Why do you need relay for the installation? The entry module should have a trunk release wire which will send 12v to the trunk lock actuator when you press trunk release button?
That wire was a constant on my entry module, so if I hooked it up direct it would constantly try to open the trunk, so the relay is there to cut the power until I press the button on the remote.
do we need relay if we are connecting this to security system ?
You most likely would still need one, unless your security system has one built in. Because other wise if you wire up this circuit with no relay. It will be continually open, or closed.
But you need the circuit to always be open, but have a switch(relay) to stop it until the switch is triggered.
I hope this makes sense.
The light red wire that you cut, to connect it to the new red wire, where was it connected? What did you leave disconnected?
It’s been a while since I did this install, but I am pretty sure I just tapped into the positive and negative from the original trunk release. And then the one I left disconnected was the OEM plug to unlatch the trunk. And spliced in the wire to the new keyless entry module.

This might be a stupid question but how did you take apart the plastic panels?
Some might have some screws, while other just snap in and you just have to pull on them. And hope you don’t break the clips.

It sounds like you might be tapped into the wrong wire. Seems like you are tapped into the unlock wire. And not a trunk release wire.

Another question would be did you change out the actuator for the trunk? Because if you don’t have an actuator, the trunk won’t release.

I would just try to add the relay, because when I tried to wire it to the first time my self I couldn’t get it to work properly, so I installed the relay and it’s been working good!
First of all i want remort trunk release function for my car. Currently i have 2 keys only in my remort to just door lock unlock. No keys for trunk release. Can u give me some idea, what i have to do.
Well on my car I didn’t have any keyless entry, so I added a keyless lock system on my car, and it came with a trunk release, so that’s how I got it. I’m not sure why you don’t have the trunk release when you have the electronic locks.

I want to ask if i replace with 3 pin system door actuator removing the current one and program a new remort key which has trunk release button, my problem will be solved?
I’m not sure if they would work or not, because when I did it to my car, I didn’t even have electronic locks, but maybe if you add the actuator with 3 pins and reprogram your remote it might work,
I would really love to install this power trunk actuator on my 2008 toyota Corolla but my Toyota Corolla key doesn't have trunk opening button. How do I go about it please? Also, how do I connect the really to the power door switch?
You will need to install an electronic lock system. That’s what I did on my 2009. Here is a video of me installing the door lock. And this also comes with the trunk release. And I’m pretty sure you can just do the trunk release without the locks.

My car already has factory installed electronic door lock system but the key has no trunk release button. How do I connect the trunk actuator to the electronic door system to open the trunk using the relay you talked about. Thanks
Also, the actuator with three pin is exactly what's in my car too but I don't know why it's not connected from the factory. Please Do u know the location of the factory door lock/trunk release module for Toyota Corolla
I do not know the location of the door lock module, maybe all you need to do is get a remote with the trunk release and just program it to your car.
