- Tidal Twister was the second Skywarp from Skyline Attractions, and it's the only one still in operation. Although I use operation lightly since this ride seems to be closed more than its open. This is a Horizon model with an inline twist and camelback. Enthusiasts debate whether this ride is a coaster or not, but the more important question is whether this is a good ride? In this video, I discuss Tidal Twister and whether the Skywarp model in general has been a failure.

It's not the worst ride at all but it's just so much engineering for such little ride experience
I was shocked how much went into it.
Another big reason for why this ride has so much downtime is because of how hard it is to get parts from its manufacturer. Which fun fact: RMC had actually played a big part in creating the Skywarp model as well as producing much of the parts for the trains.

I'm surprised the ride is hard to source.
I personally know someone who likes Harley Quinn Crazy Coaster, but even they say it's mediocre at best, from when I heard their score of 5/10.
It's a flawed ride for sure.
I spent a day at SWSD in October 2021 and I don't believe I even laid eyes on this ride. I knew it existed, but I did not expect it to be open. It's weird to see a video of yours, from a park I've been to, and recognize almost nothing.
I had to go over to make sure it was even open.

I'm happy we ended up going to the SeaWorld in San Antonio over this one, they have the better rides, even over the ones in Orlando!
I think San Diego has the best animal exhibits. San Antonio has better coasters though.

I didn’t realize this thing was still standing and operating. I’m intrigued to try it someday. I did see Harley Quinn SBNO, but never got to ride that.
It's closed so often it might as well be SBNO.
Honestly they should just scrap it and throw a flat ride in that spot instead. Swsd is in quite the dire need for a good flat anyway so maybe some kind of pendulum ride.

It seems like such a cool concept. If a more reliable manufacturer made it then it may be successful for small parks with it’s small footprint and lower price.
Skyline seems to have learned from these rides as evidenced by the improvements stated on their site.
@@CanobieCoaster their new family coaster looks really fun. And single rails just seems like great investments for small parks
Skyline Attractions seems to have the Vekoma start, in regards to their roller coasters.
Hopefully they can improve at a similar rate.
I busted out laughing when you said how often it broke down!! I agree it’s a fun ride that gets a lil too much hate, but I’m shocked they’re still running this ride on life support. If guests like you have to go out of their way to experience a supporting attraction, I don’t think that’s worth it. Maybe they’re thinking that plot of land couldn’t fit anything worthwhile, idk. I can’t think of another ride that has been THIS problematic and hasn’t been taken out back…
I would not be surprised if this is removed in the near future given all its trouble.
I honestly didn't think it was that bad. Way better than Harley Quinn, that's for sure.

I always said that the purple figure 8 roller coaster wasn't going to last at Seaworld. I remember when they built and opened Tidal Twister back in 2019, and now here we are 4 years later with the possibility of it closing. Honestly, I don't understand why Seaworld decided to create the purple figure 8 ride, this was just a waste of their time and I'm glad that the park will be getting rid this nightmare. Tital Twister could have been better if it went over the Bayside building and into a Banked Turn, making the ride a little more exciting. Seaworld needs to get a new purple family roller coaster created by Zierer.
I get why they were interested in this given their height limit, but it seems to be a mechanical nightmare.
I actually ran into someone from Skyline while at the school I work at. I saw the shirt and immediately asked if they built Harley Quinn, and sure enough, it was them. I forgot they work with GCI sometimes, which is one county above me.
They seem like a nice company to talk to.

I'm soo lucky that I got to ride this when I went. That time, the park's website said it was closed so I didn't expect myself to get on it. But when I was in the park, I went ahead and came to check to see if it was open or not anyway. And as soon as I saw it ran with people, I was surprised and immediately ran to get in line to ride it. From my ride experience, it was ok. It was a little bit rough and it did have a bit of headbanging. It wasn't really painful though. I still did enjoy it for what it is. Ik some people don't count this a coaster and count it a flat ride instead. But since it's on RCDB, I'll be kind enough to consider it a powered coaster. But again, it's a powered coaster. And because I don't count powered coasters as credits, I'm still not going to put this in my coaster credit count.
I wouldn't count this as a powered coaster since it does coast (albeit for a short section) when the tires aren't engaged with the train.
I think Skyline has so much potential with these models if they could just perfect the maintenance and the operation system. I've never ridden any of their coasters, but I've heard that they're all pretty rough.
I've heard their kiddie ones are smooth, but they're down a lot.
I hate to use the rule of counting it as a credit, because it is on the database, but ultimately, that is the clincher for me. I would not argue with anybody who wants to count this as a flat ride. It does not exactly have the spirit of what a coaster is in my opinion, but it does check most if not all of the boxes. It is certainly more of a roller coaster than a Larson loop. At least I rode this once in early January 2020 and have not had the desire to ride it again, and every time I have been back to the park since it’s re-opening I have not seen it operating but I understand that it does sporadically operate at random times lately.
I ask myself if it passes the smell test. This does, albeit barely.
I’m kind of similar. I don’t expend any energy making rules for what is or isn’t a coaster. For me, if coaster-count calls it a coaster, I count it as one. It’s a lazy approach, but it’s consistent enough for me.
I do hope they get these types of rides right, as in theory they are great additions for parks.

@@CanobieCoaster A great start would be removing the tilting cars at the station, guests could just enter a slanted car, no issues there.
Just saw that Tidal Twister has been removed from the website and app. It looks like the attraction is gone/will be taken out.
I'm not surprised given all the downtime.
We have annual passes so we are there almost every week. We've only seen it actually operating once. It breaks down constantly. It's mostly closed, but when it IS open people are just waiting in line in hopes that it will actually run
Wow. You make me realize how lucky I was to ride it on my one visit. It was down for a while that day, but when it opened up I rode it, not realizing my luck, I guess.

Among the downtime, when open, what do you think about the rides between the first Skyline Rides Skywarp, Harley Quinn Crazy Coaster at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Tidal Twister at SeaWorld San Diego?
Harley Quinn was atrocious. It was very rough. Tidal Twister is a mess, but it's fun.
It’d be cool if you could do a series ranking different types of coasters by how forceful they are
That would be a tricky one to do since it's more about the layout than the just the model.
I think people would have a better opinion on skyline coasters if they were installed at fec parks instead of setting the new coaster clock back for bigger parks

I never rode this one, it was closed when I went there in 2021, however I did ride the one at discovery kingdom and it was awful
Harley Quinn is way worse.
I had a horrible time on this ride. It’s just so uncomfortable, you always feel like you’re gonna fall out, but not in a good way… the restraints are terrible and it’s also really rough
I like the hangtime, but I get that it's not for everyone.
i got a chance to ride it just last tuesday and had no clue it was THIS unreliable, thankfully it was open and operating just fine when i went to its part of the park. personally really disliked it, unfortunately, because i do think it's a cool concept, but the ride felt slow, boring, and shaky, nothing really appealed to me

Would it be better if they didn’t use single rail track? Less maintenance and no specialty track would be needed
I think it would help if you loaded on a straight section of track so the cars didn't need to raise and lower.

Tidal Twister is ok. Crazy Coaster is bad.
I'd consider this a coaster, as well as Harley Quinn. But iv heard this ride in my has hangtime and hangtime that isn't necessarily comfortable. I di enjoy hangtime and that sustained -1 G head blood rush though.

My take on this: one small pop of nice airtime. Aside from that, just unrelenting awkwardness and loudness.

I don't consider theses coasters. Their trains design is done in such a way that it is always under power from drive tires and never truly coasts to complete its cycle.
It does coast for part of the track, admittedly not much though.

Crazy Coaster was rough and repetitive.
I would consider it a flat ride.
Definitely looks like one, but it has coaster mechanisms.

Yeah. It's basically just a squished down twisted larson loop, which I count more as a coaster-shaped flat ride than I do an actual coaster.
It looks like a weird bayern kurve, but it does coast for part of it.
It's a flat ride. Basically a rip-off redesign of a Swiss Twist which was never considered a coaster. If the only thing it takes for a ride to be a roller coaster........a tilt-o-whirl is a roller coaster. the car has wheels and runs on rails powered by gravity.
It does have a lot of flat ride elements.
A tilt-a-whirl is a THRILL/FAMILY RIDE.
