I'd like to see a video on the some of the more reasonable but off-beat gambits please! Like the Benko, Albin-counter gambit or the nutty Taxler! Thanks - and thanks for all your videos!
Personal preference for offbeat openings - the sort you'd only consider in blitz/bullet. Most of the top, top openings we see a lot during your videos anyway and you're great at reiterating what each colour is trying to do with each move. But to give an example of one that sort of fits into this category, I know that Jan is or was a fan of the Old Benoni in shorter time formats.
I read it back in my chess club days. It truly is a masterful work. And the poem written to Morphy on the first page (".. the name rings like a bell in the Halls of Chess..") is beautiful.
#suggestion I don't have a particular opening to suggest, but think it's a great idea if you could approach the opening from a "bigger picture" perspective. Many opening studies simply focus on details of all the many lines and theory moves/responses, rather than broad ideas like what each side is hoping to achieve. Starting with a more basic overview of what "defines" that opening and why someone would prefer it (tactical vs positional, how sharp, attacking vs defensive, long term ideas) will be more informative to a wider range of players, especially beginners. Then progress to specific lines and variations afterward to get more advanced. I've found that these sort of big picture ideas are often ignored and discussions dive right into the details and long theory lines, feels more like pure memorization than appreciating what makes a particular opening unique and how to approach the thought process.
#suggestion gambit openings would be a good idea. For example, if you choose the Evans Gambit, you can talk about how to treat it with both white and black pieces.
#suggestion I’ve been waiting for a video of openings, maybe explaining the reason behind them and how they are used situationally, one opening Id like to see in that video would be maybe the French defense? Hopefully you see this, really looking foreword to this video!

if you start doing opening videos, I think it’s only fair for you to start with one of your favorites! the Evans gambit (obvi) or maybe the Modern Benoni? #suggestion #opening
thanks, you explain these games so beautifully. Let me ask a general question, relating to a position that came up in this game. We know that early in a game with a crowded board the knight is more valuable than the bishop, but in the end game the bishop is far more valuable than the knight. Isn't it better to trade knight for bishop early, giving up the early advantage for the sake of the end game? Theoretically, it sounds advisable. I personally do the opposite, because Stockfish is so devastating to me with its knights that my priority is to take them off the board by any means necessary. I do everything possible to force a trade of all knights in the opening moves, but if I can force Stockfish to do that I'm reluctantly willing to give up my bishop to get the off the board. But between two masterful humans, isn't it better to grab a bishop for a knight any chance you can?
Your questions show how just complex chess is. It really depends on the opening and the current position. In general grandmasters like the bishop pair because they are more mobile and covers more squares compared to the knight. Of course, bishops can not protect each other as the knights can. It really depends on how active that piece is and how much potential of activity that piece has later in the game. So your question- should you trade your knight for a bishop early. I use to think this way when I was first learning chess, but chess is more complex than that. If the position goes to the end game with few pieces than theoretically yes since most end games positions favor the bishops. However, it depends on the position of course- pawn structure, how active your pieces are and so on. For me I ask my self before I trade pieces - how active is my piece? Have I squeezed all of the value of this piece that I can or can I put it on a better square? Is this piece blocking any activity of my opponents pieces.
opening #suggestion: some gambit lines of the scotch(i really like the double pawn or the haxo gambit), an aggresive english line or smith morra gambit/morphy gambit
WARNING! With April Fools Day fast approaching, I heard someone's starting a Kickstarter to raise money for Agadmator to remove his mole. Don't believe it, it's FAKE!! (The Kickstarter, not the mole.)
That style alternating white black makes sense if you consider games as a pair of black and white, then a pair of black and white. The first pair you have the advantage because you have a chance to win, if you win, you can play as black for the draw. But then your opponent gets a chance to win, and if he wins he can play for the draw. So alternating pair with each getting a turn to have a slight advantage.
I would suggest the main common openings that's Ruy lopez, Queen's gambit declined, Najdorf Sicilian, The Italian game And the main Gambits especially our favorite "Evan's gambit"
Same over here if its Morphy I immediately press the like button but this was a normal game Morphy is very cautious wary of his opponent hand to Paulsen he is not the swashbuckling cavalier type but a quiet developer like keres may be may be I'm wrong but that's mho thks

I know its not a sags, but you can go to playlist and choose a oppening you like and just start grinding the videos :)
This would be great; to see the pros and cons of lots of different openings would be awesome.
Nice idea!
“We have a fight” sounds like something Agadmator would say when he sees someone else open a RUclips video with the words “hello everyone!”
If you watch idubbz's new video thats exactly his intro which was weird.
Paullox well then I guess we have a fight
Daily dose od internet uses it as well xd
I'm here for my daily dose of disgusting engine lines
You kind sir, made my day.
I heard that Kevin Spraggett has some disgusting α-zero lines bordering on scat.
That's Morphy lines
Not today! lol
I personally think that Paulsen deserves a little more fame than he has. He has to be one of the strongest players in the world, in 1857.
yes he was.
He did get some recognition. The Paulsen Sicilian is after all named after him.
@@pfsloan2597 I just read that he invented the Dragon, wow.
He's lucky he had someone like Morphy to play.
If I lived in a time where I could force every opponent to lay me 8:1 time odds, I'd look pretty strong too.

I love Morphy, but this was amazing.
It humanizes Morphy a lot more.
Paulson has become one of my favorite players after watching him hold his own against Morphy.
To be fair, it was said he would spend an hour per move, if I had a 7:1 time advantage to my opponent, I'd look pretty good myself
If I was playing black I would have resigned . Looks like I still have a long way to go
lol me too, that 4 pawns against my two or one if captures on h4 is just instant panic attack. Immediate resign, in blitz especially 😀.
Morphy is that type of guy that would move the Pieces using his Pinky Finger and Thumb
hilarious
Morphy also seems like the guy that'd adjust his bowtie while murmuring a "hmm" sound after his opponent makes a bad move.
I can confirm this.
Morphy also seems like that type of guy that'd run his hand through his hair before making killer moves (the reason for his hairstyle btw)
He also seems like a person that'd ring his servant using a miniature bell. Morphy is the daintiest.

I really love the Morphy thumbnails.
There should be a history lesson about The Vienna Game. The opening was in fashion around a hundred years ago, but now its a rarity.

That style alternating white black makes sense if you consider games as a pair of black and white, then a pair of black and white.
