Electric Trunk Release 1957 Thunderbird

Couldn't find a kit that was specifically for the 1957 Thunderbird so made my own from a bicycle cable shifter kit ($10 Amazon), a trunk release solenoid from a 90's GM and custom bracket. I think any universal trunk release solenoid would work and maybe the cable that comes with it would also work but you'd need to get the outer casing somewhere (it comes in the bicycle kit). Couldn't find a store bought cable end retainer so had to make one from a cable ferrule. Important to grind down the cable nib to make sure it won't rub. Thread the cable turn the same hole the link rod to the factory key release connects to. Not obvious in the video but after putting the home made cross bracket in I bent/rotated it a bit to make the cable "flow" more of an arc as it enters the top of the big hole and goes down to the latch release arm.
