It's a no-brainer for this film to be one of Disney's highest-grossing and most popular. It helped revive the interest in traditional Disney musicals as one of the best animated movies to watch during the holidays.

People remember the insane fanbase of these movies more than the actual quality of the movie, which is a shame. Encanto is a very powerful film, yes it got incredibly popular with teens and 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' was a bit overplayed, I'd say the love is more than deserved. People need to stop letting fandoms ruin the beauty of art.

When it comes to encanto people only call it overrated due to all the early hype focusing on the two male characters and ignoring the female lead and many strong female characters. Everyone was talking about camilo and Bruno so people assumed that the movie was about them. People also call anything popular overrated but it’s been a while and I’ve seen people appreciating encanto a lot recently. It had good reviews the moment it came out and honestly I don’t think much will change about its public perception. It’s a loud minority that dislike that film
I never really thought it was bad, more so just a little too over advertised and overhyped. It's imperfect, but don't let anything stop you from enjoying it if you like it.

Seeing how they juggled with complex ideas in part 2 that ended up messy (and Jennifer Lee also wrote "Wish," which may or may not have been affected by exec influence), there's no guarentee the theme would've been executed well.
Frozen while overrated is still a very fun and enjoyable movie, with fantastic animation, a good cast of main characters, and very well put together and awesome soundtracks, Frozen 2 however had more potential, but had a bad execution and very bad pacing and Olaf was annoying as hell

Even tho the franchise is overrated, that’s not a bad thing at all. My family still loves the movies and I never get tired of Let it Go, Show Yourself, and For the First Time in Forever. Elsa also making her mark as like a top 10 most iconic Disney character

I really enjoy the first Frozen film and the TV Special Olaf's Frozen Adventure and Frozen Fever a lot more than Frozen 2. And you make very valid points on why no matter what problems the first film has it will always have a place in many people's hearts.

I remember a few years ago when people really started to criticize the original Frozen and I started to wonder if it was actually that good. I rewatched it. It was actually pretty great.

I think the 3rd film can iron out the flaws of the 2nd one (less jumbled narrative, utilize side characters introduced, make Kristanna loveable again, etc.) And justice for "Gigtantic"! The Anderson-Lopez team deserve more Disney musicals outside of the Frozen franchise (and we should've gotten this Spanish tale instead of "Wish").
I'd love to see Disney Revitalize some of their cancelled projects, since I think that there is genuine potential with films like "Gigantic" and even "Kingdom of the Sun" from the early 2000s. They just need a few rewrites and a new creative team to get them off the ground.

Change the designs, names, and llama subplot, get Lin-Manuel Miranda or the Anderson-Lopez team to do the music, and we've got an epic musical on our hands--and our first Disney musical with a male lead since "Tarzan" (or "Hercules," since "Tarzan" wasn't a traditional musical).
@@OpticalSorcerer Agreed. Frozen (not counting its sequel) is currently the last Disney film to be an adaptation of a fairytale. I get the need to want to change things up between releases, but I think there's merit in simply modernizing the formula. Combine the best elements of the classic and modern era's of the Disney movie catalogue within the fairy tale musical format. AKA, more mythological elements, stronger Hero and Villain dynamics and high fantasy concepts. And yeah, I think it'd be cool to have another Disney Prince musical (especially when the last real Disney Prince in a movie was Hans, and maybe Kristoff.)
@@ironphantom4912 Growing up, I heard A LOT of people drag down Disney for only doing adapted material. I think they've done great original films now, and it doesn't hurt to throw in some fairy tales here and there. I'd love "Rumplestiltskin" or "Hansel & Gretel," personally. But KOTS is my top priority for revivals (and a Swan Lake musical, too). Sadly Disney princes only exist by association, so unless Disney keeps the love interests from the concept, Manco and his brother won't join the official roster.

While I want Frozen 3 to be a redemption time for Frozen franchise (after the awful Frozen 2 which was one of the worst disney movies ever) I got HUGE doubts. They green-lighted the 3th and 4th movies because disney desperately needs money, NOT because they've got a cool idea how to continue the franchise. I fear they came up with one random concept ("wouldn't it be nice if Elsa fights with another elemental sorcerer?" for example) and now they have to build a 1hour movie based around that concept. That's not how you write movies. Frozen 2 was written the same way; from backwards, first they came up with the ending and then they've just artficially made the rest up. That's why it was so bad, and I fear F3 will meet the same fate.
You always have the "Unnecessary" Frozen sequel to blame! He, unlike any Rapunzel, Wreck-It Ralph, and the Six Heroes, offered a lot of new and interesting things
My husband has a theory about Anna's frozen heart. He thinks that Anna was surrounded by people who loved her otherwise she would have died right off the bat when Elsa did that to her
I still have Frozen as one of my favorite franchises, and I'm glad that I got to see the broadway musical version of it at the NAC in February this year! Tickets to that were a surprise Christmas gift from an adult friend for her, me, and my mother and I wore a cosplay costume of the blue dress with the belt that Elsa wears in the second movie during that experience. I very much hope that Disney does NOT make Elsa be gay by marrying that girl Honeymarin in the third movie, may those 2 female characters just stay being good fiends instead of becoming a gay married couple!!!!!!!

I disagree we look @ Moana who's reputation remained the same so I don't think Encanto public reception will change.
People remember the insane fanbase of these movies more than the actual quality of the movie, which is a shame. Encanto is a very powerful film, yes it got incredibly popular with teens and 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' was a bit overplayed, I'd say the love is more than deserved. People need to stop letting fandoms ruin the beauty of art.

When it comes to encanto people only call it overrated due to all the early hype focusing on the two male characters and ignoring the female lead and many strong female characters. Everyone was talking about camilo and Bruno so people assumed that the movie was about them. People also call anything popular overrated but it’s been a while and I’ve seen people appreciating encanto a lot recently. It had good reviews the moment it came out and honestly I don’t think much will change about its public perception. It’s a loud minority that dislike that film

Seeing how they juggled with complex ideas in part 2 that ended up messy (and Jennifer Lee also wrote "Wish," which may or may not have been affected by exec influence), there's no guarentee the theme would've been executed well.

I really enjoy the first Frozen film and the TV Special Olaf's Frozen Adventure and Frozen Fever a lot more than Frozen 2. And you make very valid points on why no matter what problems the first film has it will always have a place in many people's hearts.

I remember a few years ago when people really started to criticize the original Frozen and I started to wonder if it was actually that good. I rewatched it. It was actually pretty great.
You've obviously allowed yourself to be emotionally-manipulated into believing that it is, when in reality, it really isn't.

I'd love to see Disney Revitalize some of their cancelled projects, since I think that there is genuine potential with films like "Gigantic" and even "Kingdom of the Sun" from the early 2000s. They just need a few rewrites and a new creative team to get them off the ground.

I get the need to want to change things up between releases, but I think there's merit in simply modernizing the formula. Combine the best elements of the classic and modern era's of the Disney movie catalogue within the fairy tale musical format. AKA, more mythological elements, stronger Hero and Villain dynamics and high fantasy concepts. And yeah, I think it'd be cool to have another Disney Prince musical (especially when the last real Disney Prince in a movie was Hans, and maybe Kristoff.)

I think they've done great original films now, and it doesn't hurt to throw in some fairy tales here and there. I'd love "Rumplestiltskin" or "Hansel & Gretel," personally. But KOTS is my top priority for revivals (and a Swan Lake musical, too).
Sadly Disney princes only exist by association, so unless Disney keeps the love interests from the concept, Manco and his brother won't join the official roster.

While I want Frozen 3 to be a redemption time for Frozen franchise (after the awful Frozen 2 which was one of the worst disney movies ever) I got HUGE doubts. They green-lighted the 3th and 4th movies because disney desperately needs money, NOT because they've got a cool idea how to continue the franchise. I fear they came up with one random concept ("wouldn't it be nice if Elsa fights with another elemental sorcerer?" for example) and now they have to build a 1hour movie based around that concept. That's not how you write movies. Frozen 2 was written the same way; from backwards, first they came up with the ending and then they've just artficially made the rest up. That's why it was so bad, and I fear F3 will meet the same fate.
You always have the "Unnecessary" Frozen sequel to blame! He, unlike any Rapunzel, Wreck-It Ralph, and the Six Heroes, offered a lot of new and interesting things

I still have Frozen as one of my favorite franchises, and I'm glad that I got to see the broadway musical version of it at the NAC in February this year! Tickets to that were a surprise Christmas gift from an adult friend for her, me, and my mother and I wore a cosplay costume of the blue dress with the belt that Elsa wears in the second movie during that experience.
