After three attempts, I finally found a helpful How To Play video for this game! You are the only one that coherently explains the Gameplay phase! Thank you!
Read and reread instructions. Confused. Watched 3 other tutorials. Still confused. This one was the winner. I finally understand how to play. Thank you for being so clear. Subscribed!
I'm the guy in my game group that is (for some unfathomable reason) in charge of rules research, and I've seen at least five how-to videos for this game. This, by far, is the clearest, and the one I'm choosing to share with the group. Thank you!
Just bought this game. This is the only tutor and video that really explained in-depth the cards, components, and how to interpret each card. The tutor focused on the game and did not add any jokes, side remarks, useless banter that distracted the listener. Good video!
This is the best set up video I’ve seen so far for this game. I tried 3 or 4 different ones to include the video made by keymaster. The only thing I’d add is based on the rule book the player who goes first is supposed to be the person who went hiking last.
Excellent vid. I was working on a solo one mode demo. I'll point some things out . Wildlife can be used to visit a park or take a photo but not fill a canteen or buy gear. You can only have 12 resource tokens at one time discard down to 12 which could effect when you fill canteens. Reasons to blind draw reserve a park are because late game you don't have the resources or the point values aren't high enough or need the bonus card requirements so you take the chance for a more useful card. The gear cards are color coded so green effects forest, red mountains, blue water, orange sunshine. Forests and Mountains are in shorter supply that's a reason to draw canteen cards. Total score 18 pts is on the low end the average is 24 pts between 20-29 pts. number of parks card visited avg 6 high end 10+. Bonus cards shouldn't really be goals. Just bonuses if you can get them. The nightfall expansion will replace the year cards. Having the Lookout special tile show up in the first season can make the scores higher since you can visit or reserve parks or buy gear more often.
one of the best tutorials I have ever seen. You speak slowly enough to follow, & you speak very clearly. I also like the short comments on why you are doing certain actions. You give a true feel for the game. Thank you.
Lance you have nailed how to teach a game! After giving up on the way-to-fast Keymaster video, immediately quitting some screechy couple, and suffering through a 4-person lets just play (slow!!!) that did not show setup, I found you. You must have been an engineer (high complement) or a teacher before this. You are now my go-to for new games. Thanks, thanks, thanks, okay, 4th glass of wine, but still great job.
Playing this today at a board game cafe with my husband, this is my picked game to play so I am responsible for rules. Thank god for utube. I struggle to learn by just reading things. Thanks
Thanks for watching and posting. I hope you have a great time with the game and I will have a play through video and a teaching video for the expansion coming soon as well;)
Thanks man, way more informative compared to other ones. Really hoping for a parks nightfall video from you, but hey, at least Paula did a great one on that one.
Thanks for watching and for the positive feedback and request. I am hoping to talk with them at Gen-con next week to see if they would like a follow up video;)
Ey, in your video you spoke about putting your Klingon subtitles on. In youtube I see many languages, but Klingon isn't one of them. So is Phyrexian or even Sindarin, for what that's worth.
On the trail end, the bonus should be "Gain a sunshine" instead of a discount on purchasing gear right? I'm only asking because that might trigger some seasonal effects related to gaining sunshine.
Hi! We just finished playing the game and loved it! A quick question on scoring though: my husband had the secret objective of “have 12/18 of one type of resource on visited parks and get 2/3 victory points. Well, he manages to get 12 of one type and 18 of the other, so does that mean he gets a total of 5 points since he met requirements twice, or just the 3 points? (I of course think it’s three he thinks it’s 5- but he won either way so I’m not too bitter lol)
Thanks so much for watching and for your question. I checked out the card you are talking about and went back into the rule book and on pg. 7 bottom right hand paragraph it actually talks about this goal in the note. For the year of plenty your goal is to have 12 or 18 of the same symbol across your visited parks, but it can be any of the four types. From that I would say the best you can do is 3 pts with 18 of a single symbol. Hope this clears it up;)
Thanks for watching and for the question. So It states in the rules that the year cards grant a player an extra 2 or 3 points if they meet the conditions of the card, so I would say with the (or) in there it would be one or the other but not both. Hope this helps;)

I totally agree. This guy is awesome. Calm, clear, concise.
Yeah everyone explains the setup and scoring but doesn't explain movement/turn play

You are very welcome, and I totally understand your pain as I have the same role in my gaming group. Here's to the teachers;)

This was so helpful
Thanks;)
My copy has icons instead of the words Gear and Canteen. Is that because your copy is an advance copy that was subject to change?
Should I master playing the multiplayer first before I can play the solo game mode? Thanks =D
If you want but it is not necessary. Both modes play similarly so playing one will help with the other. Thanks for watching and posting.

Thanks again 😂
If you meet both conditions on the year card, do you get 5 points? Or just the bottom condition?
Thanks for watching and for the question. So It states in the rules that the year cards grant a player an extra 2 or 3 points if they meet the conditions of the card, so I would say with the (or) in there it would be one or the other but not both. Hope this helps;)
