    Ride along in the Mitsubishi MU-2 turboprop as I head up to the Kansas area for meetings, and return home into some heavy Thunderstorms. I thought I would use the trip to show the differences between ADSB weather and XM Weather for those that rely on that in the cockpit. Hopefully you will enjoy the ATC audio, in-cockpit takeoff and landing, and some fun time warp footage thanks to GoPro Timewarp. Thank you for enjoying aviation like I do.
    EDIT: THIS IS NOT A TUTORIAL ON HOW TO PENETRATE A LINE OF THUNDERSTORM WITH ONLY ADSB OR XM WEATHER PRODUCTS. Not shown in the comparison was the use of on-board radar, that video did not turn out, so alas -but thankfully some experts were helpful in pointing this out for me.

    I used to fly the MU-2 in 1989 , cancelled checks as cargo through the night on the East coast US. I miss her. If I had the money, I would absolutely get a MU-2 for personal use, such a great design that when maintained properly will last forever. Out of all planes I flew for the airlines this is still my fav. Thx for the vids.

    That was a fun ride a-long, thank you. I used to hate going up in monsoon season when I was over seas. Single inverter and nothing more then a VFR panel. That was back when I was young and dumb and dodging weather, 900+ meter high mountains and bullets. Make that emphasis on the 'dumb' part, lol.

      HA! You might have noticed the "legacy" WX-10 stormscope in the panel, I was literally just talking about how we were basically all-weather capable back in the day with a WX10 & M1 Loran - yes, it is amazing how smart we were at that age..

    What a fantastic airplane. Can you comment on cost of ownership in a very general way? Fuel burn per hr looked like 290lb/hr per side. How about maintenance inspections and recurrent airworthiness directives .

    • @mu2b60marquise
      @mu2b60marquise  2 года назад +6

      The age old question.. I plan to try and tackle this in a full video in the near future.. it will take a while to put it all together, as it is not as simple as piston planes in the inspection side of things.. but I will say this for now - in general - I allow $600/hr for all Fixed costs & Variable Costs ( Hanger, Insurance, training,maint, Nav data, etc ) and target ~ 100gal/hr for fuel burn. Both are a little bit on the high side, but you will not be surprised with those assumptions. Price of fuel obviously moves the needle alot. Super economical for a 10 seat aircraft..

      understand completely where you are coming from. One of the main reasons I started this channel was to provide better information. The market is tough as you already know for airframes - so controller, etc.. Flight training - there is Howell Enterprises, Simcom, and many individual instructors that are extremely qualified to get you your SFAR training. The majority of the training is done in your plane, and I find that much better than an old sim that has very little in common with your particular panel layout. I f you go to the About tab on my channel page here - there is a link for my email, if you send me an email, I can get you in contact with instructors, the new MU2 association, etc.
      Glad to share anything I can . Shameless plug, but there is another video on my channel I think you will like that talks about the performance, etc..

    Do you know why on your garmin attitude indicator the horizon is depicted 2.5 degrees below the level line in cruise flight?

    • @mu2b60marquise
      @mu2b60marquise  2 года назад

      Tony - Did you mean 2.5degrees nose up? If you watch my video on "Is the Mitsubishi MU-2 turboprop Really that fast???" I talk a little bit about the attitude of the plane as it burns off fuel.
      In the beginning ( heavy ) my Marquise will fly slightly nose up , closer to 3.5 degrees, and as I burn off fuel the nose comes down to 2.5-2degrees. And you see about 10 knts in speed difference usually.

    • @tonymcflattie2450
      @tonymcflattie2450 2 года назад +1

      @@mu2b60marquise no, I actually meant that in level flight, your FPV in on the zero degree pitch line - yet the horion is about 2.5 degrees below the zero degree pitch line.
      That's an effect of earth curvature, the higher we fly, the more and more the horioN dips below the level line. (Can really notice with HUD)
