I believe about 8 of the 13 tracks from Transmissions were originally for Downplay, but Downplay's record label fucked them over IIRC

Nah I like the starset version, the screams feel more powerful without the singing
he actually is singing it in the starset version. he's just singing with fry distortion, so it SOUNDS like a scream, but there's still a note in there.

Man, I really wish they'd re-release DWTF again with this emphasis. TRANSMISSIONS' version is excellent, but the added singing in the breakdown brings a ton to this song and its message. And the instruments come through a lot better here. Obviously no hate on the TRANSMISSIONS version (it's one of my favorite tracks ever), but this one hits different.
i wish this version is also on spotify.

Transmissions was like the bridge from Downplay to Starset so I guess it makes sense for both bands to have the same songs.
Starset is basically his remaster version
Many songs from Transmissions were originally for Downplay, but their label tried to change the songs in drastic ways that took away from the song itself and the band was essentially screwed by their label
A lot of bands do this whenever a singer leaves a band and creates a new one. They essentially are taking their ideas from a previous band and bringing it into life in their newer one.
Seen these guys open in Aberdeen SD back in maybe ‘09 or ‘10, can’t remember exactly.
Opened for Adelita’s Way & Puddle of Mudd. Let me tell you, Downplay was so fucking good live that we walked out on PoM.

I still listen to Radiocalypse about 3 or 4 times a week. Starset is great, my favorite band actually, but Downplay has it's place too. even the Crystal Song

Their record label denying all these songs for what would've been their upcoming album was the best thing that happened to music. Dustin became inspired by his degree, and Starset was born. By far, the best live band I've seen all thanks to their Immersion tour this year. They inspire me to make a difference in the world.

this is my own song about despair... I was dumped three times by three different girls, and each time I sat on the edge of the bridge listening to this track... Dustin forever.
So considering that this was originally a Downplay song and that this a re upload of the music video, I take it that the original upload was deleted or privated because Dustin wanted to rebrand it as a Starset song.
I think that Dustin didn't want to release this on downplay or didn't like this version and remake it on Starset

NMages20 Downplay went into an indefinite hiatus before some songs could be put on an album, such as Everything I Am (now known as Carnivore), Dark On Me, Down With the Fallen, Let It Die, My Demons, and probably a few others.

This is Starset. It's a song from their first album. And they have a second one. And they are releasing singles for an upcoming third album in november. I don't know a lot about downplay but I know it's the same singer. So forget about Downplay and start listening to Starset because they are 100 times better
Downplay is his ex-band. I know that Starset is better, but Downplay has some great songs too, like Hated You From Hello, Save me, The one who laughs last
Actually Starset is a side project of Dustin and DeChant. Downplay is still in the works once the lineup can return to play again (one of them left for other interests. The other left for school)
Wow, that was really wrong. This was originally Downplay (along with most of the Transmissions album), Starset is a side project of Downplay, Starset released their third album in September, and both Starset and Downplay are great and neither should be ignored.
