What I recall is that in the books those Stannis' lords were trying to marry her mainly to gain loyality of wildlings because she was sister of wife of the King beyond the wall - Mance (they were wrong, wildlings don't belive in this kind of heritage) her beauty was a nice addition
Yeah, alliance through a marriage in that way is certainly more southern Westerosi. They may gain allies of her particular clan of people, but not all of them.
Yeah, it's because she is considered royalty.
Yah that too but they wanted her cause she was fine like wine as well.
They mention many times that she is as beautiful as, if not more beautiful than, many of the southern women of royalty.
Nahh, they're talking all the time about her beauty

stannis basically offer jon more than ned ever had in his whole life

Jon was really contemplating on marrying Val.
He even said to himself that he would name his first born son Robb, but his heart was with the Nights Watch.
He decided against it for a few reasons.
And that was The Worst Mistske he would ever made in his life
Why Jon is so committed to the Watch? I know that he want a better situation for the Free folk too so why not just be took the fat opportunity to take the best of both worlds?

also in the books ghost totally adores Val and let's her pet him. I was like " yep Jon better marry this woman before the book ends"
Yeah, then there's the fact that Jon thinks that her and Ghost belong together at times.
@@jacklang3314 I'm sure for a fact that every single reader feels that val should be with jon. It literally seems that way. She's helping jon get wildling allies and is not afraid to get down and dirty I mean she's no proper lady but she can fight as well.

Bro I gotta read these books. They are vastly different from the show. 😂
For me it is another experience far better than show of course.
I usually hate reading but after watching the show I decided to try the books
so far I’m on the first book and it’s way better than the show because you get to read what the characters are thinking and everything is explained much better, there is different characters in the book that the show cut out, and a lot of people who died are still alive and in the first book it’s different from the show sometimes and the show is very different in the later books
Hi how many Books are there.
I would wait untill all are released. I have read them because I didn’t know that Martin is still writing
@@princesswilson5196 10 for now
Jon already "stole" Val when he protected her, Dalla & Mances son during Stannis' attack on the Wildling army 🤷♂️
Val could be his Visenya & Daenerys could be his Rhaenys 🤷🏾♀️❤️
Side note, you used absolutely beautiful art for this short, I ended up screenshoting a couple of them haha
Did you know that "Bride stealing" is a thing among Buryats (girl knows but parents don't). After "stealing" you invite her parents to the "home party" to reveal that it is a marriage and he is marrying their daughter.
Yeah, the Buryats are a subgroup of the Mongols who are well-known for Bride stealing. It's said that it is unknown whether Genghis Khan's first son and successor, Ögedei Khan is truly his son because Genghis Khan's wife was stolen for a period of time.
I really want to read the books but I know they will be amazing, and it will break my heart to wait possibly forever for a conclusion. I just can't put myself through that
It's worth it.
I've listened to the audio books countless times at work, it makes my days a little less boring
I’m on book 2 so far, not so far in and tbh I love to finish a whole series of books if I read them. And I can wait forever for the last two books… these will have me hooked for awhile. I already wanna go and reread the first cause I feel like I may have missed some clues and stuff for my own theories of where GRRM could be going based on how he writes. I say it’s def worth it to read them.
I feel like val is a much better match for jon than dany
You left out she's Mance's sister-in-law.
Stannis 'The Mannis' Baratheon always offers the best deals 😂
He takes "I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children" serious.
Stannis:"Jon please take Winterfell and this wonderful woman."
Jon:"Nuh Uh"
Val is scheming with Mance. She has feigned compliance to Stannis and somewhat led Jon on to gain a tactical advantage in the Free Folk’s struggle (against the Watch) for control of Castle Black and the Wall.
Only after she had opportunity to speak with Mance (who is skilled at scaling walls, so could visit her whenever he so desired without anyone else’s knowledge) did she agree to venture North of the Wall and treat with Tormund “on Jon’s behalf”.
Furthermore, Mance straight up told Jon that he was scheming (when they discussed him going to Winterfell to try and rescue “Arya”) and he missed it. This perhaps cost Jon his life.
Wait, didn't jon ask Val to treat with Tormund AFTER Mel sent Mance to Winterfell? And how could no one see some wildling climb the wall of the King's tower? And how does Val know about Rattleshirt being Mance? He would need to remove the glamour magic, and Mel is the only one to be able to do that no?
@@anormalperson7161
As Melisandre would say: “The night is Dark and full of terrors.” This terror was a skilled wildling climber shooting up a tower wall in light clothing (when most people were asleep).
Also, he’s removed the ruby by the time he turns up at Winterfell. If they were feigning subservience to Stannis, Mance likely made out the hold Mel had over him was stronger than it actually was. Jon himself observes that the glamour is largely just Rattleshirt’s garb (which could be removed).
Also, if Val doesn’t know that Mance is still alive (so hasn’t seen it with her own eyes), how does she convince Tormund to come to Castle Black?
As far as Tormund should be concerned, they burned the last King beyond the Wall and he’s now top of their hit list. If there’s a scheme in play, he is far more likely to bring the Wildling host to Castle Black.
I locket hope in the books done wildling becomes king of the 7 kingdoms and the screw o er all the others
@Rob T
Tormund saving his people from Others by treating with the lord commander of the night's watch isn't that far fetched, is it? Why must there be a deeper layer to every single decision made... But then again, 12 years of wait will do that to a fandom
@@anormalperson7161
Answer me this: Why does the word “Crow” appear in the “Bastard…” letter (and what is the significance of an exclusively Wildling word appearing in a letter purportedly written by Ramsey Snow) if Mance isn’t scheming?
ok bro, the artwork here is AMAZING
"I dun want it, Stannis. You're muh King"
Imagine having a king offer you a title, a castle, a hot wife and revenge on your families foes but you choose the frozen prison colony
Let's hope Jon reconsiders this offer after (or if) he's ressurrected in TWOW!
Which it piss me right off that cut this storyline out, what did did that they join the characters of Mother Mole and Val Wild-ling Princess!!!!. to the Chief Woman in the series.
Jon respects the first law of the bro code: "Bros before hoes."
We're in mourning for the plot. 😂
Stannis: offers Jon literally everything he could have possibly wanted and a legitimate means of claiming it.
Jon Snow: "I don't want it."
Sounds like show Jon...."I dont want it, I never did".

They are. Sometimes even too much so.
@@TheStraightestWhitest Well the book is written by a nerd who loves lore for nerds who love lore. There's no such thing as "too much info" for us lore loving nerds lmao. But for the casual readers it definitely could be a little much.
In theory, you’d think it’ll work, but Jon and Val will never work together. He wants a Lady, he wants to be a lord and he wants a traditional wife and kids, Val will never be that woman for Jon, she doesn’t want that life. And his “fantasy” about being married to Val were more tied to him being Lord of Winterfell (which he’s always wanted as a child because he wanted to be true born) not for anything about Val herself. Not to mention his honor, love for the Starks, and insecurities were always going to stop him from taking that deal. Because as he said, Winterfell belongs to Sansa.
Jon and Val had crazy chemistry to.

Not really, in terms of appearance she and Dany are very different. Val is described as having hair the colour of dark honey and eyes that at times look like either blue or pale grey.
@@henriquecesardesouzasilva8766 There are physical differences, I agree. But Val is written like Dany, is to be read like Dany. Val is always in white clothes which narratively serves the purpose of reminding us of Dany, who wears a white lion pelt often and has silver hair. Moreover both are sought after for political marriages and are remarked as beautiful because of it.

But in canon, Jon has been a man grown for a while now and as mentioned, was expected to rule Winterfell

Well somebody needs to continue it. That's fucked up. We've been robbed.
the woman you're showing DIED! then became a walker.
unpopular opinion: I'm not a fan of this couple and also of Val's character. not because I don't like her but she seems to be put there to play the cool and badass character (because she's beautiful and knows how to fight etc) but without having any real depth and she seemed like a character "already seen" in the book. another warrior girl, fierce and bold-talking. it would have been interesting to see a warrior girl who still loves the ways of ladies, introverted and shy. even her relationship with Jon doesn't convince me. I think Jon is attracted to her but I don't see anything else, knowing little about Val, it's difficult to see any depth in their relationship either. If I had seen a friendship in which they opened up more to each other and had a more mature bond, perhaps I would see it differently. But then I don't even see the point in putting her together with Jon. he has already been with a wildling girl and it has been seen that there are enormous cultural differences which then reflect on the couple. and Val is not shown to be that different from all the other wildling girls. at least she had been of the Thenn where they think a little differently or show Val as a different girl among the wildlings. What's the point of putting Jon with Val and then having him deal with the same issues he had with Ygritte? (and I'm not saying this because I don't see Jon and Daenerys together)
Val also said it would be easier for Jon to keep his vows after she gelds for trying to steal her so I don't get your point
What she meant was that she would geld him now in order to keep his vows if she wanted to.
Plus she said that as a joke
@DLR1997 women fighting the man is kind of the whole point of the wildling custom so no that's not true
@@alias9236LMAO Val is fond of Jon and there is a chance that he is a Mormont. Also, if I'm not wrong in one part, Val tells Jon that she wouldn't mind if he stole her, half joking and half sexual tension.
@FernandoAlvarez-hz6hb bruh how the fuck is he a Mormons I've never heard this theory, the wildling custom is for the woman to try to kill the one stealing them, if ygritte had a a chance to try to kill Jon she would have but she didn't get the chance to. I agree that they are flirting but that doesn't mean she'll just start a relationship like a kneeler
She will be his love interest in snow sequel
You do know that when Jon comes back heads are going to roll, right?
I think a resurrected Jon Snow (who will totally be a different, colder, and savage, person) will take winterfell and Marry Val. But i think itll be a loveless marriage, purley for an heir to winterfell, and wildling alliance. Prolly a similar relationship to Aegon & Visenya
Are we absolutely sure that Jon Snow is not Ned Starks son??? Because he certainly carries the major flaws like Ned, like insurmountable honor…
He lived with him all of his life; he could have learned that from him
@@DLR1997Not to mention he does have Stark blood in his veins. But who knows what sort of ruthless monster we'll get once he returns from the dead. Lol
Well because his real father was also a good man and was pretty honerable, Jon also has Stark blood in him, was raised by Ned himself because Cat was being herself
That would be awesome if he got to marry
