I just retired and will start playing this! I’m also: roller skating, boogie boarding-lol! I used to watch all the older Italian men in Lake County, CA play this!
I didn't know this game, but it seems to me similar to billiards and bowling, here in Mexico, a combination of both. As a child my father taught us to play something very similar to this and the truth was very fun
So Italy has bocce and France has pétanque which is played with steel “boules” as they’re called same rules of the game only differences is in pétanque you are not allowed to move your legs you must shoot in standing position
It's unfortunate that things like this are finding less and less interest in the younger generations. As i write this I'm watching 3 generations of my family enjoying a game my father was taught by his father a sicilian immigrant who cried when he reached ellis island.
I feel you. Sports are good for the mind, and good for the body. Tech has it's place, but we lack balance very much. We are not computers. Computers are tools, not life.
Dont have to throw the ball if its already close to the small one? Also what do the lines on the side mean? And what if the balls touch the wall? Come on man, call this a tutorial?😂
Where I grew up in Northeast PA, the old Italian guys played bocce in an alley in west scranton.. Smoking cigars and drinking coffee. What characters
That’s awesome, I’m from northeast PA too. Bocce rules

I'm introducing it into my Physical Education class.
I think that’s AWESOME! And you can throw a little history in with it!
I would actually play this
I grew up playing it as a kid in grass. We'd go to different parks to mix up the terrain kind of like golf. It's a life time game!
Where I'm from the small ball is called a bouccini. I'm from Valdese, NC originally. It was founded by a group of Waldensians from the Alps.

How do we get to play? Do they have a sign up sheet or organized teams. Never played but now live here and am interested.

This is very similar to playing pétanque like they do in France.
I believe they are all descended from a Roman game so it would make sense they share a lot of similarities.
