being a complete novice I noticed doing this did increase accuracy , I noticed pellets are slightly different sizes and a little prod to seat the pellet made for better accuracy , i'm using a mint condition old Webley hurricane with superdome .22 pellets and bisley wasps
I'm a hand loader from way back in benchrest shooter just getting into air guns again just picked up a Benjamin Prowler nice rifle entrance level rifle that makes sense with the pellet I've been thinking about that you want to touch the lands for the most accuracy just like a 22 Centerfire rifle my Prowler is 22 cal thanks for the advice makes a lot of sense have a great day shooting bang bang bang he he he
Most quality rifles have a chamfer to seat pellet correctly, and there are test's which say further pushing into barrel makes no difference. I tried this on my hw95ks and tx200hc and it made no difference too. Jmo
Nice review boss. I seen on you tube videos both ways. Worked and didn't work. Some professionals say it doesn't really matter. I tried it in 3 different company's air rifles and I did not see any improvement by seating in the projectile.some of the ammo wasn't all the same exact size which is common in pellets. Now, I do have pcp air rifles and they all seat the projectiles in the breech where they push them in and stop to. PCP air rifles seat the projectiles and are superior in accuracy! So I don't know boss. I gues what works for one person may not for someone else.Good luck and happy airgunning! Ed The Professional Backyard Sniper Man😂✌
It was based on experience reloading centerfire ammo, where seating depth does play a role. But that punch was a crude method. PCP surely better but also a bunch of money :)
@@tangobayus the beeman chief 2 and the beeman commander pcp's can be had for around $200! Great qauality and unsurpassed accuracy! Will hang with top quality exspensive pcp's! Hands down. Now go get yourself one. Ed the backyard sniper man😂👍
@@tangobayus yes, they are good out of the box. As any pcp, you can make your own modifications. They are mildly ajustable as they are. I have them both and 50 yard shots are nothing. The .22 cal is doable out to 100 yards. Of course with a decent scope. I use Barsca, leapers, Centerpoint and CV Life. 4-16× 44 or 40. You have to take off the ajustable sight ramp off the barrel. Easy work. Trust me, you will set aside your break barrels for a rest! Lol I put mine against any exspensive pcp to a $2000 pcp! @@eddiecahall3824 The other thing is pellets. When I got the .22 Gamo I got some Crossman pellets. They were terrible in terms of consistent size. Now I use RWS round nose. They cost almost as much as .22 LR but are very consistent.
It's all about are you using right pellet and how you hold rifle and pull the trigger . My Hatsan loves H&N 4.50mm and 4.51mm , Gamos nooo way , and I shoot 1cm groups at 25 meters with ease
I have a question. I got a air venruti pellet pen. The skirt of my pellets are too big and I have to use alot of force to seat the skirt in. What do I do?
I had some Benjamin pellets in .22 that varied a lot and were often too big. My answer was to switch to RWS pellets which cost more but are much more consistent. Superpoint in .177 and Superdome in .22.
Spot on you still have to play with it but most at least German manufactures suggest 2mm It’s weird when you look at the cheap US market Chinese market there’s nothing in a manual about that but when you get to the quality market German there’s a whole page on that in the manual great post
not sure if you will get better groups or not but velocity went down 221 fps by using his method. by seating the pellet flush with the end of the pellet reciever creates a tight air seal which is good. by pushing it in like this is not god for you air rifle. also could damage the piston because you "half way dry firing it".
Airgun tv is the channel going back and looking he seated it really low and the rifling deformed the skirt. Yours doesn't look to do that it looked more like his ball bearing tool he used
Not precisely. Do you have a link to those videos? I have seen pellet holders that have a little nub for seating. Check this: ruclips.net/video/nFudoqwsJbc/видео.html I think the method I was using was not very precise, relying on feel as the pellet contacted the rifling.
I do it All the time,I use special bamboo skewer and every 10 shoots I diesel it,you get about 30% more punching power and don't worry 😉 your rifle is not going to turn into flames 🔥 but it might become laser 😂...
I do this & it DOES improve consistency. Thanks for bringing it up.
Beeman made a tool called the Pellseat. It had a ball end and the other side was a rounded point. Used one for decades.

Yes it's not worth the time for minimal gains
Great Video and a an awesome "Tutorial " I truly believe that this will improve my shoot group accuracy. Thanks for your help.

I think the RWS pellets are more consistent than the Beeman, which were terrible. I personally don't have much reason to pay for match grade pellets.

there's a video on the tube which after tests suggests this makes no difference in accuracy.
I know this is old but, the video you were watching was with a fellow from the UK and he was seating his pellets wrong

Interesting concept. The method you described... is this your opinion, or have you actually did some test fire groups with different seating depths?
It's more theoretical but based on previous experience with reloading centerfire ammo.

good info. not ts sure about possible damage to the piston.
Losing 221 fps is a very detrimental side effect!
If you push too far you loose velocity. The guns push is enhanced by the resistance the pellet has at the commensmest of the power stroke.
Just enough to contact the lands consistently.
Just use pointed q tips to push the pellets.
Airgun tv is the channel going back and looking he seated it really low and the rifling deformed the skirt. Yours doesn't look to do that it looked more like his ball bearing tool he used
Show us the difference
There is no difference , in fact , some pellets don't like being seated like this at all
U don't push it in less air pressure.
The point is to have consistent seating depth. When you reload firearms ammo seating depth is regulated down to .001 inches.
Have you tested this? I've watched videos testing this and it makes accuracy worse.
Not precisely. Do you have a link to those videos? I have seen pellet holders that have a little nub for seating. Check this: ruclips.net/video/nFudoqwsJbc/видео.html

It will blow out your seals sooner than normal. Unless u like buying new weapons every year, I'd stop
Fact it only works for certain guns and certain type of pellets this does not work for everyone
Where is test, this is just story......
and ten minutes later you get to take a shot , boring :-)
It doesn't take that long. Pellet seaters are a common tool.
What's are pellet seaters?
