@@samuel_3874 I'm certain you were aware he was speaking in relative terms in which case without your implied context "underrated" was an entirely accurate description, no doubt it boosted your self esteem a bit though when you directed him to "stop" doing a thing on the internet.

Biggest difference I think. For me, I look forward to life... for you, its death. My belief is nothing for us after we die, just dirt and worms, every day is precious because its all we have. But its a nice idea, that everyone that we lose is waiting there for us... a shame I can't accept it... it would be nice if I could.

I didn't know if he was saying "don't hurt me" but it's what I needed to hear because it's what I felt. It gave me so much comfort knowing that it's what he actually said a couple of years later. Now "don't hold me" is giving me comfort. Life isn't what i thought it'd be. I'm crying like a bitch as i type this and the absurdity of being sled aware is both comforting and absolute horror. My beloved dog Mazzy, the best friend I'll ever have, passed peacefully in her sleep, at home in her bed last night, after a long battle with cancer, diabetes, you name it. This is the very worst day of my life. It's too painful. I battled with her to the very end and drained all money I'd saved and then some, in so doing. She was THAT special, and much, much more. Her value and importance was limitless.
It's very easy for me to imagine that the primary lyrics to this song are her talking to me with love and acceptance for all we've had together, and all we never will, and the repeating lyrics are me talking to her in the fear/sorrow of this very moment in time.
Thank you Radiohead for constructing the absolute perfect song for us in this, our saddest times.

I've been listening to this song for over 11 years now and this is the first time it's hit me hard. I saw the phrase "give up the ghost" on a Formula 1 RUclips video comment and it made me instantly think of this song, so I searched it on Google and got the meaning instead of the song. I don't know why - perhaps because I haven't been feeling well recently - but after seeing the meaning followed by reading the lyrics and listening to the song, it seemed particularly poignant this time. I think this acted as a small reminder that things will get better ...

Somethings I will never understand in my lifetime... My favorite song and apparently from their worst album. I dont understand it but I will Give Up the Ghost(s).

This “From the Basement” session, is better than the album version. With the Portishead drummer as a second drummer, oh boy, I wish this were the studio version. All the songs sound better.
Also, their worst album is Pablo Honey. It’s not nearly as good as this.

I swear I hear 'don't harm me' rather than 'don't hurt me' which the lyrics online suggest. Guess it doesn't make much difference

@@pancakeslmao20 es interesante porque From the Basement salió antes. Mejor dicho, fueron adelantadas un par de canciones
Aun me gusta más la Videotape que escuché primero, la de The Basement

They really put too much distortion on his voice in the studio version. This is so much better.

Ive been into this band since the bends and i will never get over how good they are, how much they have meant to me. As far as Thom's voice...Ive never found the words to adequately express
