    During this epidemic and stay at home, countless hours on computer, most had watched the video from Pawn Stars of the 1922 high relief and had people scrambling to check out the Peace Dollars... just my opinion, but most likely what has added to the frenzy.

      Yes I think it was a proof as well on pawn stars they have that video on RUclips as well. It is a short video with them just doing the coin part. I think it is funny I see stuff on eBay that is not listed or priced right. I do not know if they are trying to get over on people or they do not know what they are talking about. Probably there are two differnt groups doing it.

    Daniel, very good job on this. When I read what was given for the "reasons", all I could think of was "When does this seller get beamed up to the mother ship?" The explanations, of why selling (lottery, cancer survivor, etc) were spot on. You offered good, straightforward advice. And a healthy dose of common sense. Well done and thank you.

    Rick on Pawn stars bought one of these for 80k. It was a 1922 proof high relief peace dollar. It was graded by NGC at I think PF 61. It was a beautiful coin. The guy that brought it in said he won it in a poker game. Also I heard a story that the way a few of these got out is they gave some to a few members of Congress to have and told them these are the now silver dollars and then they had trouble making them and they tried to get them back but couldn’t recover them all.

But it's the gamble of the game and as long as I don't get completely robbed i"m happy with my choices so far. Knowledge is everything and leaning from mistakes makes a difference in future purchases. :) GL & HH

    This type of stuff is unreal. If a seller has that so called rare coin, you can bet they would send it in for certification. They don't want to take a chance of loosing money on it. I am sure there is some cherry picking at times with coins on eBay. I also know there are many quality collectors looking on eBay daily. Chances of that rare coin falling to you at in incredible price on eBay, is mostly a pipe dream. It's not really different then most scams out there. eBay has helped the coin community but at the sametime it hurts it too. Lately I have seen some sellers just throw out a huge number on common items and see what sticks. I have collected for over 20 years and always bought my keys and semi keys as graded by PCGS/NGC or from a reputable dealer that I can actually hold in hand. The losses you will accumulate thinking your bargain cherry picking key dates will put you in the hole quickly. So why even chance it??

    Random question about foreign gold - would you recommend taking advantage of lower premiums on foreign gold coins as an alternative to US gold, like Mexican for example? I'm just wondering if foreign gold will be easy to sell, and if dealers will normally pay less for it relative to spot price.

    i am a huge Peace dollar guy! and this guy's post made me upset, disgusted and sad all at once....i have a nice collection of peace dollars i want a couple hundred at least before i am gone... and i have the 4 th Edition guide of peace dollars and their so few Matte proof's made in 21' i believe it was like6-10 sand blasted and 5+ Satin and the 22' is like 12-20 sand blasted i think 1 Satin made and most of those are said to have been rejected or given to higher ups probably never to be seen or where melted shortly after the mint director seen them who knows what?...if i remember correctly those where mostly just to give to people like the mint director etc. and the circulation strike high relief was an experiment weakly struck with incomplete hair.......and the low relief 22' satin proof sold to Ambrose Swasey.... i have to go back and look it up... it was something like that .... the one that guy posted.... this blurry pic...it just looks like a normal circulation low relief ( and one High Relief circulation strike was found in 2007 ...22'' high relief satin is questionable) its almost IMPOSSIBLE THAT THIS GUY EVEN KNOWS WHAT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE high relief peace dollar,(medium experiment that was melted like this guys mental state) and a low relief peace dollar??? and all those other ''high end'' coins?????WTH KINDA DRUGS IS THIS GUY ON. ... Anyone can post a circulated 1976 quarter and say it is worth thousand's of DOLLAR'S LOL. because he found it in a safe or a peace dollar! cause my Father owned IS. So it's worth 50K or whatever he said? i mean these type of guy's are making people hate collecting. if someone has money to spend thinks this guy knows what he is talking about gives him thousand's and one day they go to there local coin shop and say i have a Peace dollar worth thousand's and the Dealer says i will give you 28-30 dollars max...this person is gonna feel stupid.

    It's coincidental that you made a video about this. I have a eBay seller that advertised a 1877, Proof Seated Liberty half dollar,(510 minted), I paid 600 bucks, it's not a proof and it has been cleaned. Also had a scratch on the reverse someone has tryed to sand or something to make it blend. The pictures with really bright light don't show that. I'm trying to get a refund. Good advice. I'm disappointed in eBay that let seller's advertising things that are not what they say.

For me one area you can tell is the spikes on tiera, mine are more slender, there are more fine details like in the hair. Now that I have been comparing to pictures, I actually think the low reliefs look better, just personal opinion. Mine are circulated, but, stil very nice. I might hacve them graded. Honest to god I think I have a 1922 low relief matte peace dollar. I have a pretty sizeable collection that is split into two between my circulated coins and my uncirculated coins and currency. In that I have three 1922 Peace Dollars, the first two are beautiful and at least AU or UNC but nothing special but the third is notably different. It has that matte finish but isn't a high relief, I didn't think much of it until finding out that the mint made high and low relief 1922s, I swear the coin doesn't look cleaned or tampered with. I could provide photos for proof but I'm honestly not sure what the next moves are. If it is I would like to know but selling it lowkey scares me because I've had it for so long. I can look at them but if you think they're 1922 High Reliefs then I would not be interested unless they're graded as such. Sorry.

    • @CoinHELPu

      No I do not and if it ever did it would be based on paper trading because there's not enough physical silver to put it to those highs.

    I have seven 1922 peace dollars, two from Philly, one from SF and 4 from Denver, they were from my grandfather's collection (no, I don't have cancer and didn't win the lotto...hehehe) I was wondering if anyone knows a trusted place to get these verified. I can't believe they are counterfeit cause they have been in a bag, in a closet for close to four decades, but one never knows, the weights check out but I want to be 100% sure. Thanx, blessings to you.

    If it was really a proof matte finish, then it should be FULLY struck…most high relief peace dollars are understruck because they had so much trouble with the silver flow. Most have varying degrees of flatness over her ear.

      I still can’t get over how massively I was outbid on a RAW 1928-P. It was a nice coin, but I sure couldn’t imagine that anyone would bid $1600 on a raw 1928 peace dollar.

    • @_CYB0RG_
      @_CYB0RG_ 7 месяцев назад

      I think it’s an awfully risky game to jump in on a RAW coin and place that high of a bid without physically inspecting the coin in person. The people that jumped in at the last second and bid in excess of $1500, ALL had no more than 22 purchases in their eBay history. I can’t help but think that some rich kid has decided he is a coin collector and is using ‘Daddy’s’ credit card to make outrageous bids on everything he buys. I looked into his overall bidding history and it told an interesting story. Out of nearly every coin he has won at auction, he won with 1 bid. So basically, he is running around looking for auctions that are in the final moments before ending, and then he snipes the coin out from under everyone by bidding outrageous amounts. That strategy may work for him short term but eventually he will be joined by others just like him and wind up paying a heckuva lot more than the coin will be worth 50 years from now.

    Daniel, you should just tell everyone that thinks they have a high relief 22 peace dollar about the longer sunray coming out of the word "one". That should tell people definitely if they have it and it's easy to locate.

      Is this ray protruding past the N? On of my 22s looks much different than the rest of mine. Ddo, double date, and triple leaves as well. It has a slight gold or bronze color to It. It looks circulated, but not really if that makes sense. I picked it out of a bag of silver dollars in Delaware.
