The more I know about Steve Perry, the more I absolutely adore this man. He is so very genuine and soft-spoken and heart-felt. I love how he was always so close to his mother and still feels her loss today. He is so very HUMBLE! It's absolutely astonishing, impressive and admirable...❤
I feel the same way
Agreed❤
There are many bands that have replaced their lead singers. I have seen Journey in concert with every lead singer. To me, the true Journey is the one that included Steve Perry. Arnel sounds good, but he is no Perry.
He made the right decision to save his life. Long tours & hotel rooms & late nights must be a lonely boring tempting grind.
This guy literally risked his voice and life for our pleasure. This man deserves our praise 100xs
But don’t ya think he did it for himself too? I mean I would think that if he didn’t make it big he would of quit sooner. But I don’t know the whole story, was he developing some kinda throat cancer just before he quit and if that’s the case, that coulda been caused by even drugs or negativity and stress in his life possibly. And I do appreciate the guys voice and talent. But like he said he didn’t have it in him to keep goin, but does he mean he didn’t have the inspiration or just hit a wall to write and make up new music……. Cuz I would kinda like to know who the main song writers were in the band? I’ve heard Jonathan Cain wrote a lot of hits and I would imagine so did Neal Schon. Maybe he felt he wasn’t contributing to the band enough… but I’ve praised him and his band by buying his music. I don’t know why I’m goin off about this, I apologize if I sound harsh. PEACE!
Get your priorities in order,he is a whiny rich spoiled brat.Go help feed homeless people.
Music is simply his life. He can't help his passion.
TT you are brainwashed lol..Steve Perry is a selfish jerk who knew his live voice was shot, and tried to shut the band down
I know there's no one that could replace you, I've loved your voice ! Journey isn't journey without you! Thank you for being part of my life, I was back stage at your show in Phoenix Arizona!
What ever you do I wish you the absolute best of everything, you've earned it my friend! ❤🎉😊
A once in a generation voice!
I adore Steve. I was his waiter at Geoffrey's Malibu and he treated me like his best friend for two full hours....a magical moment of inspiration.
Wow that's awesome... you are very lucky
I'm jealous in a good way
My all-time favorite singer! My all-time favorite group... Journey with Steve Perry!
The most selfish ego maniac that's ever been
@@JohnnyLapsjust curious, do you know him personally? I would think, if you’re saying that, you must know him personally. Otherwise, you don’t know if he’s an egotistical maniac. Js...
@@teresamcmeans566 I am friends with Larry Magid,a local Philadelphia promoter who I trust.Steve Perry used his own bus, didn't get along with bandmates, promoters and managers. He then forced Steve Smith and Ross Valory out of the band, bringing in cheaper guys like Randy Jackson. His greed sickens me.i know your a girl, and probably think he was singing those ballads to you.He wasn't.
@@JohnnyLapsI’m a grown woman. I have never thought he was singing those ballads to me. That’s ignorant for you to say. I was merely asking you a question. I got my answer, you don’t know him personally.
Yes, I love this group.
This man will forever be known as journey. His incredible voice is that band if you listen to the current singer, it's Steve Perry's voice. He made such a mark on music. He deserves so much Credit and good for him for being able to walk away when he did, I love this guy.
You & me both Kelso, you said it all very well put!!! Will have love for this man forever, he gave us lots of memories and we will all have this forever!!!!!!😊
I Love Steve Perry, he had a voice that when you heard it you knew exactly who it was ❤
Steve Perry will always be the voice of journey. Is voice was amazing.
I love Steve Perry ,he has such a beautiful singing voice and will miss him but I'm so happy for him that he is finally having a life for himself as he well deserves, as he worked hard enough for it .Way to go ,Steve ! All the best to you .God bless you always .🌹💖💖💖🦋🌷🎀
Steve Perry, that voice! Glad he made himself happy!
Steve may have left the BAND,but he NEVER LEFT THE “BRAND”!
He got one of the greatest music 🎶 contracts after his “Journey” bandmates Jonathan Cain & Neal Schon derailed him in 1998 and urged him to get “hip surgery” now or risk being replaced.
Steve took the RISK and while the BAND works touring yearly,Steve is at home collecting “JOURNEY” payouts in PERPITUITY!
We do miss you,Steve!
I love this man. He soothed me though so much crap in my life. His voice is so unique. He tried to get back with the band, they were indecisive. They lost their chance. Their loss!
😊😊Steve's voice is unforgettable. Loved his interpretations of all the songs he did. There's only "1"Steve Perry and whenever a journey song plays, it takes me back to those great concerts!!
The greatest voice of all time. Steve Perry
Journey is nothing but a karaoke band without Steve. A really good soul, and one of the greatest voices of all-time (especially when Greg Rollie was also in the band).
I’m hoping some day he will grace us with one more journey tribute.
Maybe not with a Journey tribute...but I read recently he was itching to perhaps tour again solo! And that he recently signed with a new label! So, with or without Journey, it sounds like we will hopefully be hearing more from Steve Perry and soon!! 🙏🤞❤️
Steve has always been one of MY VERY FAVOURITE SINGERS,!!! What a VOICE!!!!❤
I'm so glad I was born in 1963 because I got to be in the 1970s with Journey and Steve Perry. I'm so glad he was in my lifetime.
You made music sing in myself 😢
Without a doubt the greatest singer in rock and roll
Such a talented man and yet so humble and so real!!!!! Love him!
Heard Journey live in 1986. Steve live is even better than in the studio! Hands down the best voice ever! I will not down play any of the other singers. They are good, but I have had tickets offered to me two times, for free, and have turned them down. Just can't bring myself to it.
I saw Journey in the old Seattle Center Coliseum 4 times from 1978-ish through 1983-ish. Went to their concerts more than any other band I've seen live (I was a concert freak in the late 70's and early 80's). They didn't need to be flashy or gimmicky, they just played incredible shows, and Steve Perry probably in the most incredible vocalist of all time.
Same. Offered tickets, not interested. And nothing against the Journey members now, but it just wouldn't be the same without it being Steve singing those songs.
We all miss him that's for sure! I'm glad he's still singing, producing and such on his own terms, but I miss him being in the limelight like he once was. I miss watching him. Seeing and hearing that passion he emits while he sings. God gave him such a beautiful gift and I'm so happy he shared it with us. Long Live Steve Perry ❣️
Steve Perry is IMMORTAL! 👏🏼👍🏻😊
Just listened to Girl can't help it
Steve your fans await you with open arms. Fortunate to have seen him during the love of strange medicine tour what a memory
I feel so very lucky I got to grow up with this man’s voice.
please make a new album, the world needs it !
Love Steve Perry, wish he would get on stage one last time with the band for a reunion set for the fans…
I still play a lot of his music I love to hear him sing. But he probably saves his life from hotel to hotel being on the road a lot. As you get old speaking for myself my body tell me if I need rest.
Steve's voise has been the backdrop in every strip joint in the World
I been the journey concert in Oakland it so wonderful for me with 80 thousands fans that day's. Everyone love him and the band.
It’s hard to be in a bad mood while riding motorcycles.
Saw Journey at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin back in the 80's. Best concert 💯
Dan Rather is the GOAT when it comes to this kind of matter.
Thans, Steve: for the music.
Love Steve voice 🧡
Steve.. my soul lives and breathes Journey. I wouldn't be me .. without you.❤
He went threw alot ,the glory was to good etc...he burn out ,it happens..be nice to hear him play with his group again ! ...this happens to all of us when we get older ...mother nature takes over ...
I love Steve Perry great singer
that girl can really sing.
there’s more to the story but we will never know what the hell happened. I’m glad that Arnel Pineda from the poor country of the Philippines 🇵🇭 was discovered. He may not be Steve Perry but you know what, ‘Journey’ has came back up from the grave and thanks to a talented Filipino who made the fire started once again. ❤❤❤ thanks for all that is involved to getting Arnel as the vocalist. May both of you guys have more success in the future. Steve and Arnel!😊
I think we can piece together what happened pretty well, actually. Steve strikes me as a guy who likes his freedom and the rockstar lifestyle doesn't give you that when you're chained to touring 24/7 for 10 months a year. So there was probably an underlying burnout/fatigue and he started to...dare I say?...resent his job.
Throw a long-term, tumultuous romantic relationship into the mix - Sherrie. It created drama in his life and with his bandmates. By all accounts, they broke up because he couldn't resolve their relationship with his career. While it was probably "for the best," it's possible he saw it as yet another thing he lost because of his job.
As things were going south with Sherrie (about when they recorded Raised on Radio), his mom got very sick - ultimately passing away while he was on tour. He couldn't really be with her because of his job. She was the last of his immediate family and he was alone.
To make matters worse, his voice was changing because of the heavy use. The very thing he sacrificed so much for was shifting under his feet. It makes sense he turned to unhealthy copes through all this, which accelerated the vocal strain. As he says here, his voice was suffering.
So I'm pretty sure he's telling the truth when he says, "I had to just stop." I imagine he felt like he was running on a hamster wheel of doom - so he jumped off.
@@jlevans8784 Well-explained. With all the different assumptions out there about Steve and why he left, I have explained it literally the exact same way u just did and I don't get why it's questioned all the time. It makes perfect sense to me, as your ending sentiment.

Bullshit 🙄
I 've known people that worked with Steve and the Band early
on.....
He has Allways been a Little
Different than most the Other Successful Singers of that
Era.....
That Incredible Voice....
God Bless Ya Man....
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I like him. I don't care much for Journey or his singing. He's a good guy
Steve why weren't you wearing your helmet during your rides??? 😅
He didn’t wanna deal with those guys anymore. High drama. Dude SPLIT. SEE YA.
Sad
I wish some other artists would have just stopped to save their lives Kurt cobain, Amy winehouse and so many others. And come back when they were ready.
He looks like Sloan from "Entourage"
all of these stories about him splitting up w/ journey had me thinking he was being selfish when the reality made me realize that he was in a lot of pain. his health was more important and he needed to take care of himself. now journey is a mess w/ 2 guys who are married to 2 of the worst women you can think of. they have pushed 2 members of the classic line-up out of the band. i hope steve is well enough to tour again. just do a few small shows and get the passion for it again.
That was years ago before Dan Rather got fired, stop commenting like this story is recent.
Arnel does a good job, but he's not Steve Perry.
Very old news, let's move on..
That's what your shrink keeps telling you during therapy sessions
What's with the phony 'wedding' ring?
I agree
Glad he finally admitted his voice was shot. Because it was; by 1987 and definitely by 1992. He just doesn't sound as good. If you asked him to sing a Journey song now at the key of the recording, he physically could not do it, and hasn't been able to in basically 35 years. Thats the real reason he left Journey.
And that's your opinion as to why he left.
PS. Show me anyone who can sing like he did at 75.
I SEEN THEM TWICE IN DAYTON OHIO WITH TJ PIQUA OHIO.
AWESOME THANK GOD FOR HIS HELP TO KEEP HIM ALIVE .
I HAVE RONNIE MONTROSE ONCE . IN DAYTON OHIO.
SEEN 🐝 BEE GEEGS CINCINNATI OHIO 1979 WHEN THEY WERE GREAT .
SEEN AT LEDGEN VALLEY OHIO. CHEAP TRICK, EDDIE MONEY ,CARS ,UTOPIA, AWESOME ALMIGHTY CONCERT 😎 👌.
