Bobby Orr’s final full season was 1974-75 when he won his second scoring title and ended when he had just turned 27. Most players are just entering their prime at that point. He played 36 more games over the next 4 seasons where he scored 45 points.
I was there that night. The sight of Capt. Raymond Bourque escorting Normand Leveille around the ice brought tears to my eyes. Bobby with his arm around "Pie's" shoulders. Ray and Bobby were the last to leave the Garden ice. It was the most emotional day I ever spent in the old barn. I still miss it to this day. The smelly bathroom's, the rats, the obstructed view seats, the cheap beer, all of it. But it was the most historic building in all of sports. May it rest in peace.
Loved seeing all the Greats from years gone by... and especially liked watching Bourque help Norm Leveille around the ice one more time.... That was Classy.
You can tell Bobby is 100% in his “happy place”. On skates, surrounded by a bunch of other hockey players. You get the sense that’s all he ever needed or wanted out of life

Boston Garden, Chicago Stadium and Montreal Forum would have been 3 absolutely phenomenal places to see a hockey game! Not a bad seat in the house. Right up close to the action!
At this time I will thank my grandfather, for when he left Italy he immigrated to Boston. I was a kid in the 70's. Orr and the gang were Gods back then.. 2019- they still are.. Greatest sports city in history..
Many thanks for these videos. It was fitting that the last event at Boston Garden was a hockey game and it must have been great for the fans that day to see the Bruins legends side by side with the current players.
Great to see Ferny Flaman not just the toughest Bruin all time but arguably one of the NHL's all time toughest. Hockey News picked Flaman in 1966 top heavyweight of his era saying he may have never lost a fight in 908 NHL games.
And Ferny, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame for his playing days, did an incredible job coaching formerly downtrodden Northeastern hockey into respectability, winning 4 Beanpots in the '80's and leading the Huskies into the NCAA tournament a couple of times. He did a lot with a little, the mark of a truly great hockey coach.
I live in Mississauga Ontario ,Canada. Maple leaf fan since I was a. Kid. Leads had some great forwards and defense men but I have been a fan of the greatest defense man in hockey # 4 Bobby Orr. He change how defense men played the game. Before Orr defense man stop at the opposing team blue line. # 4 would not stop and score. I believe two of greatest accomplishments was the Canada , Russia series and the Canada cup. He had two bad knees and still skated like the wind.

Boston Madison Square Garden (the Garden's original official name) was in fact built by the same firm that built the old Madison Square Garden. Very similar buildings, though NY version had more seats.
Blew MSG away. The smallish size of it, the balcony and the sightlines were unmatched. Also, it has really underrated acoustics for concerts. Just an epic barn.
As of January 28, 2015, I believe seven of the players honored her are now deceased: Doug Mohns, Bep Guidolin, Tom Johnson, Bill Quackenbush, Fern Flaman, Jerry Toppazzini and Woody Dumart. Announcers Bob Wilson and Fred Cusick are no longer with us either.

Terry O'reilly has that Penalty box from the Boston Garden in his house
Boston Garden, Chicago Stadium and Montreal Forum would have been 3 absolutely phenomenal places to see a hockey game! Not a bad seat in the house. Right up close to the action!
Rene's rendition of Auld Lang Syne during the final skate was perfect!
If you didn't tear up when they skated Norman Leveille then you haven't got a heart. Gets me everytime. :(
I was 18 yrs old when in 1982 when he had his stroke. His friend, took his hand. Ray Bourque. Never Forget the love of Boston..... STRONG.

Greatest arena ever. To this day the loudest building (crowd noise) I've ever been in and it's not close.
Oreilly and Jonathan sitting in the penalty box ! that was great ! they made me the fan I am today !

Orr at 47 skating pretty good. What a shame and what could have been. He would of been scoring 185 points or more in the Gretzky era.
Goosebumps
orr........the greatest hockey player ever........
no questions, no debate. just plain fact!
That guy in the crowd "Boston Garden -> too good to (B) #4 gotten" ... dayum
Sweetest words I've ever heard. And I'm not even a Bruins fan.
made it to this place in 1994 to see my rangers play.
felt like i was in a basement all night, but the fans were great!

@lstonge88 i wouldn't call it tough, I'd call it beautiful because i don't think anyone expected him to be in that final skate.
I wish I could of been there!!!!
I don’t like the Bruins but this was something special
This year should have been 92 years long time
Normand Leveielle..You da man!
tough watching Norman Levielle
Now it's the last hurrah!

"These Are The Days" by Van Morrison
Orr and Bourque could have been on the Bruins power play together for 10 years.
AND YES IF YOU DON'T KNOW IT BY NOW I WAS THERE..HAD SEASONS TICKETS 👍🏒👍🥅👍🏒😃
Man that guy cannot sing.
But he was OUR guy, Rene Rancourt, who in certain ways reflected the team and fans he sang for.
Lay off Rene dude. He's Bruins family. Hands off
