Don't beat yourself up, your a fishing machine and have caught more fish than most, your knot didn't come undone, the tarpon untied it, now that's a fishing story to tell!
Man I've been a fisherman my entire life as long as I can remember.....but I am a crappie fisherman and this to me is still awesome to see every time.......I'm almost fifty and I have caught everything in fresh water at least put of the lakes in Texas and allot of specs and big reds at the coast.....but never have I ever had a chance to catch 1 of these beasts.....I have caught a 275 lb maco and a 180lb black tip shark off the Padre island coast..... awesome day sir
That’s gorgeous water you’re fishing…with incredible fish. Good to see you’re not taking it for granted! I’d love to mess around with a fly rod there for a bit
I did the same thing with my net the other day. It was so bad I considered throwing it away, ugh...I feel your pain. Awesome video. Thanks for the idea of chumming with the stuck bait.
This guy has everything in line working for him. He knows what to do, where to go, how to prepare, but he just sucks at rigging. Love you still! I'm jealous.
Love the channel.I had a thought while watching this, if you are chumming, all of the bait you are chumming with is sinking at a certain speed. When you have a weighted hook, your bait starts falling and acting much differently than your chum, and your bait can stick out like a sore thumb. This can be a good or bad thing depending on the scenario like if the big fish are deeper and you want to get the bait down to them before the little guys get it.However, if the seem to be hesitant, a quick switch to a smaller thin wire hook to be the ticket so that it doesn't affect the action or sink rate of you bait. I find this especially useful when chumming finicky snapper. Again love the content. Much love.
I like that I immediately knew exactly where you were at the second this vid started. If u fish the Keys bridges enough you should know where that is too.
@@flatbrokeoutdoors8462 not like everyone that fishes out of the area already knows it. it’s a public boat ramp with crystal clear water u can see the bait all day long 😭
Love the channel. This is a great channel to learn a ton about inshore fishing. As a side note I just punched a 5 pack of your Cuda Tubes.
Wrong net size for those baits lol. Mirco or small tarpon are pretty guaranteed in key largo to Islamorada. Let’s have a one day fishing tournament( live streamed) for 1k or 2k a boat. 1st 🥇 takes the pot. You can pick the species the date and location also 🤷♂️. If you turn it down maybe 1 of your viewers wants to take your spot. No I’m not a guide in the keys. You can reach me at bobhewes21 or anthonyhewes21 on intragram. This is 💯.
When I use live bait I sacrifice one or two and I smash them up really good and I use their juices as hand lotion before I start fishing that seems to mask my scent and I catch a lot more fish when I remember to do that. It was really fun watching your video thanks I’m in Northwest Florida and fish for reds trout and flounder but we do have the occasional juvenile Tarpon that come up our way and they sure are fun to catch
By nice coincidence this showed up in my recommendations at the same time the latest tarpon prep video dropped, and I haven't seen this one before so yayyy
Aliex, that was An Epic vid bro. Those juvenile Tarpon, and the big 100lb Tarpons get tired. Steve actually walks them, until they're fresh. Those sharks just wait. 🌊 🎣 🌴
Great video. I love fishing by the bridge here at Lake Norman NC. Not only bc there are great bass along the rocks....I like making all the commuters jealous of me while they're stuck in gridlock traffic on 77. Lol
Just a suggestion next time to try to grab the tarpon, because those hooks take a while to rust out. Awesome video, it’s fun to play with the tarpon because I’ve hooked so many.
Jesus christ, this guy should start a rock band called slip’dknot. If i had a day so frustrating fishing like this i think i’d call it quits. This guy has way better spirits losing fish than i would lol.
when you just get to many glass minnows in your net, pinch and shake first to get as many as you can then, set it outside for a day or two, then hang it up and pressure wash it with a hose and nozzle, they just wash out after about a day. then put about a cup of hair conditioner in a five gallon bucket mix well. let sit over night, take out in morning, wash out good and hang it to dry. this will make your net much easier to shake out unwanted bait next time.
You were the first person i ever subscribed to, it was your catch and cooks from the early days, since then ive subscribed to many others, most of them locals from norcal, these guys suck at fishing, but their catch and cooks carry their channels, you ever think about getting in touch with your inner asian side and go full blown cnc? I came out to St Petersburg to fish for 4 days. Long story short, with a strangers boat and being unfamiliar with east coast waters and all the sand bars, I caught a sting ray. Smh.
Just share my experience, Let the bait free swim, u dont have to add some weight to your hook. And snap your hook to part of the fish which make it can easy swim and still strong to swim

Kinda irresponsible way to land the fish though imo. Them hooks don't actually rust out as fast as people say, if they do at all even.

If you just shake the net for a few minutes 90% of them will fall out

Try using a plastic ladle to scrape the gill netted bait off the cast next. The heads break off easily.

Great natural structure area to fish; looks to have nice fish feeding….
A beautiful spot to fish. I can't imagine why people want to run a boat twenty or thirty miles out when you can catch fish like this, close to shore.

I think you need a stronger leader line or a better knot. I recommend the Palomar knot.
Those craters were made during the filming of PT 109. No kidding. Look it up. Great fishing holes year a round.
