I’ve been watching his videos for years. What a great guy for sharing his wisdom with others. Although I have never seen a disappointed video from him the borax wagons are my favorite. I’ve watched them a few times. It will be a sad day when he isn’t around anymore. I know of no one that does what he does. A national treasure is a phrase this guy deserves.
I'm one of his faithful video followers and have seen them all. There's no other multi-skilled craftsman like him. That's too bad for society, he's the kind of guy we'd need to restart a civilization.
Tha range of skills Dave has mastered boggles your mind. There is a method where the remnants of the wagon reveals the process used to rebuild or duplicate a fully functional wagon that will last as long or longer than the original! I often wonder how the original craftsmen could create with only hand tools what is recreated at this shop!
I believe the borax wagons are housed in a museum setting near Death Valley NP, and similarly for many of his other works. People who spend the time and money it takes to rebuild this gear, to this level of expertise, will usually take great care of it.
He should have some younger people as apprentices so that his knowledge can be passed on to others. I share my almost 50 years of experiences & knowledge of handling horses to all the younger people who visit our Thoroughbred farm. That`s what makes humans unique, our ability of sharing accumulated knowledge to younger people from older generations.
We desperately need him to train apprentices. Working to create useful things with our hands is becoming lost to our society. We have plenty of people gazing mindlessly at electronic devices. Mere Art has become the preferred method of laundering money. People trained to create useful things out of hunks of iron and chunks of wood... that ensures civilizations' future. History has so much from which we can learn, which is why those 'powers that be' are intent on destroying our history.

Our "modern" society doesn't value or reward his skills and values. Nowadays we throw out the odds and buy a new one.
Keep up the great work, I'm a furniture builder and mostly repair, back logged 1 1/2 years
in a one man shop. Grand Rapids ,MI

Amazing 🤩 ; I remember the old T V show ' Death Valley Days '
Really beautiful work, but could they maybe relocate the originals indoors?

@ I was referring to the originals sitting in the desert. Thus “the originals.”
If you’ve watched this and never went to Dave’s RUclips channel you should. He’s amazing along with his wife Diane who’s behind the scenes.
