I think it’s to do with how long you can keep your weight down. Sometimes I’ve heard six months but I think it’s longer. The speaker is using a very medical model unsurprisingly for his background. When it comes to nerve regeneration one has around two years to grow new pathways (oversimplification I know) and if we are thinking of brain plasticity I would suggest that consciously keeping you weight down for two years is probably the answer. Then your body will not regard overweight as normal and will develop a new one.
