    Thank you so much for doing this review! I currently have two 24inch 1080p 144hz ultragears and wanted something that would fit in and not have weird issues near the edge whike having the option to edit in 1440p. Its insane how the US is allergic to 24inch high refresh 2k monitors. They seem to be a lot more common in the UK and China weirdly but its definitely not ideal to pay 250 pounds and 100 more pounds on top of four month shipping lol

    Hello, I recently purchased this monitor since it's the only one available in the US that is 1440p at 24 inches. However, I noticed that that OSD looks completely different than the one shown on your best settings video. Did I manage to get a different version/worse version of the Koorui GP01 monitor?
    Also, I can't tell if the monitor is broken or if it is the cable that came with the monitor (Displayport) but when I try to run the monitor at 1440p 165hz, it starts turning on and off and ends up becoming unusable. However if I set it to 1440p 60Hz, then the monitor runs fine. Do I need to buy another Displayport Cable or is my monitor broken?
    I know that the HDMI ports are HDMI 2.0 but do you know if the Displayport is 1.4 or 1.2? The images on the amazon listing say it is 1.2, but I don't know how to verify whether mine is 1.2 or 1.4.
    Sorry for all the questions and thank you for the video review. This is my first gaming monitor so I got concerned when it wasn't functioning properly.
    P.S.: The model number that came in my box was "Product Model: MG24P1Q". I couldn't find any information online about it.

    • @PCMonitors
      @PCMonitors  Месяц назад

      They might've changed the OSD with newer revisions. The monitor ports are probably 'DP 1.2a+' = DP 1.2 bandwidth with DP 1.4 features. Doesn't matter for 2560 x 1440 @165Hz 8-bit as supported by the screen. You should try a different DP cable, reinstalling GPU drivers and also power cycling the monitor. So leave it connected to the GPU, unplug the monitor power cable, wait a few minutes and plug it back in.

    • @dominicmendoza2189
      @dominicmendoza2189 Месяц назад

      @@PCMonitors Finally tried the new DP cable that came in today and it seems like the issue at 165Hz is gone. I'm glad the issue was the DP cable and not the monitor itself.
      Having 1440p at 165Hz on a 24 inch screen is so good.
      I wonder if I ended up getting a different panel because when I went to select the higher refresh rate, my monitor goes all the way up to 180Hz. However I believe that the max bandwidth for DP 1.2 is 1440p at 165Hz so I'll stick with it that instead.
      I tried to find some info online but I'm a little confused on what Dark field bright effect and MPRT do?

    Hello, i'm testing this monitor and the AOC counterpart.
    I'm experiencing white text and pages fatigue on the Koorui, while the AOC is softer and less aggressive on me eyes.
    Do you think this differences can be attributed to the panel tolerances or to the different electronics driving the panels?

    Do you lose details because of this size? (talking about gaming) Is 1440p too much for 24" or is this a misconception? So would a 27" 1440p have less details on paper because of the PPI, but actually have more details because it is bigger? Thank you. Great reviews as always.

    • @PCMonitors
      @PCMonitors  Месяц назад +1

      I talk about the experience in the review and this linked section of a similar review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-q24g2a-bk/#The_238%E2%80%9D_QHD_experience. The pixel density isn't outrageously high or anything - some people (including me) game on '4K' UHD screens that are 27-32" with much higher pixel density. The difference in pixel density on the KOORUI is ~12% compared to a 27" QHD screen. As for the physical size, entirely depends on your eyesight and viewing distance whether you will appreciate the details enough or consider them "lost".

  • @eugene2036

    Is the text clarity for this monitor much better than that of a 27" 1440p monitor? I have gone through two 27" 1440p monitor thinking it was a my hardware but even the more expensive ones on display in store also had blurry text. Does reducing the the screen size to 23.8" really help with text clarity?

    • @PCMonitors
      @PCMonitors  Месяц назад +1

      It provides a ~12% tighter pixel density. Whether that's sufficient for you to consider the text 'crisp' is subjective and also depends on viewing distance.

    Are you going to review the AOC Q27G3XMN? It is perhaps the only 27" non-curved VA miniLED display with high refresh rate, and the price is attractive to boot. It might be the only game in town if you want sharp text, deep blacks and high refresh rates in a relatively compact package. I'd love to see your assessment of the local dimming algorithm and would generally like to know about the sort of details and niggles that you always talk about, but other reviewers mysteriously leave out. • @PCMonitors
      @PCMonitors  9 месяцев назад +2

      DP 1.4 is specified in images on KOORUI's site, but some of their text seems to be a possible copy and paste error mentioning "DP 1.2", and other sites might've re-copied that... Either way the actual port revision is irrelevant, the full capabilities of the monitor are delivered via DP. If it is actually "DP 1.2" it's DP 1.2a+ (HDR feature set) which is all it needs. Having DP 1.4 would bring no practical advantage over that on this model, unless DSC was used to deliver 10-bit 165Hz QHD (which it isn't). As covered in the review, that would be of little practical benefit for most people.

      I think it's a much nicer resolution. The much improved pixel density really helps the clarity when gaming, including how distinct enemies look vs. the background in the distance and just gives a crisper look to edges, texture details etc. 240Hz is nice as well, but not everyone feels the benefits as much. Personally I can see and feel the difference and like it, though I wouldn't say it makes me MUCH better as a gamer and actually feel more of a competitive edge from a resolution bump compared to just going from 165Hz to 240Hz.

    3:04 No not really, a 4K 32" does indeed have higher pixel density but it's not significant from a 1440p 24" , only 137 vs 122 PPI, nothing crazy.
    I'd say that for a lot of people, they might not even notice the difference in just gaming and text reading unless it's a 27" 4K

    • @PCMonitors
      @PCMonitors  4 месяца назад +1

      Many 32" '4K' models are 31.5" so you can round to ~140 PPI - but either way it's ~13-14% difference. The difference in PPI is "only" 81.59 vs. 91.79 (~12%) comparing a 24" and 27" Full HD screen as well, but the difference in the experience is very significant to some and something many will shout about. People have brought this difference up many, many times when discussing monitors with me over the years. Mathematically, that ~13-14% difference also exceeds the difference between ~24" and 27" QHD screens.
      I know there's a case of diminishing returns comparing 23.8" QHD and 31.5" UHD plus it's subjective, but for me the difference is significant. And I am very familiar with that experience as I own multiple ~32" '4K' UHD screens. But it's difficult to isolate just the pixel density, in terms of the overall experience people will have it will also be about having 'details' spread out across a larger area so the subtleties are easier to appreciate.
