I love your delivery style for this game. Valheim is slow going, generally relaxing and then a few combat moments. And your style is PERFECT to listen to
A very nicely put together video! Really enjoyed watching the well paced progression, the great editing and your narration! Would certainly happily watch a further 100 days of your progress! 👍👍
You can chop the pines with an upgraded flint axe. However, you do need the bronze one for the birch and the oak trees for the fine wood. I have actually crafted the finewood bow without either of those axes... I just deconstructed a few campsites for the corewood, and got finewood from bashing coastal shipwrecks and rolling fallen birch logs into other logs repeatedly. I found it a fun challenge to create the finewood bow before killing the first boss or entering the black forest at all. Great storytelling on this playthrough. I enjoyed watching this. It is my very favorite game all time with over 3200 hours ingame so far.
As a new player who always tries to squeeze every hour possible from their games- What passed the bulk of that time? Are you a builder or farmer? Just exploring?
@NoahsArk999 I mostly play survival on a server with my family. I also enjoy building in creative, and modded. From the practice of building in creative, I tend to build fairly elaborate builds in survival worlds as well. I have been a huge minecraft fan since it came out and have several thousand hours playing that as well.
Since one can get core wood even on day 1 if you find the campsites or or if you venture into the Black Forest with a flint axe, the only "problematic" material is fine wood. I usually ask the big blue boys for some help to get that as early as possible (I always skip the crude bow). Finding shipwrecks often takes a lot of time and you may not be lucky enough to find even one early in the game, but finding a troll in the BF is an easy and sure thing. All you need is to lure them to the nearest oak or birch tree and then make them focus their attacks on the tree/logs. Even if you are unlucky and die in the process, the EXP loss at this early stage is non-significant and the early fine wood for the bow and comfort items (chair, table, banner) is worth that price. Another, less exciting method is to use game mechanics and make falling beech logs to destroy birches and then roll beech logs into birch logs untill they split. Given the rate of deaths from falling/rolling trees in Valheim, this seemingly boring method may turn out as lethal as employing a troll.
Honestly i feel as if this is one of the first games you could actually just live in. i find myself just chillin in my base cooking or doing base bitch stuff alot. i really enjoy this game
Thank you, James, it's always a joy to sit down and watch your content. I would love to see the next 100 days or even the next 50 days. I love how the priority is for the preservation of your breakfast and or dinner. Bacon and Ham.
I love the timelapses during the building process, and the initial structure looked incredibly impressive! And those Two Towers wink wink Your storytelling is fantastic, bud. I thoroughly enjoy it, especially the part about salted pork xD Keep up the good work! Can't wait for more
I finally got around to watching this - excellent video James :) You did a great job of condensing a ton of footage into only 2-3 minutes at a time. I really struggle with cutting stuff out, so this is great example of how it can be done and still be great in the end. The B-Roll and Time-Lapse stuff really made the video shine.
cheers @bunneh Im struggling to find a new game to complete but Valhime is a fun survival game and it was nice to experiment with a different style of video.
Hi James, happy to see you back posting a vid. Love the Valheim playthrough, definitely look forward to seeing another 100 days. Impressed by your build too. I was playing the game too around the Ashlands update with my daughter, and we made up to same game stage where you left off (defeated Elder and explored our 1st swamp). Think I'll now look into continuing.
James, first off, thank you. Your ASE and Subnautica videos were amazing, and your work continues to improve with this most recent video. Your delivery methods and style made me want even more; even after watching every second of this hour+ video. Also, as someone with 1000+ hours in Valheim, I wholeheartedly agree, it is a jewel. No spoilers, but I will say, since you said you hadn't played Mistlands yet, please know, it is more challenging than any content before it. Then Ashlands is harder still, than Mistlands. Lots of challenges await you, fellow viking! :) Please continue to take us on your journey! One note, if I may, I noticed you jumping around a lot in combat. The 'dodge roll' mechanic is the strongest mechanic in the game for avoiding damage. You can do it one of two ways. Either (Right click + [W or A or S or D] + SpaceBar) or, you can start with Shift (run) then the other 3 commands. Using shift in this case makes no difference in Stamina usage. Using whichever WASD you choose will determine the direction of the dodge roll. It uses around 16 stamina, and you have to have at least 16 stamina for it to trigger. Try it out, i'm sure you'll love it. It is absolutely game-changing. You can even roll towards monsters, including trolls, right as they are swinging, and still avoid all damage. It definitely is a timing thing to master though :) Good luck!!
Absolutely amazing video! i love valheim so i love content on it, but i noticed the thumbnail had a spelling mistake atleast i believe so i think it says valhime?
So, Eikthyr's power is one of the best in the game, and the Elder's power sucks. It is funny to listen to noobs give bad advice in these kinds of videos though.
Bruh. From what I heard at the beginning of the video you are back in the game because Valheim made an update to Ashlands. So I understand that you know a little about the game. So I guess you should know to “respect” stamina and not allow a situation like what happened in the 14:47...

You have a great style. Glad to see you’re still interested in posting. No worries about breaks. Post when you can, it’s always appreciated
Been waiting for this vid :D I love it... definitely want to see the next 100 days

Amazing video! Hope you go on with 200 days and more! :)
We need more! Glad to see new content James!
Great content. This game is best shown how the devs intended it to be played. There's so much story along the way to share with everyone.

Good building ideas. Thanks.
Great, i want to play Valheim again
Luckily, forest enemies won't attack untamed pigs, just tamed ones. Pigs in the process of being tamed will also be ignored.
Your voice makes me feel like im watching a documentary
YESSS YESSS I was waiting the tree death. 🙃
Brilliant 🤓!!!!!!!!!!!
Quality before bed, wind down vid🔥
I was hoping to see this game back on the channel
I MISS YOU JAMES COME BACK
Not using a mace against skeletons is hard to watch

Drove up some viewer interaction ig
