- Last week, I got into an INSANE juvenile tarpon bite!!
They were crushing lures within inches of my kayak.
I chose to fish a backwater creek that is usually home to tons of small tarpon and snook.

Juvenile tarpon are flat-out FUN!!!
If you’re having a slow day, it can sometimes be worthwhile to check out backwater creeks for smaller snook or juvenile tarpon.

Great insight with the weather change turning on the fish bite. Nuances not always shared.
I'm so glad you posted this video. I'm having a major challenge getting juvenile tarpon to commit to my plastic fluke. The strange part sometimes it works for almost every cast but lately, they barely chase it. I want to try this technique and I'll repost my result.
Thanks for checking it out and let us know how you do!
thanks for the great video. keep up the good work.God Bless and stay safe
Thanks, you too!
Will this be posted in the community? Looking for the location. Great post!

It was already. Just tag me and I’ll send you the link
That is a VERY productive creek for tarpon!
Thanks for the feedback!
@@Saltstrong You're quite welcome! Where do you reside? I live in Sebastian.
I actually live in an RV full time and drive all over the South East. If you’re in Sebastian, a lot of those residential creeks hold them year round. Right now there’s a ton on bigger tarpon in the Sebastian river west of the railroad bridge.
@@shallowwaterguy4755 I've fished the Sebastian River West of the Railroad Tressel a few times, mostly in the North fork, the C-54 Canal . You can often see big tarpon rolling in the middle of the channel. Unfortunately, I have had little luck in hooking any on artificial lures. How have you fared?
@@brianbickhaus9081 it’s pretty much a live bait bite in there. Finger mullet on a flat line can work but you’ll have to weed through the sharks at times. Crane and Turkey creeks are typically better for the smaller juveniles.
What setup were you using? (Rod power line reel)
Yeah curious what rod that it
It was a 7 foot ML Star VPR, 2500 Daiwa Ballistic MQ, 10 pound Power Pro braid, 20 pound mono leader. It’s the same set up I use for trout and slot reds.
@@shallowwaterguy4755 thanks

Where is this creek
That's been a year ago, so we'd have to check with Pat. Check out the full blog and post a comment there, and he should respond. You can find it here: www.saltstrong.com/articles/insane-juvenile-tarpon-bite/
At what point in the video does a tarpon roll? Sometimes I can’t tell if it’s just bait fish activity or tarpon? Any tips?
Check out the full blog on our website and post your question there. That way, Pat and team can respond with any tips they have to help out. You can find that here: www.saltstrong.com/articles/insane-juvenile-tarpon-bite/
Can you share what ounce is that hook and where to get the plastic lure from?
I am not exactly sure what ounce hook he is using but both can be found on our fishstrong.com page. The hook is a Hoss Helix Hook fishstrong.com/products/salt-strong-hoss-helix-hooks?variant=42259900367022 and the lure is a FRED Paddletail: fishstrong.com/products/f-r-e-d-scented-paddletail-lure?_pos=1&_sid=8c136ef9c&_ss=r&variant=42188901515438

What type of kayak do fish from
Great question! Make sure to ask this over in the Community (www.saltstrong.com/) where the coaches spend their time.
Some day I will hook a Tarpon!
They are fun!
One of my favorite fish to catch!
