate. You don’t mention the wind resistance applying leverage to the ball, don’t get me wrong surely that thread should go through the ball, RAM cutting corners. Mine are solid not hollow but I don’t have many. Hope your enjoying Aran. All the best Kenny.
Might change the thumbnail 😬 I suspect they changed them and I just expected they would be solid but now I know they’re not I wouldn’t mount anything on them..need to find an alternative 👍🏻
Changed the thumbnail, think I misjudged the humour lying deep within 😬
Stinky stinky clickbait. I’m disappointed at myself for falling for it to be honest. Unsubscribed.
Goodby..no fun in people these days 😂
Sounds like he wanted you skidding down the road lol 😂 🤦♂️
@@ramsay892 makes you wonder… I’ll try harder next time 😊
😂😂no don’t you bother lol
@@ramsay892 I’m just happy the camera survived 😬
