Perfect video. We set up while you explained set up, watched to the end, and I was ready to go! Congrats on having the company themself reach out to you; it's well deserved!
I recently bought Parks, and OH MY GOD the production quality is by far the best of any game I own. The rulebook is canvas for goodness sake. And I absolutely love the game. It's very simple but also very intelligent and hyper thematic. So I'm very interested in this game.
Absolutely love the way you explained everything. And the video quality of the close-ups for all the pieces is impeccable! I'm definitely getting this game! thank you!
I was thinking of getting Parks pretty recently! Seeing this video now, I’ll likely get this first as it seems like a much “lighter” version of Parks, and as such, a quicker game to learn and play. Thanks for the great video!
If you can, get both :D My wife and I play Parks 2-3 times a week because we really enjoy it. After the "Nightfall" expansion to Parks the game got even more interesting because it gives you a bunch of more options to choose from. Parks is one of my three most played games and pretty much everyone who has played it once asks for another session :)
Thanks for this video. I was trying to decide if this game was different enough from Parks to warrant getting. It seems like it is worth getting. We love Parks and I think we would enjoy this game as well.
It seems that Trails is a lot easier version of Parks, since you don't have to worry about being blocked from spaces during the game, and you have a little more time to prepare for points, since you're not forced to move to the trail once your the only one on any active spaces. So it looks like it would take less time to complete a game of Trails than Parks, but it also depends on player count, experience with the game, etc.
@@WatchItPlayed It seems that the game teacher himself is losing a lot to his family these days for as long as the channel's been on. Anyway, it was a nice tutorial, one way or another. Thank you for this great explanation! I recently tried to play Trails as a 2-person game (before finding your video) and have a question. On the 2 person side of the “trail end” tile, the only icon at the top is the bear icon. How does this impact the movement of the sun tile? Thanks for any help!

The box says 20-40 minutes, and I think that's accurate, but length of play is very player dependent (if you have players taking slow turns, the game will take longer :) ). I'll avoid saying whether it's a good ice breaker game, as I prefer not to make those kinds of assessments for other people. People have different tastes, so I prefer to show the game, and then hopefully the viewer can see if it looks like one that appeals to them.

Hi Ricky, I’m traveling right now and can’t easily look up the answer for you, sorry! If the rules or video don’t say it’s a one time use, than it isn’t.
Question: I'm assuming that when you decide to trade in resources for a badge, you must have, using the example in the video, 4 leaves, 5 acorns, and 4 stones to earn all 3 badges. It wouldn't be 2 acorns, 3 leaves, and 3 stones. Resources can't be used twice for two different badges? Glad videos are still being made on this channel, keep it up
It's probably for cost savings. They are pricing the game at $20 is pretty reasonable to me. You can buy a resource token upgrade on their site supposedly, which might be released when the game is launched.
I agree, a little disappointing considering how great the other components in Parks were and how good the other components in the game look, but I suppose everything can't be premium and still hit a $20 price point.
We have discovered that the best way to play the game is to use dice. Even numbers would represent 2 moves and odd numbers meant you move 1 placement. If you’re 1 away from the trailhead or trail end, just go the 1 move. Once at the trail start or end, just keep buying up the badges with your resources until you can’t get anymore then move on or your badges pile won’t budge much. Important! The Sun only moves when any hiker reaches only the trail end and is ready to turn around. Don’t forget to get your badge rewards or Sun reward. Only take and keep the Sun when the Sun reaches the trail head sun icon on the furthest left. All players have 1 turn then it’s count ‘em up time. Hope this helps! Happy playing.
