Morhpy(ous) successfully dodging bullets by Mr. Anderssen... seems like they are still in the training phase... But not really - this is already the real deal!
I'd think Morphy had the chess mind for analyzing these games, and he'd be thinking about them all the time, day and night, the moves made and the variations.
Gotta remember too that these are the days before engines, and even more so the days before FIDE. Nobody could *really* study their opponents before playing them. So the proteges like Morphy held an even greater advantage, because of their speed at learning.
Thank you so much for playing this game all the way out until the end. Some of us newbies can't see the full checkmating process play out in our heads. Great to see it on the board!
Any proper afterlife should have a Bar&Library type place where the souls of chess players congregate to play some truly epic games. Sort of like Valhalla but with more thoughtful consideration and less shouting. Could still have quaffing of ale, but only in the blitz sections.

I absolutely find it amazing the way he connects the titles of the videos with some of the great dialogues from cinema. This one from The Matrix Trilogy is Awesome!!!🙌🏻
What an amazing match this is and what a great game, as good as anything played today. Hard to believe this occurred in the mid 19th century. Wonderful presentation, as always.
Agad I'm not sure if you read comments but I wanted to say that your videos are a godsend. I appreciate your efforts and I know millions do too. You are a great guy, and I really mean that. Thank you.
At least Anderssen was an honourable gentleman, unlike some other opponents who Morphy may or may not have played. For example, Staunton went down in history as a real coward.
You mean the drawn game?Or the most complicated game ever where tal crushed koblents..if you're meaning that then type student surpasses the teacher" on agadmator's channel..
On Morphy doing the same thing every time (first losing, then winning in style) I once read in an old chess book that back then it was considered "polite" not to go all out on your first game. Not sure how much of that is true, however.
it depends on your opponent. Morphy knew how strong anderssen was and it would've been disrespectful to throw the game as anderssen would know what morphy did
It’s like Morphy lets them win the first game or two, allows them to feel confident about themselves, and then takes their soul away when he knows it’ll hurt most.
What a brilliant positional player Morphy was? There were those crazy sacrifices driven games but mostly his positional game set him apart from Anderson who was a brilliant attacker as well. Easily the greatest series ever.

Don't underestimate 3.c4 in the Nf6 line of the Scandinavian. I used to use it to transpose to the Panon-Bottvinnik until people started playing e6 (Icelandic Gambit) instead of c6. It's pretty interesting stuff.
Paris, 1858. The Eiffel Tower hadn't been built yet, meaning the Great Pyramid was still the tallest man-made structure. And moms were still naming their kids Adolf...
1:11 If white defends the pawn with c4, I like to play e6, then usually you get dxe6, Bxe6, the Icelandic gambit. Black is a little better here I believe, it's hard to play against.
Since Anderssen lost the last game he's trying to play more cautious

Hello everyone. I have just completed the Bobby Fischer Story and I'm catching up as fast as I can on the good stuff - The Morphy Saga.
Don't miss the Capablanca saga. It will improve your opening skills immensely!
Morphy seemed to have the knack for figuring out his opponents. His games get stronger the more times he plays a person.
He is like an anime protagonist!
That’s exactly what I noticed, first game or two he plays not so great then he turns it on full force and dominates their soul
He’s like a deep learning AI.

Löwenthal: What’s his power level?
Anderssen: it’s over 9000!
OK Vegeta
the first two games was just morphy testing and calibrating how much of his power he should unseal for anderssen
He was also ill at the time, but he toughed it out.
Your each video is an unique piece of art
