    I appreciate your rant on the 5N, cuz reviewers who are stuck on gas cars are super biased and just genuinely seem to lie or spread lies about EVs that they've heard elsewhere. (EDIT: After watching this video, I had the real video from "The Channel" suggested to me, making me realize that the other "gimmick" video I had watched was probably not the one Adam is referring to. And the actual video from "The Channel", I actually feel like I agree with, to a degree.)
    Cuz here's the thing, the Ioniq 5N is absolutely a gimmick and bad, but only compared to other EVs. For some reason, it has been getting heaps of praise over other EVs, but I don't see why. It has an 84kWh battery, is rated for only 221 miles of range, and does 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, according to Hyundai. All for a starting price of $67.5k USD. But the big thing everyone raves about the stupid "manual mode" that simulates driving an ICE. It's dumb and literally a gimmick. It serves no real purpose, and actually lowers the efficiency of an already TERRIBLY inefficient EV. (EPA estimated 72 MPGe, very similar to the 70 MPGe of the Rivian R1T Quad, you know, the 8,500lb, 1000hp truck)
    Compare it to a Tesla Model Y performance (75 kWh battery, 0-60 in 3.5secs, estimated range of 285mi) and it gets blown out of the water in basically every category all while starting for $12k less than a 5N. Same with the Mustang Mach-E GT that was just released. (280mi of range from 84kWh battery, 0-60 in 3.3secs, starting price of $55k) Hell, if you can afford the Ioniq 5N, you might as buck up another 4 or 5k and buy the base model Tesla Model S and have 400mi of estimated range and 0-60 in 3.1 seconds.
    And to top it all off, every other EV on this list has power seats.
    To sum it up, the Hyundai Ioniq 5N is absolute trash and I *really* don't understand the praise it gets.

      If you want pure speed, and acceleration is the only measure, then you’re absolutely right. Have you ridden in it? It’s fun. It feels like it’s a gas car. Stomp the accelerator in an expensive Tesla, that’s fun, but in 3 seconds, you’re going 60. In the 5N, 0-20 is fun, “engine braking” is fun. The gurgling is fun. The fact that it isn’t real means there are no consequences for the fun. In Eco Mode the 5N would easily get 250-270 miles of range just like the Ioniq 5. It’s rated for 200 because the EPA based the rating on its least efficient mode. That’s the rule now. The 5N is a loud, gurgling turbo car, an EV with top tenth percentile speed, a track car with infinite customization, and everything in between. I made a video about it too. ruclips.net/video/sLESDL-ocyM/видео.htmlsi=iNbQG8-JwpixE9Pu

      @@Aslash304 I did watch your review, and while I'm certainly not gonna poo-poo anyone liking it, I just really still don't get it. I drove manuals my whole life until I got my EV earlier this year, so I understand the fun of shifting and the vroom vroom. But those are fun in a manual car *because* they are what makes the car go fast, not despite it.
      A fake manual mode and noise in an EV is as useful as a burrito that plays Despacito while you eat it. It functionally adds nothing, and the noise is annoying to more people than enjoy it.
      Plus, this particular singing burrito costs 12 grand more than the bigger, quieter burrito.

      @@Ryctor07 In my video, I ask the viewer not to judge before driving it. if you have driven or ridden in this car, and after experiencing the manual shifting, can conclusively say that it adds nothing, and the it’s not fast enough with manual mode on (it’s still faster than 95% of all cars in manual mode), then you’re absolutely right. 14:03 - We have OCPP here in europe as the backbone of everything. Our charger connects via WLAN to the OCPP manager running on a pi zero which is only doing 1 things: charging the car only from surplus energy from the solar power system to avoid grid
    OCPP Software is called evcc for surplus charging of the car or battery and in future also running the heatpump with surplus.
    Grid is 0,33$ per kWh here while feeding brings you roughly 0,09$ so it is quite a differen by average, but with dynamic pricing every hour differently and with a 1 day notice in advance things are more important to charge surplus when the sun is visible cause in around 6 pm the aver 0,33 can increase up to 0,70$ and then you make 0,60$ per kWh by avoiding these hours for drawing power from the grid.

The J01 electric 2 door won’t come to you for at least 3 years as they are built in China although EU tariffs have caused BMW to bring forward the upgrade of the Oxford plant to build the electric versions. Presently the gas versions are built in the UK but are the new style body mounted on the old chassis. The EV version of the hatch are on a totally new design of underpinnings designed in a joint venture with Great Wall Motors (they make their own version called the Ora 3 in Europe or the Funky Cat in China but it’s not a big seller here. ) . Mine has AWD / dual motors and 308bhp with a 64kWh usable NMC chemistry battery. It’s a bit thirsty at highway speeds but I squeezed 3.4miles/kWh at 70mph+ on a streaming wet and windy day over a 124 miles run when I left home charged to 100% and arrived with 50% SOC 124 miles later. Over the summer on local roads I’ve been averaging 4.2- 4.6m/kWh at 50mph but now colder days are here I’m seeing more in the region of 3.4-3.6 m/kWh. Charging speed is 150kW which it holds from about 5% through to 48% then slowly ramps down. It’s very comfortable and very quiet even at speed. Mine even has semi-autonomous driving which is very nice- FSD in any form isn’t permitted here yet. Bjorn Nyland (TeslaBjorn) recently did a series of tests on one the same spec as mine including his 1000km run. The U25 Countryman is 5” longer than my 2023 Land Rover Defender - that shows how mini it isn’t!

      Thanks for the feedback. I sincerely appreciate your point of view, and it’s extremely helpful to know how others are thinking. I love CarPlay as well. However, Because of costs, even Legacy OEMs are dropping CarPlay. I’m thinking $100 a month for CarPlay if the FOA actually wanted to make it happen. And that’s just for the subscription. It would likely be double digit millions to program the hardware to support it. So, like $500 a month? The FOA has officially communicated that CarPlay is off the table, so it’s inevitably a non-Starter, but I think $16 a month for one year is better than a 17” screen that can’t find a charger or reroute if there’s an accident. Miss one flight because the NAV system didn’t reroute, and the Cost/Benefit scale sways quickly. Thanks again for sharing!

      Dont even get me started on how poor the functionality of the stereo/entertainment system on my FOO is. I cant even fade/balance the sound and if you pop out of the car for 5 minutes and make the mistake of locking the car, you have to go through the whole process of selecting what medium (TuneIn-another POS), Spotify, IHeart (really???) FM only radio (with NO ABILITY to search up and down the dial by simply pressing an arrow as it only selects presets) and last but not least, Bluetooth that compresses the shit out of your music and turns a 600w 15 speaker system essentially into the sound quality of an Amazon echo dot.)

    In the video you're talking about, It seems to me that the one guy views himself as such an ICE purist / racer, that he has to loathe all the N features on principle. I've said it many times - whoever discounts or ignores the Ioniq 5 N - it's their loss. But you get the feeling that he would secretly buy one and keep it hidden from everyone.
    I was so dead set against fake noise or shifting in an EV. Those were my EV "purist" feelings. When i actually drove the car, my feelings did not get hurt.. they disappeared as if they never existed. The Hyundai team responsible for this car is a collective genius. Hi Adam and thanks for the Fisker info as always. I wanted to respond to your comment about paying a monthly fee to have Tom Tom and should the FOA have required this from the beginning. My honest response is absolutely not. I’m very happy they haven’t. I don’t use my Tom Tom be sure it’s horrible. Sends me to wrong streets, takes me longer routes etc. I have been using Google Maps since day 1 of getting my car and have zero interest in paying for a horrible navigation platform. Frankly I thought they had gone out of business years ago. Haven’t heard their name in years until the Ocean. I would much rather have the FOA work towards getting us Apple Car Play and Android Auto so that e can use whatever platform we like individually.

    • @Aslash304
      @Aslash304  2 дня назад

      I understand the frustration. Apple CarPlay has already been explicitly ruled out by the FOA, and while Android Auto would be nice, we don’t know if the hardware will interface with it. Millions of dollars worth of software programming may be needed, even before a license. The screen hardware is a TomTom system.

    Thanks for the very thorough examination of EV bric-a-brac, Adam! Haven’t bought or had a car in years, don’t have one, don’t ever know if I will ever open the wallet and spring for an automobile.
    The two EVs I really like are the Polestar 2 and Rivian R3. Sandy Munro has examined the quality of Both Polestar2 and Rivian R3. My biggest concern is that a disastrous fire in an EV can damage everything around it. But I wouldn’t buy an ICE vehicle. If better EV battery tech adopted solid state, that would eliminate the fire risk(is that true?)
    Fisker had an unconsolidated subsidiary, the Austrian component, so the SEC is involved because those records aren’t public, but are a requirement to be kept in case an indictment is filed. Retained earnings, or accumulated deficit is held at this portion of the company. This asset remains with the company in an exit.(I know - company goes poof)
    In a liquidation, an auction takes place where participants with legal claims can foreclose on the assets.(same as foreclosure in real estate). This is when the company goes ‘poof’
    Yes, the shares are extinguished. SEC says this about bankruptcy in their bankruptcy article. So heads up, the ticker ‘FRSNQ’ is meant to be extinguished, regardless.
    However, an interested party may ‘grubstake’ the company. I use ‘grubstake’ because ppl don’t like ‘stalking horse bid’. A very legal and very possibly private bid can be made, where a company can go public DURING the auction process.
    Grubstake is pretty down to earth, if you don’t get lofty abstract term like stalking horse bid. The change in ticker is essential here.
    Over to you!

    • @Aslash304
      @Aslash304  2 дня назад

      I appreciate the information. Very helpful explanation. I think there will be interest in the “guts” of the company. And there will most definitely be an auction (in Austria, there’s nothing to sell in the US, imo). Heights gets the IP, the liquidating trust gets the proceeds from the fleet sale (minus all the court, tax and admin costs), and the Austrian thing is too complex for me to understand other than the proceeds of the Auctions also go to heights. Since, in my opinion ( and feel free to correct me if I’m wrong ) there’s nothing to auction in the US, I don’t know what a stalking horse bid would represent the purchase of. But, I’ll admit I’m not experienced in this kind of thing.

    • @effingsix3825
      @effingsix3825 2 дня назад

      @@Aslash304 Doesn’t look like any assets of value remain in the U.S., certainly not looking at those photos.
      A stalking horse bid is like a contractual obligation that MUST be agreed to if all of the claims in the liquidation of assets are satisfied. This bid wins the auction, (and it might mean hundreds of millions up front) unless somebody makes a better offer in a counterclaim. A grubstake is more up-front, where somebody fronts some cash to the hole in the ground with a liar up at the top. But it IS ‘down and dirty’
      A bid during the auction with a contractual obligation can last for years while a grubstake is immediate.

    I know you want comments so here you go: are you suggesting now owners must pay all Fisker bills? Enjoy the comment 😊
    FOA should find the best solutions for owners and not having live data on the gps for sometime is better than spending 200 euros. Also why don’t you include american lease? They can also pay Tom Tom just because (same reason as for the owners paying for Fisker’s bills)

      Great Feedback: Here’s are some reasons I addressed this: Have you ever driven to an out of service charger because you didn’t use the integrated route planning? Or Have you ever encountered a horrible traffic jam because you didn’t use GPS? I didn’t come up with the $600,000 figure. But I know what the alternatives are for people who actually use the Ocean as a Car. I simply calculate the cost to completely eliminate the concern for people who are currently relying on the features that are being discontinued. Great point with American Lease. Why didn’t the FOA include American Lease? If the cost was split 50/50, that’s $8.50 a month for live traffic data. I’m just attempting to explore alternatives other than loss of functionality. How much is live traffic data and functional route planning worth to someone with a 60 mile commute? The whole point of the FOA is to reduce costs through scale and negotiation (unless I misunderstand the mission). The lawyers cost a lot of money, but there was a significant benefit from it. Why not look at continuity of functionality this way? I’m sure they could have negotiated a better rate in the future by making it right with TomTom in the present. There’s no promise TomTom will negotiate with the FOA without paying this $600,000. It just makes every Ocean one step closer to a Brick. And if spending money to fix issues is not the preference, why join the FOA? Thank you so much for your feedback. I appreciate your point of view and I believe it is the reason the FOA chose loss of Functionality over a solution.

      @@Aslash304if you have had to rely on the TomTom route planning and charging stop location features, you would realize that even $.01 /mo is grossly overpriced.

      @@memyselfundeye I have, and I Agree. Ocean owners are going to have Uber driver setups now. No live traffic makes it a little harder for owners to tell me they “don’t have any issues,” while their iPhone navigates them to their destination with no charging recommendations while attached to the massive, and yet completely useless for driving, 17” screen.
