  • I’m coming to you from the 3rd row of a Lexus RX. And this is the first time anyone’s been able to say that because after years of pleading, Lexus has finally answered the call for an additional 2 seats in their most popular SUV.
    MSRP as-tested: $65,000

At least with the third row down, the trunk/boot space is huge!

You can tell that Lexus never intended on offering the RX with a third row when they developed this generation.

They could've made the 3rd row a little more to the back for more legroom. That boot is pretty huge even with the 3rd row up, and also considering that this car was never intended to have 3 rows.

The last couple years, I feel Lexus is marketing their nameplate and reliability more then providing innovation. Darn thing still doesn't have Android Auto.

Hard to argue against some of that.

Yup. Typical lazy "what's the absolute minimum we can get away with" Lexus engineering as of late. This thing is simply not competitive in its class against the MDX, let alone any of the EU options like the VASTLY superior Q7. The only reason you'd buy this is because you're scared of unscheduled service visits, which is Lexus' typical MO. Our cars are worse than our competitors by pretty much every metric, including our worst in class infotainment that we're STILL trying to flog at you after nearly a decade despite NO ONE liking it, but buy one anyway cause reliable. Look at where BMW's iDrive was in 2010 (the year Lexus introduced the terrible Enform mouse system) to where it is now. Or look at what Mercedes had then vs. their latest MB UX system. Both made humongous improvements to their electronic systems. Lexus? They replaced the pointer stick thing (in some cars, not the RX) with a track pad, which is equally lousy.....annnnnnd that's it.

Really really hate the 2nd row with 2 seats. What on earth were they thinking when they were designing the car? what if a family with 5 people wanna go on trip? they need to bring stuffs along, so they have to fold down the 3rd row to have more space to store their stuffs, then the car will become an SUV with 4 seats, how can a family with 5 people go on trip with 4 seats?

Why does the Highlander, even in Hybrid Platinum trim still get saddled with halogen head lights?

  • @76carmel
    @76carmel 5 лет назад +2

Lexus created the RX L in order compete with the 3-row luxury crossover segment where the Acura MDX and Volvo XC90 rule the roost. The other 3 row vehicles, the GX and LX are body on frame SUVs. I think Lexus half baked this one, and like you said, should use the cousin Toyota Highlander platform to use as a guideline. Lexus can do this, but will they?

You really want that 7 seater configuration, wait for the Hyundai Palisade as it's much better looking inside/out with more useful third row and cargo practicality than this RX 450h L. Personally I'd rather have the Standard RX350 and save some cash while having a better looking mid-sized Lexus Crossover. My thoughts though.

Why are people complaining about Carplay and AA? Since when it has become a big deal in Auto Industry. In cars display - the engine parameters and safety info are more important. Not some random tweets and facebook notifications. This generation is so obsessed with cellphones.
And Hybrid in SUV should have already happened. I mean is there any other 7 seater Hybrids in the market?

debendra gurung It’s modern technology and it’s more than a convenience its a safety feature. And in a $65k SUV it should be there.

    • @debendragurung3033

Ok, but why AA or Carplay. Especially why trust Apple, who is building its own EV and using the datas in the current vehicles to optimize their future EV.
And if everyone are so gleamed about AA and Carplay as so technologically advanced why out of all manufactures- they cant push their technology to Teslas. Because Tesla knows it , the datas always matters. These companies may now just be feeding maps and infotainment but they will soon penetrate into the Engine and interior electronics logs.
There are lots that are electronically controlled - ABS steering, Brakes, Suspension , the fuel injector and pumps. How much things are at stake? If the logs gets shared with the other company, who is to take the blame. For a company that has obligation to sell 10million vehicles anually - I dont expect to jump into this band wagon.
Following the success of the Prius hybrid - we wanted to see a hybrid go mainstream on every possible trims and continue on the trend. And Lexus have done it. We want it to perform better if not as good as the Land Cruiser being able to add features the crawl control and the multiterrian capabilities - with the Hybrid Drive trains.
For fucks sake , let Auto manufacture do what they do best and stop whinning about them not kneeling to Apple or Google.

Are people so technologically challenged? One can fully use their iphone or android with a $5 clip on anywhere in the car using bluetooth. Much better than AA or Carplay because one can get all the functions (including videos) while utilizing the cars' audio system...I've been doing it for last 7 years. Using casting, one can even use larger displays for great videos from youtube, netflix or their cable tv for their passengers....something, one cannot do with AA or Carplay.

Instead of a useless third row a battery pack maybe from a Prius Prime would be a much better fit for it. _But Noooo, Lexus doesn't want a single plug-in in its lineup._

    Good car
3rd row should be way more bigger
Android auto and apple car play
    Update the interior
    Update tech
    More power
    RX F version WITH POWER
    TV optio
    Heated rear seats option
Make 2nd row have 10 way power reclying seats
    Get rid of some plastic
    Make it full electric
Interior lighting to 1st row 2nd row and 3rd row
2nd row and maybe 3rd row massaging seats and forgot to mention MAYBE 10 way power reclying seats IN 3Rd ROW , And of course the 1st row has all off those
Glass roof all the way going to 1st row 2nd row and 3rd row maybe similar to the BMW X7
    More wood
REMOVE TOUCHPAD and ADD touchscreen ASAP
3rd row tv's would be nice but may prob never happen
    and more
AND THEY YA GO a SUV that will rival Mercedes BMW and Audi
