.... can't listen to this beautiful song but i remember my dear departed Dad singing it .... Dad was from Shallee but of Ballycahane, Ballinahinch extraction
I had the pleasure of hearing ryans fancy in a place called Stacks in carakerry in West limerick in the 70s also heard them in Nova Scotia in the early 80s and spoke to Denis Ryan and Denis Carey on radio clare, they sent me a signed copy of their New Port town CD and it's much treasured, they were top men.
My mother's hometown! Spent many holidays there, shed many a tear singing this in Paddy Gleesons on the last night of our holiday! Had to leave by 3..am to get to dublin for the ferry back to England! Couldn't speak a word until we got to the the five alley so upset at leaving Newport!
Hello Dermot, I knew your grand dad when we all emigrated to Canada & he started singing & playing in Toronto in the late '60s. What is the relationship between Denis Ryan & Denis Carey?
I've written a song about Tipperary, who should I contact with a view to getting it recorded, i won the Michael Burke Festival in 1992, but I'm kinda lazy about pushing songs.
@@garytraynor4011 No, my surname is connected with Limk Ryan's, my Newport connections are Cusack and Coffey. Hope you find your relations, lots of Ryans in Newport to be fair!
