- Some time ago, I roughly turned a bowl from a piece of wood that I think is larch.
The tree was cut down due to its poor condition and I think that the discoloration in the wood was caused by some kind of disease and that has weakened the tree.
After turning the bowl for the first time, I treated it with wood glue and set it aside to dry.
On the second turn, I first turned the bowl a little smaller so that it could fit in the colejaws.
When the bowl fit into the colejaws, I mounted it in there and turned the bottom and the recess.
After turning the recess around again, I mounted the bowl with the recess on the chuck and gave the bowl the definitive size and shape.
I finished the bowl with two layers of sealer and light sanding in between, and then finished with friction polish.
The bowl has a diameter of 26 centimeters and is 8 centimeters high.
Beautiful, Hans. Wood and your skills, both are! Cheers, Frank
Thank you Frank

Larch? I could have sworn it was Ash.
Decent result anyway! Cheers Hans! 😎
thank you Leo, I'm not sure what kind of wood it is, but it is definitely not ash because when I sawed it and turned it the first time there was a lot of resin in the wood, so I suspect it is larch.
