I admire it when people have the balls to paint a room black. It's dramatic but at the same time intimate. Having a lot of windows in the room helps, of course. I wouldn't try it in my own under-windowed dining space.
I do too and this example couldn't be more successful!!
I adore my black lacquered library. I had the floors painted white though. I saw it in Windsor Smith's home - and went there with the black!
You probably need a passion for _dusting_ in a room covered in lacquered black. I adore the look, but we have a cat. And dusting is a duty but not a pleasure to me. ;-)

I am in love with this family and how beautifully they live and especially how they treat their guests during dinner parties. We are known for our dinners...using place cards may sound a bit too formal,.but it is useful that guests have the opportunity to meet and learn something new and is seated next to someone they didnt arrive with...😘😎🛍🛍🛍🎶🎼🥁I am obsessed with the salon and dining rooms... 😘😘

As some of the other viewers mentioned as well, I was also very excited to see a new quintessence video. This home is stunning. I am not a fan of too much color in a home but after seeing this video I am changing my opinion. Every room in this home is simply breathtaking. I love the yellow room; (what a gorgeous yellow) but my goodness the black dining room is so sophisticated and elegant looking. I also put postcards or beautiful pictures in my mirror. My grandmother used to do it and I have taken this habit from her. The placecards the owners use for their gorgeous table decorations are really unique. I noticed some lovely china on the table. There is such a lovely cozyness about this home. Vibrant colors combined with beautiful artwork and antique furniture. I loved the kitchen as well and the fact there is a large table in it to sit at. And what a beautiful garden it seems to be. Thank you for this lovely video.

I love the exterior color of the home. The laquer room is wonderful, all the mirrors reflecting the light from the windows keeps it interesting during the day. Macarons!

What a gorgeous home.In the early 80s ,I painted my ceiling blue and my boyfriend put up those glow in the dark planets!!I had forgotten about it .We loved it.😀
I used to live up by the Capital Region (to be specific Saratoga County) and would drive into Columbia County on the weekends. I would occasionally visit the horse country around the Old Chatham. It’s an absolutely beautiful and peaceful area.

I love older homes that have separate distinctive rooms. I really dislike open floor plans . It is so sad to see historic homes gutted , then reconstructed to accommodate the latest architectural fade. This is why I enjoy and am inspired by Quintessence.
